I'm personally an atheist and a dialectical materialist, which essentially just means I deny the idea of/belief in the metaphysical including God/Religion. So one of the things I really appreciate about Coast Contra is their ability to talk about what they often refer to as "God" without alienating any of their non-christian listeners. That includes atheists/dialectical materialists like myself as well as any members of other religions/belief systems. You don't need to be Christian, religious, or believe in God at all for that matter in order to understand any of the ethical/philosophical assertions they are making or appreciate the stances they are taking on any of the more important/culturally relevant issues they speak on. I truly can't get enough of these guys. Not only are they creating music that is FAR FAR superior to anything the genre has offered in a long (like not even remotely close) they are creating REAL art that has a genuinely positive impact on the culture and the people in it. You won't find anyone even close creating/promoting such healthy/important discussions. They're truly amazing.

Eric Jamal's verse was a whole hospital scheme. He had several smaller schemes in it, but they could all had something to do with hospitals, health or the practice of medicine. Even the breakfast barz were taking about drug use and the cafeteria.

Thank you for such a thoughtful reaction video. Contra hits you in your soul in so many ways especially for an older head who knows what the culture was like atbits begining. There's the immediate response and then after listening to their lyrics multiple times you get hit with these poignant gems and messages that speak truth to life. The spirit of hip hop runs deep with these young brothers.
