even with intervews like this his backstory was actually hidden in season 2, It took so long to get to season 3 but I'm glad they gave him such a backstory.

Me too. Easily, the most interesting character on the show. Plus, it's way more fun to like the 'bad guy'.

Kreese is my favorite character on the show also. I think he is the most interesting character on TV today. There is so much more depth to John Kresse then being the "bad guy" He's a very tragic charcter.

@@natalieshannon7659 %100 agree. When he speaks, it's never a wasted breath and what he says always comes with meaning, depth & sincerity. He is a man who experienced great tragedy and evolved from that into a calm, very intelligent & introspective bad ass. In fact, having recently re-watched the 80's version of this character, I can safely say that he has only become more interesting and better with time.

He's definitely been incredibly well developed by the show. Explaining his traumas from Vietnam gives his actions the context they need in order to make sense or at least be understandable. He is no villain, just a product of his circumstances from Vietnam, wanting to have others avoid the mistakes he made, which he views as very applicable to modern life, albeit more than most people would reasonably believe. Either way, the method to the madness makes so much of a difference.

@@Mitchthemysteryman I had a friend who strongly resembles Kreese in many ways. He was also a combat veteran who saw horrible things. Unfortunately his views of the world are truly deranged, despicable, heinous and grotesque, literally vomit inducing. I feel sorry for him more than anything. It takes a lot of courage and understanding to move beyond hating him for his views to understand that he is a product of surviving hell, therefore his own mind has become the inferno. I can't be around him anymore cause it's too depressing, he's like an energy vampire.

I just want to thank Martin Kove and the writers for giving me a villain that I feel so strongly about. Honestly, all I want from art is for it to make me FEEL a certain way, and John Kreese definitely makes me feel a certain way. The brilliance of season three is that there were scenes that made me switch back and forth between rooting FOR him and rooting AGAINST him multiple times in the span of a single minute. I don't know if I have ever had that happen with another TV or movie villain/antagonist before. Switching once in a minute, maybe, but not multiple times.

Anyone know if Martin's series "Hard Time on Planet Earth" is available for streaming anywhere? It's really good! I think fans would love to see him in a different light.

That's the thing, he's not a good guy, but he's not a bad guy either. He's damaged, hanging on with white knuckles, but it works for him.

If Johnny goes back to Reese I feel it's to save Robby from Reese. After all Robby is his only son and he doesn't want Robby to become how he was when he was in cobra kai. Also it will proof to Robby how much he loves his son.

Love the show but can we please get at least one prominent asian american lead in a show about karate? Kyler is too minor. Doesn't count much.

Well you can watch a japanese tv show about karate.. Asians are not the only ones who do martial arts you know? And asking for a japanese lead on a karate show because "it's appropiate" is in itself stereotypical don't you think?
