Coast Guard Rescues Boaters in Distress During Storm

During a January 4 storm, two 47-foot Motor Life Boats from Station Golden Gate responded to calls and assisted four boaters in distress, towing one of the vessels to shore after it broke away from its anchor. At the height of the storm, the crews battled high winds and rain to toss a heaving line to the boater. Attempts were successful and the boater was towed about one mile to a local pier. I don't remember yelling so much when we were on the 44' MLB, even in gale winds. The engine noise on the 47''ers must be oppressive. Or, 47' coasties are just deaf.....:)

The PA cut the video. There were more than two attempts. Tight quarters with buoys, anchored boats, and 5 ft of water. maxum- your comment is ignorant.

Hold on... at #t=1m15 the crewmember is pulling back the first missed throw, but I hear her saying "back down..back down..back down" as they're pulling in the heaving line... What !! It's been awhile since I've been in, but I do remember as a cox'n to keep FWD speed when a line is aft near the props. Decent tow job though... now try it in 8-10ftrs LMAO! (GOD I miss that stuff !! :-) )

conditions werent too bad . . i go out in shit like that just to drink a few beers . . . . just windy thats all . . . i hope his motors were down or this rescue would be a waste .
