If I'm Elias, I'm not trading Mayo, Holliday, Cowser, Kjerstad, Norby, or Basallo for a playoff rental. The insane amount of potential they have, the fact that other than Basallo they're all major league ready right now, and they're all on rookie contracts with multiple years left just makes them too valuable to justify getting a pitcher back that's entering free agency after the season.
Am I crazy or was I hearing ffx music in the video. If it's there nice job! And I agree I think he is somewhat underrated. He's performing better than projected and his the amount of Homer's and walks with a good batting avg. It seems to be tougher to find nowadays
If Henderson is out for any extended period of time, or if he struggles this year (obliques can be tricky), Coby Mayo has a clear path to the Major League roster playing 3rd and DHing every few days. Mateo/Holliday can play Short, and Holliday/Westburg/Urias can play 2nd.
When you can hit like that you can be patient as you work with him to improve his defense. I am old enough to remember Wade Boggs. An elite hitter who was slow and not a very good defensive 3rd baseman. But he kept working at it and eventually became a very good defensive player. Don't give up that bat and make him take an endless amount of ground balls.
Mayo, Cowser, Kjerstad, and Stowers, and of course the three starters in the outfield, along with Westburg and Holiday in the infield with Henderson. I believe that Mayo was an outfielder who is now supposed to play third.
Mayo at 3B means that Westburg is a utility player getting 140 ABs a season, and I think he is too good for that. But Mayo at 1B only happens if Mountcastle gets traded. Mayo at DH means Kjerstad is your everyday RF of the future, and I'm not sure that's what they want. I'm thinking that as much as I want Mayo to be an Oriole, he might be the key figure in a deadline deal for Luzardo. Mayo, Stowers, one of the Norfolk starters (McDermott, Povich, or Seth Johnson), and one of the 17 year old DSL kids. I think that all things being equal, Basallo might end up as the 1B of the future.
Even if you ignore Bauer's recent behavior, he has a long history of being an asshole and a bad teammate, and would be a terrible fit for this clubhouse.
@@patrickdare5356 : You just showed you are regurgitating bs from others that know nothing just like you. I'd suggest you watch a few of his recent interviews before you judge. Funny: The MLB reinstated him. You were smarter before you posted that bs!
@@Methoes123 his recent interviews have been him trying to rehabilitate his image. There's a reason why one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball got jettisoned by three different teams. Come at me some more.
Aaaaaannnnnddddd the Orioles still haven't signed Bauer. Mike Elias is way smarter than you when it comes to putting a baseball team together. And he will never sign Bauer because Elias doesn't want to blow up a great clubhouse.
