After successfully felling the 495’ tall, reinforced concrete chimney at the same site in south central Florida for the first explosives phase on the project on June 16, 2021, CDI returned to fell the hung boiler parallel to the operational switchyard which the power company is maintaining as part of their transmission network. Given the proximity of protected wetlands behind the coal silo bay and adjacent to the air heater bay, CDI was asked to “drag” those structures away from the wetlands as part of the implosion sequence. CDI also felled the ash silo as part of this final explosives operation toward helping the power company eliminate its final coal fired power facility in Florida in furtherance of its green energy initiative. The remaining ash in the silo was fully contained during the felling to facilitate its controlled removal/disposal following CDI’s operations.
