- I didn’t think that this would need to be said, as I hoped most folks would have enough common sense to realise for themselves. My wife and I shared the cooking, I did not force my wife to cook because I am some chauvinistic beast. We shared it because we share things. Including the food. My son did not eat any because he did not want any. As you will hear in the video, our battery was dying so we quickly closed and signed off, my wife holding the camera. Then we sat and ate. I did not eat it all myself and deny my wife food. The fact people would even think that blows my mind. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤯
People are so stupid it's funny. They also seem to forget that things happen when the camera is off. I dont understand this thinking that if it's not on film it didnt happen.
Adrien M - Hello Adrien, I am so very glad you enjoyed our video and could join us on the shore. We are simply sharing what we love doing. I hope you enjoy the rest of our content and all the best from Cornwall in the UK. 😊👍🏻🎣🦀🐚
I gotta say, I'm born and raised in a land-locked state and I'm not into eating seafood of any kind but there's something so peaceful about watching these foraging videos. Maybe it's the sound, the environment or the simplicity of combing the shores but I find these videos incredibly relaxing and interesting. :) Well done.
I absolutely get what you're saying Sarah, I have been telling people for years. You don't necessarily have to want to eat these things to find it interesting where they come from. Best wishes and stay safe. 😊
If you're still reading comments, I just want to say two things. First, I do appreciate the subtitles and all the extra info and little jokes in them! Also I appreciate this sharing of traditional knowledge in a world where such things so easily slip away.
I am still doing my best to respond to every comment but it just takes me a while. Thank you. I have manually done the subtitles on a few videos so there are a few Easter eggs in them. We are simply sharing what we know and love doing. Have a great day and take care. 😊
- That is what I love to hear Alireza, so many people didn't know this was their thing but it can be so interesting can't it. We love it!! Welcome to our channel, I hope you find the rest of our content interesting. We have a few great foraging videos where we find crabs and lobsters. :D
absolutely love that instead of just tossing the ones he doesn't want down on the ground, he kindly sets it back where he found it and covers it back up. that's respect for the food you eat and the place it came from.
- Thank you Jay, and I am so glad to hear you share our philosophy on respecting nature. Why wouldn't you want to show respect to the natural world? Hopefully that message transfers across to people watching the video. ;) Best wishes to you and your family Jay and have a great day. :)
It's almost comforting to see humans just doing human things. Foraging and collecting, preparing food and sharing with your family, teaching valuable skills to the younger generations...this is what being a human's about. Edit: I wanna correct my words. I think the idea conveyed is that humans are a lot of things, which is what makes us the top of our food chain, but I feel like we've been missing these simple things that used to carry us and our generations which makes us desire them more. Living inside and only concerning yourself with material things makes you miss the freedom of the wild, but living a life where survival is the only goal makes humans yearn for more. A balance between our roots and the future would bring us peace, I think.
There is something so undeniably therapeutic about watching a guy just hang around a beach collecting crustaceans and mollusks... he is literally just vibing
- The happiest people, are the ones who can find joy in the small things in life. Spending time on the shore with my family is my absolute joy. And being able to share our passion with all of you just makes it all the sweater. Best wishes and have a great day. :D
StrawberryDucky right? I found myself watching this whole video. It was just quiet, calming and simple yet so interesting. I think it just gave me a break from social media drama.
This is so great. Dude grabs a clam, scallop, or crab and he says some British like "this here's a slicky slippit, here we have ourselves a slack knacker, a hobble dippy drop, and a couple doopy dob globs."
i like how respectful he is during the vid was reading some comments and i also want to point how he tries to like and/or reply to everyones comment. Great vid
I like that you’re so knowledgeable about the area you’re walking in. It really takes the video up levels above if you were to just walk and pick up clams with no sound or commentary
