The first time I heard this song, I was stunned. I'd watch The Lonely Bones because of this song. I kept it in my mind so, when I gave the life to my daughter, I named her Alice. A shinny and sparkling little girl, a very emotive and fragile little girl, a complex little girl, like the voice of Elizabeth Fraser.
@@michaelcraig9449 the movie is based on a book. It's about a girl victim of a perverted murderer. We follow her spirit and the rest of her family. The topic is sad but it's made with lot of grace and decency. It's about grief and reconstruction after a death.
Been listening to Cocteau twins/Mrs. Fraser now for 40 yrs .... She always Serenades me to sleep, with headphones on....... People come up to me and have said, ' who's voice is this??? It's heaven.....'. In 1983, we were freaks..... Today they wish they experience what we did....

I did the same thing. I cried heavy sobs of sorrow mixed with the peerless joy from knowing that I was experiencing the beauty of being human by experiencing genuine profound emotion. Elizabeth Fraser is undeniably the "voice of God". We are so fortunate to have known her during our lifetime. She opened a path leading into my darkness as well as my Light. Which is her gift to those of us fortunate enough to be able to realize how special she is because, only by becoming one with our deepest blackest emotions, are we able to know the greatest love, joy and happiness! So beautiful!

I just had my regular Wednesday therapy appointment this afternoon, and it helped me, just as it always does, on my continued journey to become a better, healthier and happy person. I owe my good fortune of self love and compassion to the Cocteau Twins and 20+ years of therapy! You are never too old to become a better, happy and healthy person! You can do it too, Diane! It is extremely harkening and magical. It is almost as if someone went back to an age forgotten by time, where sirens sing out to the oceans and nymphs glide through enchanted forests. An inexplicably beautiful song.
i know this movie was "silly" at times. but i won't hide the fact that it touched me very much. this video alone made me cry. superb acting from saoirse, just perfect
@@brosef5033The hate isn't towards the movie itself. Moreover, the book and what happened with it because due to the book. The wrong guy got accused, and the real killer got away because this was based on true events. And the book swade public opinion.
The Cocteau Twins are my favourite band, and Elizabeth Fraser is my favourite singer. Watching them perform live in Köln in 1990 was one of my life's best moments. Saoirse Ronan is not bad either.
@Bigfoot I hear ya - the film had an ethereal quality about it which, imho, beautifully offset the horror that befell Susie Salmon - will give the book a look 📚
OK, so professional critics didn't love the film... but many film goers did - me included. Saoirse Ronan was superb as Susie.. I always knew she was going to be huge in the acting world, after watching her in Atonement and ICNBYW. What a talent!!!

This is one of those movies that I have to emotionally prepare myself to rewatch, but I love it and keep feeling like I can fix the ending to make it happy. This song is so beautiful.
Making hairs stand on end these acoustic variations feel like oscillating musical notes pouring strait through my soul as if crosses through heavens gates. Undoubtedly a perfect fit for that very articulately haunting yet beautiful movie.
I can't explain the feelings this song evokes in me. I feel kinda depressed and melancholic, it makes me really, really sad after I watched the movie. Ce morceau est à l'image de Cocteau Twins, magnifique et intemporel. J'ai eu la chance de les voir en Bretagne, il y a 20 ans environ mais cela reste avant tout un groupe à écouter au calme, en contemplant un paysage, la mer. Un bonheur musical.
Reading the comments, I must say that this movie is as beautiful as sad, I can't understand how a horrible topic in a movie (or the book) can be such a beautiful piece of art, you simply can't feel that sadness while reading it/watching the movie, I mean, Peter Jackson did magic while making this movie, It's hard for me to explain this...
The first time I heard this song, was in the Lovely bones by Peter Jackson. Now I can't get it out of my head. The voices and singing are beautiful, and it fits in with the book and film and makes it even more emotional.
Marli Netflix removed it for a while but it is back, I absolutely adore this movie but my grandmother doesn’t because she doesn’t want to think that there are people like that who get away with the murder...

I really don't care about the film so much as the way this song just goes so well with the imagery. It's like each, although created independently of each other, they were made for each other and they're destiny was to find each other some day.

alice was a Cocteau twins b side as such it never appeared on milk and kisses the Cocteau twins never sold out with b sides from albums they were always new songs the b sides were all amazing as well sometimes better than what was on the album so its unfair to call them b sides, just fantastic music we will never see the likes of the Cocteau twins again so original and unique you will not listen to anything better.

The song that represents an escape from reality at its finest is, once again, the reminder that deep down there is no escape from the reality we all share and are subject to.
One of the reasons I still listen to this song, other than it's ethereal beauty, is that not only is my town the one that they spoke of in the book, but that I almost became a victim to a predator while walking the cornfield in my town, Norristown, Pa.
As someone who hasn't seen the movie I get to evaluate this music and video on it's own merit, and it is mesmerising and beautiful. Video is deep, but you have to know the symbolism.
Hearing this song brings back memories of the good old days when I would roam around browsing through second-hand record stores in order to find stuff just like this: B-sides to sold-out singles that seemingly no one's ever heard of. Way before record labels would shovel out "B-sides and rarities" box sets for every other band at ridiculous prices... well, and also way before you would just simply hit up amazon or iTunes and just type in a song's name - which however isn't the worst thing when it comes to music that would otherwise be friggin hard to find.

I love this!! Some of the scenes remind me of Salvador Dali paintings and others of the movie What Dreams may Come. It's sad, I lost a brother who died at 14, after many years of investigation it looks like he was murdered. He is fondly remembered. Sometimes there's EVIL around you closer than you'd imagine. Like next door.
I remember this movie, I think with Mark Wahlberg! I just discovered CT last summers and fell in love, didn’t know they sang this song, too. Video almost made me cry! CT is far too underrated and Elisabeth Fraser is just amazing!
