We joined Jon Arthur at Meadowlands Fishery where he gave us a Masterclass in bait choice during spring. He explains the baits to use to catch carp and tench in spring on the pole and the tackle he uses to catch a huge net of fish.
Matrix Fishing TV is home to a huge collection of match and coarse fishing videos. With clips and films ranging from, The Practice with Mark Pollard and the Matrix Mini Masterclass with Jamie Hughes, Jon Arthur, Jamie Harrison and the rest of the Matrix team. We bring you the very latest product videos and Free Match Fishing DVD’s. At Matrix we pride ourselves on manufacturing quality fishing tackle for Match anglers, club anglers and pleasure anglers who simply enjoy coarse fishing. Our product and tips videos will give you an insight into how to pick the right rod, pole or reel. Which is the best fishing box for your style of fishing. What line and hooks to use for feeder fishing or pole fishing and what is the best pellet waggler to use to suit the conditions. Our aim at Matrix is for you to catch more fish. I'd still have some 0.15 on less snaggy swims, even 0.12 if you're catching the skimmers!

That pole just looks featherlight!!!! I wish I could look as comfortable at 8m, let alone 14!!!

Hey Jon, love the videos!! Quick question? Do you find any advantages or disadvantages with using a bait band like you have on here, oppose to a taditional hair rig band, if you know what I mean? I like how you do it it, as it seems much easier to switch to different baits without having to change the hook. Thank you, Andy

Andy Kirk Thanks Andy! I think hooking a band can potentially be fiddlier if you’re catching a lot of fish, plus i only tend to use them when bottom fishing (not sure why!). I like the fact they’re tight to the hook’s bend. I used to think it was a ‘noddy’ way to hook a pellet until I saw Neil Machin do it and win, which made me take notice, and much later discovered Alan Scotthorne also did it in certain situations. If it’s good enough for them...

@@JonArthur Awesome, thanks for the reply Jon! I have recently bought some of the band's with the eye attached after seeing you use band's on the Rolfs lake Match (EBay from china) Never seen them in tackle shops over here. Only used them once so far but caught pretty well on them. 👍 I like the idea of just tying normal spade end hooks then adding a bait band when needed without changing the hook. I would love to get a coaching day with you but I think I'm too far North for where your based. I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

@@andykirk26 Glad it's been a help Andy! I sometimes venture up North for big matches, so there's always the chance I can run a session the day before or after, so there's sometimes a possibility if you get in touch via my Facebook page or website: www.jonarthur.co.uk/coaching

Jon. Do you find afternoon late on, better than morning at this time of year?

Jon what size bands were you using. I mostly fish 6mm and 4mm hard pellet so would the small and medium matrix bait bands be okay?

Hi John great vid, is that the slik 10-12 in your kits , been using it today and the green 8-10 on big f1s and can't decide what I prefer, any thoughts?
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 5 лет назад
Orange 12-14! I'd probably use red 10-12 for F1s now its warmed up in a traditional long kit. Maybe the 8-10 if using short kits.
