Why aren't you folks teaching them to talk?? They are very capable even clearer than parrots. My kids taught our baby cockatiel to say Pretty Pretty Petrie ❤ The parents could talk to. Keep repeating phrases to them.

So I have a beautiful gray cockatiel and I got him when he was three months old and I started teaching him how to talk. He is amazing every morning when I open my bedroom door and I come out all here is hello baby by the way his name is baby, and then I let him out to fly around my head is the only person she cares about and sometimes it’s a little disconcerting because they poop every two minutes but he sings a song and the end of the song we know we have to do. I love you and he tells me he loves me, any rambles on about things and I know there are things to say but almost legible and the love that they have for their parents which would be me and my husband is unconditional. I could never ever imagine not having my little baby with me and I love seeing what you did and how much your little baby loves you thanks for sharing and I hope you don’t mind that I was sharing as well. I read that cockatiels the second most commonly kept pet bird next to parakeets. I’ve also read that cockatiels make great companion pets because of their temperament. I can attest to that because I have my grey cockatiel Chipper-he’s 15 years of age and my little ray of sunshine. I wonder if the cockatiel who was whistling “Another One Bites the Dust” was giving the cockatoo Snowball(whose dancing video to the song went viral)the message, “Eat your heart out, Snowball.”

My cockatiel is a snob when it comes to music. Hanaman only likes grunge. I whistled black hole sun from Soundgarden all the way through the first time and Hanaman repeated the entire song perfectly right after I finished. Amazing! He never forgot that song and whistled it often. He is so funny. In the early morning time, usually about an hour before I get up, he will chatter quietly new songs that he is learning. I will notice that when he gets a note wrong he will get mad at himself, shake his head and make a growling sound and then try again to get it right. He can be pretty tough on himself when he makes multiple mistakes. One of his favorite activities is when I put a large pile of coins on the bed. He likes to pick up a coin and then toss it on the pile to make them ping. I can sing tv themes, like the theme to the three stooges or the little rascals till I;m blue in the facee and I get nothing. Whistle a Alice in Chains song and he gets all excited.Good thing that I really like grunge tunes.

@Joanna Drazyk Yes, depend, if they are since babies tame by you is more easy to get them without bites, but if you get a cockatiel already grown by their father and mother they don't let you get close and can bite you, because they are not used to be handled by a person, I have 8 cockatiels , but the ones who really learn to sing different songs 🎵 escape from home, one of them Chiquitin, 10 years ago, escape, he was with me 8 years, and 2 years ago Lupito escape from home , he was with me 10 years, and left alone his wife Coquito , she still waiting for him, very sad. All my cockatiels are free inside of my home , frying everywhere, I don't like to put them in cage. When I said they are smart, I meant, they are smart to learn to sing songs,😊

It's flock behaviour. Wild cockatiels use distinctive sounds particular to their flock- it's like they are saying collectively: "Hey, we are over here!" So these cockatiels are following that instinct- "this is my flock. Here we are!"

My Chipper(cockatiel) isn’t fannish about being shaken like the cockatiel in the first video; it gets him scared. He has his repertoire of whistles, words and phrases and he’ll sometimes improvise his own little melodies depending on his mood. I had him perched on my shoulder earlier today. He said, “Give me a kiss,” touched his beak to my ear, and made the kiss sound. I couldn’t catch that on video, but that was such a sweet moment.

My cockatiel "Baby" also watches this video every day! He makes every sound and knows what comes next on the videos. He gets impatient and tries to go ahead 😂 He takes his classes very seriously and once the video starts I'm not allowed to touch my phone until it's played atleast twice! When I was a kid, Ed, Edd and eddy was my favorite show and my mom surprised me with a cockatiel one Christmas. He could whistle the opening theme and his name became Ed! Love you Ed!