Eric Flores - Thankyou Eric, sea life and the natural world has been my passion since I was a boy. Being able to teach these things to my little boy is just magic for me. 😊👍🏻🎣🦀🐚
This is the life man. I literally always wanted to explore the sea life and taste different types of clams, lobsters oysters. One of my favourite channels.
As others have said, I don't know how this turned up. Sometimes RU-vid just throws something different at you. I found it quite delightful. Watching a family outing combined with learning things. I used to live on the West coast of Canada and this really made me miss it, even though the beach was quite rocky where I lived. Those crazy people accusing you of "making your wife cook" and not sharing the food need to re-evaluate their life LOL I figured that your wife got some, but thought maybe the lad wasn't fond of seafood. Many of us don't acquire a taste for it till we get older. PS I don't like oysters, either. Unless they are smoked. Always a couple of tins in my pantry.
Thank you Judy for both your comment and for applying logic to the pinned comment. haha. You are right. James didn't enjoy seafood at that age. I do not mind how people find us, simply that they enjoy their time with us. Take care and have a lovely day. 😊
- Thank you Jason and welcome to our channel. I am glad you enjoyed the video, we are simply sharing what we love doing. If this is your type of thing then we have a few more videos I think you will really enjoy. 😊
Thank you for not being greedy and just picking up any creature you saw. I liked how after showcasing something for educational purposes, you put it back and helped the little clammy things hide again. We need more humans like this😭🙏🏾
Saint - Thank you very much. I am glad you share our views. It is a lesson we are teaching our children, take only what you need and treat the natural world with respect and appreciation. 😊👍🏻🦀🐚🍽
- Welcome to our channel Brandon. I learned a while ago that the happiest people in life are the ones who can take pleasure from the simple things in life. :D
I stumbled across this video and it brought me back to the Summer after my Mom died, I was 4 years old. My eldest Aunt Irene took me down to the rock jetty in Maine and we harvested muscles and later cooked them in a pot on a beach fire. It's one of my earliest memories as a child. Thank you.
Really fascinating stuff. Great video. I love things like this, especially on lunch break. Someone experienced in a hobby/craft, giving a run down of how it works. Seeing a slice of life from another mans perspective.
SovietWomble - Thankyou very much. We are simply sharing what we love going. Fishing and general sea life is my absolute passion. All the best to you. 😊👍🏻🎣🦀🐟
This guy seems to know what he's talking about. Even though I don't eat seafood too often, let alone go for foraging, I felt like I needed to remember everything he said. What a fantastically enthralling video.
- I am really thrilled to hear you found our video so enjoyable. We are simply sharing what we love doing. I hope you enjoy the rest of our content and have a great day sir. :)
i cannot fathom finding an entire beautiful GIANT crab like that just. on the beach. and liftin it up and walking away to eat it. that's amazing, you really live in a fantastic place
You should not even worry about what people think. You are using your time, energy and resources for our benefit. Anyone that has anything negative to say or are making assumptions should move on and don't watch. I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I grew up and live on Long Island, New York which is surrounded by water. This reminds me so much of my younger days when I would walk down the street to the Great South Bay and go crabbing for Blue Claw Crabs, clamming, fishing, etc. You can't live on Long Island without having an affinity for the water and the sustenance it provides. Loved the way you cooked your seafood right there by the ocean. Thank you for this wonderful video.
Thank you and welcome to our channel if I haven't welcomed you already. I did this when I was a lad with my siblings and it has been great being able to teach my son about it all. Best wishes to you and your family and have a great day. 😊
I love how humane you are about it. Not like these fools that brute force and take everything regardless of size. You give the little fellas time to grow true fisherman/clam digger
bull fucking shit, we're not the ones sending millions upon millions of tons of trash into the pacific. It's absolutely the couple thousand americans that go to thailand every year that are responsible for it. Don't be salty because you live in a shit hole
- Thank you very much and I am very glad that you share our philosophy. Hopefully it is something that transfers across in our videos. Never take more than you need, and always treat the natural world with respect and appreciation. Have a great day. :)

