Code 3 response video!!! Pickup truck in the median and semi jack-knifed in the barrier cables. How will we untangle this mess. I wasn't sure I was going to get this video done for this week. OUR NEW GRANDCHILD MADE HIS ENTRY INTO THE WORLD THIS WEEK!!! We are so Blessed and want to thank everyone for the prayers, thoughts, and well wishes. It has been an emotional rollercoaster of a week, but our daughter, grandson, and son-in-law are all safe and healthy. That's all we can ask for............ Thanks for watching and God bless.

If I were a math or physics teacher. I'd use them for examples of geometry (force directed in a certain direction). Something my father used to say: Math rules the universe. Physics is applied Math. Engineering is applied Physics. The recovery industry (and several others) does engineering in the field and on the fly - and Ron teaches his employees as he does it.

Zach, I agree Highway Through Hell, was way overly dramatic. I watched that a few times. I kept thinking, ok it's dangerous, your supposed to be professionals, act like it. This gentleman knows the dangers, and operates accordingly. Acts like the professional he is, gets the job done . End of story. Without all the drama.

I appreciate the constant focus on the safety of the crew and the entire scene. Angling the tator as a blocker, despite it being the pride of the fleet, shows that safety of the crew is truly the #1 priority. A lot of companies do not operate this way.

Love the sound of a Federal Q siren winding up, after almost 35 months of being retired from the Fire/EMS service (32 years), forgot what it sounds like from the cab of a vehicle. Around here a lot of tow trucks run their flashing lights all the time whether they’re going to an emergency call or just going down the road with a car loaded so I think people just don’t take them seriously. As far as I know, the state Ron is in is the only US state that allows red/blue lights on tow trucks too. I’ve seen a tow truck with a siren around here but only yellow lights.
@RonPratt
@RonPratt 3 года назад
@@DVeck89 Unfortunately, there are a LOT of towing operators and other industry's drivers who overuse the amber lights so that most people have become immune, or ignore them. There are also tow ops in Missouri who abuse the red/blue lights and sirens. Of course, I know volunteer fire personnel and police officers who "misuse" their lights and sirens as well, so it isn't JUST tow ops. Anyway, I could go on and on about this subject, but I won't. Thanks for watching and God bless.

Here in the USA, not all vehicle recovery agencies can run red and blue lights and sirens. Some states allow recovery vehicles to run lights and sirens, others allow red and blues on an accident scene, while others do not allow anything but amber lights while on a scene or with a recovered vehicle(s). In Florida: * Only law enforcement are allowed to operate flashing blue lights and sirens * EMS, Fire, and a couple other agencies are allowed to use flashing red lights and sirens. * Vehicle recovery, oversized loads, vehicle escorts for oversized loads, and a couple others are allowed to operate flashing amber lights without sirens. * Road maintenance and general construction can operate flashing white lights without sirens. * Private security typically uses flashing green lights without sirens while on private property (not mandated in state statutes). www.flsenate.gov/laws/statutes/2011/316.2397 316.2397 Certain lights prohibited; exceptions.- (1) No person shall drive or move or cause to be moved any vehicle or equipment upon any highway within this state with any lamp or device thereon showing or displaying a red or blue light visible from directly in front thereof except for certain vehicles hereinafter provided. (2) It is expressly prohibited for any vehicle or equipment, except police vehicles, to show or display blue lights. However, vehicles owned, operated, or leased by the Department of Corrections or any county correctional agency may show or display blue lights when responding to emergencies. (3) ...Wreckers, mosquito control fog and spray vehicles, and emergency vehicles of governmental departments or public service corporations may show or display amber lights when in actual operation or when a hazard exists provided they are not used going to and from the scene of operation or hazard without specific authorization of a law enforcement officer or law enforcement agency. Wreckers must use amber rotating or flashing lights while performing recoveries and loading on the roadside day or night, and may use such lights while towing a vehicle on wheel lifts, slings, or under reach if the operator of the wrecker deems such lights necessary...

In the UK only Police, Fire, Ambulance, lifeboats, mountain/cave rescue and EOD teams can run blue lights and sirens. Some use a mix of flashing red and blue to the rear only with red and white mixed to the front (red lights to the front are illegal as are white to the rear unless reversing ) Doctors are officially allowed to use flashing green lights but I have never actually seen one use them (the only doctors who would actually have use for them generally use the same vehicle as a fast response paramedic which are classified as ambulances) Flashing Amber is used by any vehicle that by the nature of its work could cause a hazard or obstruction on the roads. Tow trucks fall under this as do most road construction vehicles, garbage trucks and various other bits and pieces. If we need a tow truck to be expedited to a scene they would generally get a police escort. One exception to the normal rules is that highways agency traffic officers (traffic patrol without any police powers, mainly concerned with wrecks, broken-down vehicles and moving debris off the motorway) have Amber light bars that have red and Amber to the rear (the only people to use red and Amber mixed) I think they might also have sirens although I have never heard one use it

He's played that game before kinda. Fact is; old school analog methods are still effective, and considerably cheaper. So many things go wrong with coms; especially in the high noise environment these guys operate in. Ron seems to run a pretty efficient shop. His guys are observant, responsive, professional and for the most part, know exactly what they're doing without Ron. Ron's the guy who's responsible for the big picture, so his guys follow his lead. But most the time Ron's just shouting something these guys already know to do, or is among a small list of options they were going to do anyway. They don't need to hear every word; they can easily interpret garbled shouts and pantomime and go 'oh, yeah he wants me there and to do this; Got it boss'

Nothing moves traffic like a “Q” and an air horn.

I love the air horns the county fire trucks have here where I live. You can hear roaring diesels, very serious mechanical sirens and then all of a sudden air horns that simply bury everything else as background noise. Roar! Roar! Wail! Wail! BLAAATTTT!!!!

I have seen a video where a firetruck had an airchime KL5A installed (normally found on trains) that thing drowned out 2 other engines with Qs and air horns!

Prayers for long life for your grandchild, and all the tow truck operators. If only the public would just slow down and obey all of the laws provided to make trips safe.

This has to be the best video I have ever watched. That is so BA that you have a Q on your rotator. I wish Pa would adopt Missouri laws so our tow trucks could have them. This is the best of both worlds. Towing and Heavy Rescue. Thanks for sharing this awesome footage. Stay safe and God bless you and your crew

Hey Ron, I suggest a Whelen SS2000 With a rumbler to get the traffic to move or adding a rumbler system to your setup!

This was one of the more interesting videos I have watched full length. I've always wondered how those big rigs get cleaned off the highway after a pileup.

May I suggest installing a foot pedal switch to run the Q? When I was volunteer fire all of our rigs had them and they were nice to have. Only downside really is accidentally hitting it when moving your feet around.
