I met Cocorosie when I went to a Squarepusher concert in SF a couple years ago. Their tour van looked like a taco truck so I walked over there and asked them if this was a taco truck and the girl asked her rodies if this was a taco truck and then I was like,"you look like the girl from CocoRosie" and she smiled and I was like I love your music!
I prefer the original to this but I can't deny how fucking incredibly versatile they are. I'm so impressed with how much different this dynamic is but it's still as pretty intense as the original in some way. Love CocoRosie man

You don't truly appreciate CocoRosie man, just look at Bianca's eyes and the feeling in her words (especially by the end). What about Sierra? Her vocals are amazing and those back-up vocals... A live dude beatboxing perfectly... Everything in it's right place... Feel...
I remember when I was around 14, I stumbled upon this song. Found this performance & was very confused. I'm 27 now & I just happened to stumble up on this again & I get it now. Wow. What an amazing group of artists.

weirdest thing i've ever seen. because of how weird the setting is and this is quite possibly the strangest version they've done of any of their songs. sierra is a real life Snow White. they are both princesses.
Btw, Cocorosie commend rap, saying its one of the purest forms of expression. If you don't like rap or beatboxing, just chill with it for a bit. It might grow on you

I love how they made a group so freaking unique and made it work perfectly. This proves that stepping away from the usual to do your own thing can result in something really special. Like, there's no way for society to discover cool new things without someone going out and trying something totally new.
She's singing about being incested by her fucked up father "first kiss for Princess"...and she's gonna shake him off look back with no remorse. Bring incested by a close family member when you're a small child is extremely psychologically damaging, to say the least, but they have found a brilliant way to channel it through their music. This version of the song is amazing! The emotion bursting through this song is fast paced, raw, and in your face! Just watch Sierra and Bianca feed off each other throughout. Where the original is both satisfying and beautiful, this version brings to fruition so much more power. I bet the French audience was stunned.
This song is about her being incested by one of her family members. So don't tell me it sucks and don't say that it lacks originality. I can feel her sadness, I bawled out crying. I cannot believe people would say such negative things about a song that has SO MUCH emotion put into it. Can you not hear how hurt she is? CAN YOU NOT HEAR THE LYRICS? She is singing about her pain and I gaurentee you that this is better then any stupid song on the radio. This has real emotion. And you can feel her sadness.
Not trying to be an asshole here, but, there are many songs that are just as emotional as this, if not even more, I doubt they get played on the radio but there are songs that can be emotional like this, don't forget that. ❤
it's so interesting to read through comments, I personally dig this version sooooo much more than the original studio version but to each their own. This one's more fun to drum / improv over imo
I don't know much about drumming or improv.... I can barely carry a tune, and my wardrobe is about as monotone as theirs is colorful! etc. But I also think this is my favorite version of this.. It's just the one that seems to reach out and grab me, and stays with me.. some of their other songs do that too... But this?
It totally does. Typically rappers cover hard, intense themes, about harsh realities, (aside from the ones who cash in on the bling n'all) and so, the beatbox & ethereal singing with the rap about such a difficult experience hits a lot of 'notes'.

I like both equally but I probably listen to this one more. The other one is beautiful because it has a more serious tone but this one is just so catchy to me. I especially love the chorus at 1:47. Sierra has such a lovely voice

Heard lemonade 5 years ago and was not totally into it....then I come back to it and like it more, then hear this live performance going down the rabbit hole and now I can say that this group is amazing, albeit still very weird and uncomfortable at times.

I like both versions. The original one us softer, more nostalgic and wallow-ier, this one is spunky, got a bite to it and she sounds pissed in a good way! ! Me likey!!!