Wow! So cool! Extremely educational to a land lubber midwesterner! I'm a survivalist prepper type and it's awesome to see you guys living off the sea!!
@@TheFishLocker It's a thing in youtube that find random videos that get popular and puts them on the front page of people you haven't subbed to, and a ton of new people watch them
I think I've watched this four or five times now. Absolutely love the combination of sea life info and family beach cooking. Bravo!! More foraging and family beach cooking videos please!!
- I am glad you share our philosophy on sustainable foraging and conservation John. Welcome to our channel and I hope you enjoy the rest of our content. :)

This is literally the exact kind of content we all love, but nobody knows why or how they ended up here. Just good, high quality RU-vid videos. I love it.

Am old and will probably never be at the ocean again, however I love living and eating somewhat vicariously through you. Having been to Virginia Beach, Atlantic City and Florida I can almost smell and taste the air. Blessing to you and yours.
I don't know how RU-vid brought me here but I'm incredibly grateful. This was so relaxing and educational. I live in a small seaside village in Belgium, but sadly our coastal zone is too artificial for treasures like these. My husband and I are going on our honeymoon next week to the south of England, we're driving from Dover to Eastbourne, Brighton, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight, every place we want to see in between and back. We'll keep in mind all your tips for our seaside outings ☺️ !
Marina K. - Well congratulations Marina to you and your husband. 😊💙 I wish you many happy returns and a long and happy future. Good luck on your honeymoon and happy foraging. 😊👍🏻🎣🦀🐚
Lemon - When I first started making videos I had great difficulty talking to the camera. Now I simply pretend I am talking to an old friend I haven’t seen in a while. I am glad you enjoyed our video. All the best from Cornwall in the UK. 😊👍🏻🦀🐚🐟
I normally would’ve never watched a video like this, but you taught me so much, and showed so much respect for all the living creatures that I want to thank you for being such a great person for showing care and compassion for small and defenseless living creatures 💕👏

Liam J - We will try our best. We are coming to a quite time of year. All the crabs and lobsters have long since moved off into deep water and the fishing will start to slow down this month. But we will see what we can do. 😉👍🏻🐚🎣🦀🌿
WOW ! Thank you for this video. It brought back memories of when I was very young along the Atlantic shore in Wildwood, New Jersey. The very southern tip of the state. With my Italian grand mother, my father and my uncles. All picking up some kind of shell fish. It was all safe to eat back then. I don't know about now. Sixty five years later. Thank you again.

found your videos at random without searching for anything .. loving this, interesting, educational, and mouthwatering. Sometimes youtube actually gets it right.. most of the time it doesnt. haha.

Just discovered this today, you have a really natural presenting style and you're very informative. Makes me realise how I underappreciate the UK coast and now I want to go and get myself a meal next time I am there. Thanks for all the tips!
Thanks for this video and the collecting and cooking. I have enjoyed moving around watching what you collected. Enjoyed and also looking forward for more.😁😁I missed eating sea winkles, scallopsand crabs
I don't even know how I wound up here. One minute I'm watching a video about Pokemon and the next I'm watching some saltwater in a jar vid, then some dude's chill aquarium stream, then some guy camping in the snow with his dog and then an awesome family foraging on the coast. What a night. Great video!
I absolutely adored this video, it reminded of my childhood and foraging with my dad for winkles and cockles in Devon and the Isle of Wight and crabbing with my grandpa. I'm only 25 but these are experiences I won't get to do again and can't wait to do with my kids when I have them. Great video
I find this very fascinating and I can see that you’re very informed about shellfish and how to forage for them. I randomly got this video in my recommendations and I’ve never considered costal foraging before for some reason. Thank you for this amazing video! You have another subscriber!

Hello from North America. Fantastic video: filming, editing, subtitles. Great host and superb camera work. I was just searching for basic information on scallops and I wandered onto this amazing beach in the UK at low tide, I could almost smell the briny air. I knew I was in for a treat and so much more, so I sat back, relaxed, and went on a Costal Forage topped off with a Scallops, Cockles, Clam, Crab Beach Cook Up. I even took note of the handy Summit-brand cook stove. It was all so refreshing and lively: the forage. Then the cooking right there on the rocks, sans-kitchen. Ahhh, genius! Total joy on a Sunday morning. I'm glad you took the time to share this beautiful part of God's earth with us, and gave us some education too. What a lucky son you have to enjoy this teaching moment. I enjoyed the trip far off without leaving my kitchen, now I'm off to church with this beautiful scene in my mind. I give thanks for it all, our abundant earth and our loving Heavenly Father who gives us every good thing.

I enjoy that he isn’t greedy. Though taking for personal feast, he isn’t rude about the surrounding environment and even protects the ones that need more time to grow. One of my favorite channels so far. Very relaxing to hear you talk.
Mr.Fish Locker i have great respect for the decency you show these animals most would disregard and wouldn't let them mature, but when I saw you put the smaller ones back I knew that there aren't just ignorant people with animals.

I always come across this on days I find myself unable to sleep and I'm reminded of a kind man and some shellfish this is my 4-5 time seeing it. Always from a month to 3 or even more months apart and it always brings me joy.
There's nothing wrong with this video. My mother is really in love with this blog. She lives in a place where they depend on the ocean and when she lived with dad, she started living in the city. And watching you guys brings back her memories on how they would go out on low tide hours to get seashells and seafood on the shore. Since she can't type well on laptop and can only watch it, she wants me to tell you Mr. Fish Locker that you and your family are one of a kind! Thank you for making my mom feel at home again!
Chalyn Fernandez - Hi Chalyn, reading this comment filled me with such joy. I am so so happy that we could share our day with you and your family and that it made your mother happy. I pray you have good healthy and a happy 2020. All the best and have a great day. 😊💙
