Saturday night and the moon is out Just a shinin' over top of the pines I'm headin' on down to my baby's house Gonna take her on a midnight ride Down them backroads winding up at Kickapoo Creek Dancin' and singin' to some good ol' boys like me Baby, there's a shooting star, That ones for me and you So, hold me tight, make that wish, and pray that it comes true Now I ain't sure of much But this I know I got a diamond in my pocket and my baby's got a heart of gold I brought along a little courage and Coleman cooler just to help me out My hands are shaking like canebrake rattler, Nothing's gonna save me now Might as well jump in head first, lay it all on the line What am I worried 'bout, never gonna be a more perfect time Baby, there's a shooting star, That ones for me and you So, hold me tight, make that wish, and pray that it comes true Now I ain't sure of much But this I know I've got a diamond in my pocket and my baby's got a heart of gold Well I didn't have money for a Broadway show but the crickets are singing to the radio And we've got tickets, on the very front row Baby, there's a shooting star, That ones for me and you So, hold me tight, make that wish, and pray that it comes true Now I ain't sure of much But this I know Well I got a diamond in my pocket and my baby's got a heart of gold I got a diamond in my pocket and my baby's got a heart of gold My baby's got a heart of gold
Colt Jones i think this is the song i will ask my prom date too. i think i am gonna carve PROM? into a tree up in the mountains then pick a good night and drive her up there.
Colt Jones it will be at night and i will start the song just before my head lights beam onto the tree so the chorus starts as the head light hit the tree.
I know a fine country Girl that got proposed to to this song. Things were meant to be that night. She and he are fine people making a beautiful life together how awesome is that?
@@gerryg5246 strong words there buddy. Shouldn't say stuff like that and you should watch your mouth. You're posting this on a video of a guy..from Texas. No one ever discredited Montana or Wyoming. After all, Wyomings treasure Chris Ledoux was born in Mississippi.
Born and raised in south Florida but moved to Texas for college. I’m now a senior and I’ve claimed Texas as home. Love this place and the country music is just better than back in FL and everywhere else - got that old sound to it with fiddles and steel guitars and good lyrics. Thanks Cody Johnson, Zane Williams, Josh Abbott, etc
I used to live in Texas i lived there for 6 1/2 years and every day i would listen to his music with my dad and i would wake up to his music because my dad was getting ready for work. This song just makes me miss Texas i haven't lived there in over 2 years almost 3.I miss all the good times of me jumping on my bed singing the lyrics to his songs knowing every work to say.
My son introduced me to Cody Johnson’s music 🎶 I ain’t sure of much, but this I know.I got a diamond in my pocket and my buddy’s got a heart of gold(My son Jared Shelton Yates’s version sang by his mama😍😍😍
Me and a girl danced for the first time out at the stockyards to this song. We two stepped and twirled like the world was standin still. We shared our first kiss after this song. We're currently datin. Glad Cody Johnson shared this memory with me and he didn't even know it :)
its a damn good song! happy to hear there are still real country singers out there! cody jinks, sturgil simpson, frank foster and of course cody johnson just to name a few!!!

saw him play this 11 years ago at a crawfish festival north of Houston; he brought his mom and dad on stage beforehand and after the first chorus, his dad got on one knee and re-proposed to his wife to renew their vows-the whole crowd lost it
