EPIC drummer wrote this drum part, and it's always equally fun and intimidating playing along to one of Chad Szeliga's creations. I have always felt most comfortable playing this kind of hard rock stuff (maybe a little bit heavier) but also with a very strong groove edge to it, which Chad perfectly executes. I love this.
Awesome band, AWESOME drummer.
Just as a sidenote (for the audio engineers and mixer who might be wondering) NO replacement or triggering was done in this mix. Every single stroke you hear was just eq'd, mixed, and compressed; I didn't layer or trigger or replace anything.

I still canto underdtand why theu choose Faust. Okay he makes breaking Benjamim viver, bit man, Cobus hás a really good technique and lots of diferentes aproachs on songs. Both até RU-vid drummers, dia dont show really How tuff theu até on tour but.. Cobus os clearly more techno alguma and pro, playing lots of diferentes Artists.

I wish more drummers in bands would play like Cobus, he adds in things that he wants to add in rather than sticking to the exact song or the notes that show up, it makes each and every song way more exciting and seriously just makes the audience awe-struck at how amazing the art of drumming truly is.

yeah thats Cobus's style of covers...he adds a little more. Its not so much a cover as it is a different way of playing it. Im sure he adds it just to make it more fun than it already is

There was once a little kid named Timmy who was a hobby drummer. Then, one day, little timmy heard this song. Little Timmy's life was never the same. I haven't looked back since. This song flipped the switch and unlocked a world of possibilities in my head, and it inspired me to chase my dreams. I'm forever grateful for Breaking Benjamin! Excellent job dude! cool, nice, but I'd rather see it whole time through 2-3 cameras at the same time and during the whole song. I mean the spot from your right, on your feet and from above. It would be more like a tutorial instead of showing how many cameras you have in your studio ;)

He's good at coming up with shit but sounds worst then the original . Adds way too much and leaves out some cool parts and skills from the original .Good drummer though , I just wouldn't use his videos to learn a song ,;feel like he's overhyped some ....

Really really good. The only thing I'd improve upon is maybe rolling off the bell of the ride a little better to get that more definitive bell sound you hear in the track. It's little nuances that make this a great song. Outstanding job!!!

I think cobus is good, definitely. But I think on this particular cover, he did overdo some of the fillers and cluttered the song up a bit more than needed to be. Is he a great drummer? Definitely. This cover just isn't as good as it could have been, and he certainly has done much better covers.

@incubusfinad I would if I had the means and recording equipment to do so but I don't and thus there are no videos, I'm not putting the guy down at all it's just most of the songs he covers are relatively easy to play. If you're a drummer you might understand.

I'd love to see him try and cover songs a little more technical along the likes of Meshuggah, Dream Theater, Tool and Periphery. As good as his fills are anyone can do constant fills throughout simple songs like this.

that's bollocks. The drummer is much more important than the kit. You can have the best kit it the world but if your drummer isn't an amazing quality then it's gonna sound shit and you can have a shitty starter kit and a good drummer can play the shit out of them and it sound amazing. plus he isn't doing this to 'fight' he is making videos to entertain people and do something he loves and if having a more adapted kit than most allows him to do that then who gives a shit.

@XxColeMcGrathxX I would not advise getting a cheap set like forbaca said. Sure it will make it easier to get started but if you know your going to stay with drumming, wait and invest in a set that will last your for several years, rather than a cheap one that you'll hate in 6 months. Trust me it is DEFINITELY worth the wait. If you're not sure you will continue on then a cheap set is the way to go though.

@XxColeMcGrathxX hey.im not cobus nor am i as good but hopefully my answer is worth something. it really depends.anyone can spend hours upon hours playin and get nowhere.You have to truly have a passion for it.the other part is recognizing your weaknesses and working every last detail so you can get stronger. The best way to ease into it is to get a cheap set and buy a beginner workbook. i learned from "Funky Primer". 30 min at least to start and eventually you really get goin.

