It's crazy to look back at all of the great fighters that Javier Mendez trained. You would have thought that after Cain and DC it might take a dip. Nope! Khabib, Islam and others, now Usman and Umar etc. This isn't by accident. You can tell by listening to the man that he has a great mind for the sport and he knows potential and skill when he sees it. Legend.

Dustin has tons of pressure that he's putting on himself. Anybody that fights professionally is super competitive and no more than with yourself. In his eyes if he doesn't become the champ even though he might tell people he's good with all he's accomplished, he knows he will have failed in his ultimate goal. This is his last chance for the belt and will be retiring most likely after this fight. He'll still be happy and satisfied with all that he accomplished in the sport but not winning the belt will haunt him.

Josh I’m happy Javier was pissed at you during the second Melendez fight cuz I was there live and pissed too! Haha. Still loved ya after. You’re my favorite “real” Strikeforce fighter. (Not counting guys that fought once or twice or made their name somewhere else) If I remember right I was flabbergasted that you weren’t wrestling! That fight was years ago now so I could be wrong. Either way still a big fan and of the show.

I want Dustin to win but unless it’s a club and sub I just don’t see it. I May not even get the PPV since the only other fight I care about on it is Strickland v Costa and it could be a snoozer. $80 is a lot to spend on a main event where the guy you want to win is most likely gonna lose.

Josh can be a real casual sometimes making the comment that Islam hasn't fought anybody with the resume of Poirier. Does he watch the sport? Islam just finished Volk and Charles. Both guys who were champions on 10 plus winning streaks. Volk who is arguably the FW goat and Charles who was on the cusp of being considered the LW goat. Not to mention one of those guys finished Poirier. Put some respeck on Islam's name.

I get very surprised when interviewers make the comment, that Islam hasn’t fought anyone with as much experience and as many big fights as Dustin. Who do you think he sparred with for the last 7 years every week??? Khabib, Usman, Umar, Rockhold, Cormier, the list goes on. Do you really think he hasn’t faced harder, more talented fighters in training camp?? If you know AKA and the Dagestan fight camp culture, then you wouldn’t ask that question.
