Great training video! My shop used this machine today on 4 new tires for my 2018 CR-V using the cone on the outside. Highest weight 3.25 oz and the rest below 2 oz, no shake going up to 90 mph (test drive). They did good, just wish my 4Runner was the same, shakes from 65-70 mph!
Setup everything the exact way you did for the clip weight on a perfectly straight unbent will and once it spins it ask for something crazy like 15.0 and 10.0 any fix?
Once the wheel is balanced there is still a small amount of static imbalance. The rep said that is only for other shops who want to try to get it even lower, and didn't bother elaborating. What I would like to know is what exactly the static measurement means? the one in the middle. And when should I bother rebalancing to get it lower. I know that maybe there's no such thing as perfect but I just want to know. Thanks.
The static imbalance is the residual imbalance that is in the the wheel, This can be caused by a lot of imbalance that adds up. example. your weight location is not exactly at 12oclock, you entered a 7.5 inch wide wheel and it is actually 7.0 wide the weights you are using might be out of spec. these little things alone are not enough to through the balance off on the check spin but when you add them together it can create a residual imbalance. on the check spin the imbalance will show up on the static display press the static button and apply a stick weight to eliminate the residual imbalance.
Static balance is really only needed if it is over .25. This balancer will not only measure the dynamic imbalance (wobble) it also measures for static imbalance (hop). If it is over .25 simply hit the dynamic/static button and where the inboard laser is at is where you would put a tape weight at in the middle of the wheel.
My 2018 CR-V had one tire with no weights and drove smooth at 90 mph. Just today I mounted 4 new tires, and the shop used this exact machine. They used the cone on the outside with the laser, one tire at 3.25 oz all others below 2.0 oz and no shake at 90 mph. They did good!
I just started at a shop and was sure they were using this wrong. It was always asking for more weight. And I was right. No one even knew about the lasers lmao
Again, you’re not explaining at the top on the screen A, D, A1, D1, A2, D2 you’re not explaining all of that I see the machine is on dynamic static you’re not explaining all of that either
