Coastal Foraging - Huge Spring Low Tide coastal foraging on a rocky shore for Lobsters, Crabs, Fish and seaweeds. Exploring rock pools and tide pools discovering many incredible sea creatures on a wonderful sunny day.

Your videos are so wonderful to watch, well produced and so entertaining. My son is in hospital at the moment so am watching at weird times and trying to catch up and take my mind elsewhere for a few minutes. I happened upon your channel only yesterday and have been devouring your videos ever since! You remind me so much of my grandfather in that you're always teaching, being mindful of the impact you have on the world, encouraging your son, and having a great attitude. These were all aspects of Pop, who grew up not too far from you. He used to tell me all about the treats he and his brothers and sisters used to comb from the beaches and tidal pools! I feel like I'm walking alongside you (and him!) when I watch your videos. Your voice is so like his. Thank you for creating lovely videos. I enjoy them so much!

Was very surprised by the amount of different types of anemones we have in the Uk was expecting 2 or 3 , seen plenty of the snake locks but will have to keep my eyes open for the rest more often when I go searching , great video as always John !

The more I watch your videos the bigger my list gets of wildlife I’m trying to find while I go foraging !🤣 going to do a bit more research into the species of anemones there absolutely amazing !

Great to see you get a spring! We go from winter-a week of spring- straight into 40+deg of summer! Same the other way, summer- a week of autumn- then into winter! It always been this way, its not climate change, its just our climate.

The amount and variety of life you find and share with us is great to see! I remember back in the mid-seventies, when pollution was just starting to make the news, fearing that when I was older, and had children of my own, we'd perhaps not have the amazing adventures of rock pooling. To me, there is no place as awesomely beautiful as Cornwall and North Devon. Can't wait for our two weeks in paradise to come around this year, it's mostly all that keeps me plodding along on the 9 - 5 rat run!

Great video , I was rock pooling in Torquay few years ago and found a pure blue lobster just as tide was going out , I’m told they are extremely rare , so fishermen put them back , we also did as just so beautiful , an amazing find , 👍

Thank you, I really enjoyed this episode, all the different varieties of life that you pointed out and talked about and the best bit for me was seeing the lobster moving across the sandy bottom, such beautiful colours and lovely to see one moving about for such a long time. Good to come along with you John as always, very informative, top stuff. Head in the rocks and pools, that's the way. I live right next to sand and rocks, so weather permitting will have a forage myself today. Tide is a good time so get my waders (saves water in the normal wellies lol), bucket and hook out and go searching. Thanks for sharing and all the best.

Try the T shaped groyne at New Brighton. It's made of a regular concrete block structure that holds pools of water that drop gin clear over low water. All sorts there, but no lobsters! Be careful though, if you knock yourself out no-one will ever see you!

Thanks to your channel i learned a ton of new things, caught my first dogfish, mackerel, bass and im able to go foraging by myself. @@TheFishLocker When I was 15 I left school and worked on my grandfathers' fishing trawler out of Pittenweem in the Firth of Forth. I caught and ate everything :) Including doggies which are delicious if you can be bothered preparing them properly. Wrass are tasty too if a little bony but your prize catch in this video was the wee spiney. The little Crayfish. Those little buggers are the tastiest things in the sea. Preserve the tiny spiny's I say..

Actually dogfish are easy, split them down the middle and slap them on the bbq skin down. Turn them over to let the oil out and char the underside, job done.

You live in an amazingly beautiful place... I am so jealous 😭😂 I live in the Netherlands. We do have a lot of beaches, but because we are a very flat country and most of our shores are human made, we don't have any stone beaches and we definitely don't have little rocks and caves. I've tried foraging here but there is just no use hahahahahh Also, maybe it's a little crazy but I would love to see a video of you going down the shore at night with a uv light... And just see wat you can find😁

We have done dozens of videos on the shore with UV lights on the channel over the past 3 years. 😊

What a fantastic shoreline Cornwall has, so different from the muddy Wash beaches at my nearest seaside. Your videos are always so interesting and educational, you should show them at James's school, perhaps you do, hopefully you were on time to collect him. It's really amazing what you can see just wandering along the exposed low tide rocks. Keep them coming, really looking forward to next week's episode.

Fascinating waw ,,great show ,, did a bit of rock pooling last year ,I'm up beside belfast lough buts mostly just sand ,,but we travelled bit down the road last year to Portavogie and the bottom of the Ards peninsula, the tide was out and ther were a few pools and couldn't resist to have a little look 🤣🤣👏👏 ther were a few little bleenys or rocking or something but they were too quick 😉