@TheGh0stGamer Idk man.. I mean this cover is by far ONE of the best, but his cover of Vox Populi by 30 STM, and Almost easy by A7X.. He beasts it on those ones too, which makes it hard to pick the best. And hell, I'm not even a drummer as of right now, I don't even have a drumset, but I hope to get one someday and become just as good, if not, better than this guy. He's truly an amazing drummer.

@TheGh0stGamer Well said. I definitely understand what you're saying, and after thinking about it for a bit I guess I can agree with that as well.. A good drummer shouldn't always be about what makes him sound better as a drummer, but rather what makes the song sound best as a whole, and chad definitely did an amazing job at balancing both of those in the original. So I retract my statement that said cobus 'blew him (chad) away', but this is definitely still a badass cover.

@TheGh0stGamer I don't think so.. It's almost identical, but Cobus adds a few things here and there I think.. If you listen to the studio version of this song, and then go back to this cover you can hear a few differences. For Ex: At about 0:34-0:39 he adds a few notes that Chad doesn't play in the studio version. I'm sure there are others but idw sit here trying to find them hah. There are a few minor additions but it makes the cover that much better.

@LionelMessiII10II oh. dont get me wrong. I like cobus. But I don't think he is the best and most creative drummer ever born. I would say that I am not better than him. If I could, I would do many,many drum covers. It's my wish since I saw the first videos of Cobus. But I would need money for a nice camera and a drumkit at home. If Zurithium is seeing something he would improve, then this is POSSIBLE. So don't injure him because he thinks Cobus is not perfect. Nobody is.

Outstanding precision with a nice flare of your own! All these arguments lol, people like what they like. I love Zep but some people can't even stand to hear Plant open his mouth, I don't try and convince them otherwise, I just get the Led out and forget I ever heard a negative word. MachineGunSmith is a damn good drummer, Cobus is a damn good drummer why argue when you could be listening to the one you like or both. Opinions aren't likely to change just because you like your's better.

good drummer...but there are accents that were missed all over the place. such as the middle part of the second verse (The lyrics say.."show me where forever dies) That part was totally missed. I know you make the song "your own"...but certain accents gotta be there. And parts where the kick drum were supposed to be locked in with the bass, just wasn't happening. Such as the intro, and after the second chorus (lyric part says, "And I'll survive, paranoid") and the part before the guitar solo.

Now is Cobus my favorite drummer... He covers that song much better than the original drummers do! And he covers my favorite Bands: Breaking Benjamin Blink 182 Angels and Airvaves System of a Down Paramore... And i learn very much from this amazing drummer! Thanks dude! @MRdrummerboy619 when he did this video he was using custom Udrums. I'm pretty dure the sizes were 22 x 20, 10 x 8, 12 x 9, 14 x 14, 16 x 14, 14 x 6.5 (main snare), and I have no idea what the side snare is. Not 100% on those sizes but I'm pretty sure that at least all of the diameters for those are right.

Loved the cover Cobus keep rockin'! and also dumb suggestion but if you ever decide to another BB cover see if they have the drum lesson for it on youtube by their drummer Chad so you see all the subtle but insane things he does that may give you any extra ideas or creative pushes when you go to do it...though even then you do that and much more by ear so much respect bro :D

Why aren't you in a band?? Like covers are cool and everything, but I bet (being self-taught myself, but not nearly this good) that your own creative talent far surpasses simple covers. It would be kick ass to hear you drum your own things, although I realize you may enjoy this the most, either way, you fuckin rock.

@fbsux Personal opinion of yours. If you don't like it then don't watch his videos. I personally don't like people like MachineGunSmith and JoeyJunior as I find they infact don't overplay (as in they stick to the original drums) I just find it dull listening to drums I've already heard, and Cobus' covers if anything express his musical idea's.

There is no "hey". It sounds like he reversed part of the audio. Listen to the guitar. It all sounds reversed for a second. It definitely was not Cobus though. If something sneaked through the mix it was on BB's part, which would be a big mistake because it would've made it onto the CD.

You know somebody is an amazing drummer if they can play every genre of music nearly flawlessly *cough* Cobus *cough* the only genre he hasn't played extensively is classical (when did Mozart use a drum set?) even the drumming in Vox Pupoli is classical-sounding. Keep it up man.
