Thanks for the podcast. After university I was quite the Matlab fan, but unfortunately, this is no longer so. For that I have various reasons, but right now, the most important one is that if I use open source tools, I always find that someone has build what I need, with a well defined way how I can use it. In Matlab, this is just not the case. There is the fileshare, but the solutions there are of a very different quality than, for instance, the Python Package Index. Also, you mention integration between Matlab and other tools, but my experience is that integration is always "on Matlab's terms". I'm not arguing that you cannot use Matlab to get done, just that there are freely available tools that give a smoother ride. And besides that, Matlab costs an arm and a leg.
Thanks for the podcast. But the guests are both working for MathWorks [Matlab owner], it will be better if one of the guests is a pythonic to make a comparison of both languages and their capabilities.
I planned to have someone from the Julia community on the podcast in the near future. Doesn’t change the fact that everyone will defend their tool. Yann and Heather made it clear that other tools are superior in some aspects and how you can use multiple languages in synergy.
