UPDATE - INSPECTION WAS PASSED AND THEY RE-OPENED THE NEXT DAY
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Cock of the Walk in Ridgeland, Miss. is currently closed after it failed a health inspection.
Health inspectors went by the restaurant Tuesday, after getting complaints about a viral video concerning Cock of the Walk and possible rodents.
According to the Department of Health’s website, the restaurant had insects, rodents, or animals present. Additionally, it was not in compliance with possible sewage wastewater disposal.
The report stated, “Caller stated that the facility has mice running around ... Facility is also filthy.”
The owner volunteered to close the restaurant after receiving a C on the Health Department’s report.
They have until June 28 to make changes. Whenever the issues are addressed, another inspection will happen. If they pass that inspection, they will be allowed to open for regular business again.
This is their first time receiving a failing grade.

I had several friends that worked here over the years. I have heard some crazy stories, and these date back to the late 90's and early 2000's. I hope they get it together. I never worked at Cock of the Walk, but i did work at several restaurants when i was younger. If most people only knew.

i thought mexican restaurant kitchens were bad (looking at you papitos in madison) but at least the ones i've seen/worked at didn't have this kind of rodent problem

I will go again. I can see a disgruntled employee doing this but how did he get back there after being fired? I can also see that it’s an everyday battle for restaurants to keep bugs and rodents out. It is interesting no pictures of bugs etc in the dining areas and the only roach I saw was a wood roach not the bad German roach. I was eating at Olive Garden in Jx and had a German roach crawling around on the divider by our table. I think the owners will be on top of this quickly

I won’t. Health Dept said that sewage water was in restaurants & said it was filthy. This is just greed over respect for customers. I regret the hefty tips I left. Not willing to do right by humanity in this age of social media.

Did they have a change of ownership I am 50 and before I moved cock of the walk was slways a great place or did we never know because social media was not available

They didn’t have a change of ownership, but my dad was the general manager at this location but he changed jobs and even after two years they couldn’t find a new general manager so now this happened

Bro you can’t stage live animals , rodents , and bugs . What you can do is maybe blame the staff for not cleaning up the work area but who is going to place dead rodents everywhere for the camera ?

Mighty convenient. Maybe I missed something but I didn’t see anything on video that identifies as Cock of the Walk. As a retired firefighter this was mild as to what I have seen in kitchens after responding to kitchen fire.

I wonder how much of it was staged just to get back at the manager or owner. I’m sure some bugs and other issues can and do happen to all restaurants. But people are posting everything on social media just to get attention these days.
