With all of this automation 9 years ago why are we having a hiring shortage in warehousing today? This technology must have proliferated the whole industry by now.
Well yes there has been a proliferation of warehousing automation, but there has also been a proliferation of demand for warehousing work. eCommerce is shifting work from retail to warehouses. If before warehouses were handling pallets and boxes, now they are handling individual items, the amount of work has multiplied because warehouses are now doing work that used to be done in stores.
You should be able to find the Amazon warehouse and its automated robotic machines that make this look like something that is already 50 years behind the times.
This is nice, but this level of automation could be found in places in the early-to-mid nineties. Canadian Tire had one automated building in Brampton that was all robots, not even any lights in the robot areas. Tropicana in Jersey City was another highly mechanized place with similar barcode readers and conveyor-roller systems routing pallets of product to the appropriate dock staging area, final loading done by humans on forklifts. In early days at Tropicana JC, drivers used to come inside to verify loading, before they went to all pre-load and verified by the customer at destination.
i am so irritated with myself.I chose Coke to do a project on.But how in the world do u improve such an awesome warehouse !!??Omg.I should have chosen something worst and compare against Coke.
Keeping people at jobs just to keep the people busy is a waste of their time alive and blocking evolution. Sure a solution has to be found for people who can only do simple jobs, but blocking evolution for that reason is just dumb.
No one is looking for a job, people just want an income, to be able to buy food and a house and other stuff. I don't think its a good thing to stop evolution just because jobs is the current way of getting an income. Sure there is still a puzzle to be solved how to fix that, but i think sticking to the past is not the solution.
