Yes it does require an external antenna. We have a large selection on our website.

@overther166 You must check your SWR this can cause a problem if it is not set correctly. You can also try an external speaker to see if it is a speaker issue.

@Austin DeMarr its either that or its over drawing amps, you're better off wiring it to the battery instead.

Where can I get a speaker so that I can use the PA since this does not come with one

ive bought one of these and installed it using a gutter mount on a land rover but seem to receive only very people so im guessing the aeriel needs to be earthed out , whats best way to do this

I plugged mine in using a cig. lighter in my car and it didnt even turn on...suggestions? oh nd i have the model b4 this one...the III

how come mine doesnt make any noise do i have to put speaker on it or whats the deal

my swr is really high, i cant seem to lower it no matter what. I moved my attenna to different locations on the truck but it still stays really high. I have it hooked up to the truck battery

i have that same radio, but i aint got to talk to no one yet. cant find a signal.
