I was stupid and Bought my Darkspeed without swinging it just off of reviews. But I fell in love with this driver. I’m hitting straighter and further than my last driver by far. You can call me a fan boy now.

I wonder if someone at Cobra could comment on the trade off that was made on the center of gravity location in order to achieve the increased aerodynamics. The CG has been raised quite a bit, even compared to Aerojet and Cobra used to try and bring the CG down as close to the neutral axis as possible (original Cobra LTD driver) with their driver designs. When you raise the back skirt up that abruptly it jacks the CG way up. This also happened in the Callaway Mavrik driver as well as it had similar shaping on the sole.

Great question! We have progressive shape & mass property designs in the Darkspeed driver family. The LS is designed to have low spin through low & forward mass placement, and there is not much discretionary mass in the rear portion of the head, raising the tailing edge for better aerodynamics does not have a significant impact on the CG height. Additionally, the LS is sooo low spin that we added a back weight port to create more spin for the players who need it. The X and MAX heads have progressively lower trailing edges for the reason you pointed out, to balance aerodynamics with players’ needs for lower CGs and higher MOI’s.
