Coco having Alzheimer’s was very impactful. I have several relatives who suffer from this. They have moments of confusion, calling people the wrong name, or forgetting who they are entirely. And then moments where they are non-responsive and stare at the walls. Coco showed all of these moments throughout the movie. Music does help and is used as therapy for those suffering from Alzheimer’s so it was appropriate that Miguel playing her father’s song would trigger her snapping back to reality. Made me cry.
My great grandmother apparently kept giving my uncle,a child at the time, heck for burning down the barn...it was her brother that did that. She would take off on occasion *despite the door being locked. Once they found her hiding in a neighbors basement ,ying wgen they found her, cant you gear the bombs ...etc .. sad,and scary too..
Dante did not "become" MIguel's spirit guide. He was always was his spirit guide. That is evident by the fact that after Miguel becomes an invisible spirit, Dante could still see him. Then in the land of the dead, Dante was pulling at Miguel to keep him with Hector when Miguel wanted to run away from him. Time and time again, the actions of Dante are always working toward the good for Miguel. Also, at the end when Miguel sings with his family, there are lots of little things to note. Not only is Miguel singing, but his sister is playing violin and an older family member is playing accordion. This marks a complete change in attitude of the whole family toward music. Another change in attitude is that Miguel's Abuelita who said at the beginning "Never feed a street dog" is now feeding Dante from the treats on the table. Note too that Dante acknowledges the presence of the spirits of Rosita, Julio, and Victoria, proving once again that he is a spirit animal.
@@MissReeves "CHOLO" is slang term for a gang member but the slang actually does come from the word "xolo" which means dog. So they call these men dogs basically. It's not a derogotary name for chicanos, that's actually "pocho"
My grandma used to threatened me with her shoe (we call it the “chancla”) if I didn’t eat my veggies! like Miguel’s grandma lol They did a great job portraying the Day of the Dead, I really enjoyed your reaction! Greetings from this Mexican from Toronto! 👍🏼
It wouldn't work that Miguel gets back and remembered Hector from the afterlife. Like Hector explained someone needs to know you from the time you were still alive and has to pass on those memories. But Miguel didn't know Hector from in the living world therefore the only chance was to keep Coco remembering him so that she could pass the memories onto the rest of the family. The memories of Hector while he was still alive.
@@ju2545 they "knew" him from his movies and concerts. I think it's entirely possible that this is enough. They knew him while he was alive and the movies keep memory of him alive because kids watch them with their parents and so on. Even though they made it seem like Ernesto will be forgotten at some time in the future he probably never will. There are still his movies and even though people think negative of him, they will always remember him because of what he has done to Hector. He will never vanish in the afterlife. But at least he will be an outcast.
Miguel needed the picture so others could remember Hector; he could not just go back and save him by remembering him in the living world. It only counts if you knew the person in life. Miguel met Hector on the other side.
@Jenn Stetler In the movie, that's how his being remembered and honored in the physical world was conveyed, yes. But it's not a requirement to have a picture on the ofrenda; stories told will do as well.
This movie does a wonderful job showing alzheimer's. Music often is used in therapy and can help remember. Also, notice how Hector is wearing shoes in the final scenes, where he was barefoot up until the family of shoemakers accepts him once more.
Animated movies you have to see if you haven't seen them: Moana, Encanto, Monsters Inc and Monsters University, The Ice Age Movies, Rango and others but that's a start.
If you want other more recent Pixar movies, you need to watch Soul. The first black main character, about a jazz musician. Inside Out, Pixar's big comeback movie after a few duds. It's about the emotions in you head, and it's fantastic. Onward! An excellent movie that opened the weekend the world closed, so too few people saw it, but it's about two elf brothers and the adventure they have trying to bring magic (and their dad) back into the world.
Ir you're reacting to Disney movies, I can't recommend enough that you watch the Disney movie Dinosaur from the year 2000. It's on Disney+. In my opinion; Dinosaur (2000)'s a criminally underrated masterpiece, and one of the two greatest Disney movies of all time alongside The Lion King (1994). But that's just my opinion. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and no one has to agree with me at all. Please don't get angry at me and please respect my opinion. Thank you very much. 😊
@@CyberManor I’ll check that reaction out next :) the whole trilogy is honestly amazing, They just get better and better. Some animated recommendations.. Big Hero 6 and Spider-Man-Into the spider verse.
@@ambermicaels Oh nice. I’ll have to complete the trilogy. Into the spider verse was amazing. I’ve heard of Big Hero 6 too so I’ll check that out. There’s also some other animated movie, I think about a robot or something, that came out recently and people said it was good. Need to find out what it is haha. Thanks! (:
No, it's just the day of the dead again. The living (including Miguel) can't actually see the dead. But they know that they are there. That's the point.
@@angelaroberts3563 I don't think she is. Life wasn't easy back then and especially not if you had to raise a child alone but instead of supporting her and their child he took off and left her alone. It doesn't matter that it was supposed to be for just a couple of weeks/months. She asked him to stay but music was more important to him. And even though she learned that he had a change of heart and wanted to come back doesn't change the decades of broken heart and piled up anger and resentment. Things like that aren't fixed with one sentence. It made much more sense for her to not immediately forgive him.
