Coach Woodson is losing weight. Basketball stress?

Typical IU… the officials are never perfect but they were reasonably accurate in calling the game. Watch the tape. 🤓

What is he talking about with the fouls? They fouled and could’ve been called for many more. Stop fouling and that won’t be a problem for you.

this season is gonna be the real test of Woodson as a coach now that these are his players for the most part and he's not riding the wave of TJD and JHS. so far its been very rocky and tonight's performance really highlights where this team is , we are not serious contenders in the big ten or NCAA tournament. we struggled against Michigan (currently lowest W/L in big ten). theres talent on this team, but its really up to Woodson's coaching more than ever

Reneau is as soft as baby poop! For a guy his size, he needs to rebound the ball better and get more physical. They constantly knock him around like a ping pong ball! He lacks toughness and physicality! He needs to get tougher and play harder and rebound the ball better! Period! Just inexcusable!! (The story of the game has been Purdue going after lose balls and out hustling Indiana for them, while Indiana stands there and stares and quite frankly has been the summary of IU's season so far _ Robbie Hummel)

The best way to beat Purdue is play at home. So far, they're 2-2 in B1G road games. Same with last year in Bloomington. In both those losses this year, a star player on the opposing team emerged with a stellar night. That's the formula. It's not the officials, coaching, yadda yadda.

Indiana is a poorly coached team that plays with a bunch of individuals while Purdue plays in a system with a unified purpose. As far as the foul disparity is concerned, Indiana throughout the season has demonstrated an inability to get to the free throw line.

Hood-Schaffino's jump to the NBA has crippled IU basketball for at least two recruiting cycles at the PG1. Not even the transfer portal is enough for Woodson to lure a LEGIT PG1 to Bloomington. A "PG1 by committee" will only land this team into the NIT (at best) rather than in the field of "68" in two months. 🙄 #FACTS 👎🏀

This Indiana team is soft and undisciplined! I am a very concerned IU fan and as much as it pains me to say all this; this is a poorly coached team right now. The IU coaches and players should all be ashamed and embarrassed of themselves, the way they once again played, representing Indiana basketball! I like Mike Woodson, but this is a poorly coached basketball team right now. Indiana is a team full of mostly 4 and 5 star basketball players and are getting completely out played by teams with lesser talent! Right now, IU plays like the dumbest team in the nation. Indiana at times looks and plays completely undisciplined, stagnant and confused. They lack intensity, toughness, heart, focus and effort! They constantly make the same dumb mistakes and turnovers over and over again. They force bad turnovers and bad shots! As much as it pains me to say this, turnovers, poor basketball IQ, poor chemistry, poor ball movement, poor shot selection, poor shooting, lack of physicality, hustle and poor rebounding have all been continuous reoccurring problems since Mike Woodson and his coaching staff have been at IU! IU has way too much talent to be playing this bad and there is very little to no improvement at all! They continue to turn the ball over at an extremely high rate. All the way back to the last couple years, I have heard basketball announcers and analysts make remarks, such as nobody values the basketball as little as Indiana does. That has been an issue since Woodson has been coach. Another issue is, the lack of physicality and rebounding, that never seems to get fixed. Another issue is, the complete erratic play on both sides of the ball on offense and defense and a very stagnant offense at times, with poor ball movement and turnovers. IU still has way too many guys trying to play hero ball, forcing bad shots and making turnovers. Guys like Mackenzie Mgbacko and CJ Gunn, who clearly are just trying to get theirs. All they care about is getting their points and it is obvious! They force way too many bad shots and turnovers and don't make the open pass. Xavier Johnson is the biggest disappointment of the season and just continues to be a turnover machine! Completely inexcusable! IU continues to lack ball movement on offense and look confused at times. They get stagnant and have poor team chemistry. On both sides of the ball they lack discipline, toughness, physicality, hustle and are poor at rebounding and fundamentals. I am tired of watching the other team with less talent out hustle them, out smart them and just out class them on both sides of the ball. Woodson has to get this figured out and figured out soon!

This is the most generic response I’ve ever read. It’s gonna be the same thing every time there is a loss and radio silence when they get a big win. Everyone is an armchair Coach K. Both MgBako and Gunn have been responsible for pivotal plays on big wins against strong opponents, as have Reneau, Ware, Gallo, Xavier, and the rest. The devil is in the details. Purdue had too many second chance points/an edge in rebounding, and got to the line way more and shot better at the line. That’s it. Wasn’t no hero ball, stop making reads on people you don’t know, IU actually didn’t turn the ball over a lot, it was lacking in a couple important areas. Effort wasn’t there to maintain Possession, these guys are used to skating by on talent and now they need to get up to speed. Of course they need to put in more effort. Of course they need to quickly diagnose when to help and double and when to clog the passing lanes to the perimeter. They get caught looking instead of anticipating. I actually think Coach Woodson has set them up for success, they just need to stop acting like children, and thrive in a system instead of going through the motions in it.

Woodson’s teams have beat high ranked Purdue teams 3 times in 2 years. I think the only one lacking depth here among all of who you mentioned is you.

@@forw4rdp422 Possibly one of the most kettle calling the pot black cases I've ever read. While everything I said was true. Some people can't see past their nose and lack depth! First off, they don't have any big wins and are not even close to being a tournament team right now. Shows how little you know and they have had close to record high turnover games within the last couple weeks. Every time Gunn or Mgbacko gets the ball, they try to throw up a shot and take way too many bad shots or dribble right into a turnover. Johnson continues to turn the ball over way more than he scores points. Everything I said is true. They get stagnant on offense and look confused way too often. They are giving up way too many points on defense. They get their butts kicked every time they play a quality team and they are full of 4 and 5 star talent, but get out rebounded and out hustled time after time. I am tired of seeing lesser talented teams out play and out class them and look like the smarter sharper team in all aspects. In fact, the announcers and annalist have even made comments that nobody values the ball as little as Indiana. Commentator Robbie Hummel, made the comment tonight saying, The story of the game Purdue goes after the loose ball and out hustles Indiana, while Indiana stands and stares at the ball. Story of the game!

@@forw4rdp422 We are talking about this year! Not last year. As far as I am concerned with the talent they had last year, they should have been a final four team. They haven't beat anybody this year and almost lost to cup cakes and were very fortunate to win quite a few of those. I guess you are ok with not making the tournament this year and underperforming. I smell liberal!
@forw4rdp422

when I went to IU we were in the final four and also won 2 soccer championships. I actually lived with the players lol. So basically, shut up. Where were you guys with your expert opinion when Crean and Miller were getting smoked for years? The beauty of that is we can actually look up highlights from 2008 or 2020 or whatever year and see. It’s some really subtle disrespect and I think we know why. I think everyone is entitled to an opinion and criticism of something they are a fan of but it’s all about where it’s coming from isn’t it? So, I would just check yourself man. I think I’m gonna get off RU-vid soon.
