Lucky we are indeed! To live in this part of the world! Love this video! That stretch of the river is so special. You went for it on the miles! Great job! Thanks for sharing! Hike on!
It seems like that upper section of the trail doesn't get hiked very much. I just wish there were a couple better camping options and/or established campsites along the way. I keep leaving no trace, so I'm no help .... 😂
I'm a beach guy from Jacksonville Florida . I run to the Great Smoky Mountains when I can God willing. These videos are more valuable and more entertaining than anything I could ever watch on television. I appreciate you Travis and I get much enjoyment from your high quality work.Thank You Brother !
It gives me warmth inside my soul when I get to travel the trails of my old stomping grounds. The memories travel with me. Wonderful getaway, Travis.✌️
You're content is so excellent! You've honed your videography and narration skills into real talent in my opinion. Thank you for bringing your favorite world into the lives of so many.
I slept amazingly that night! Well, that is except for our midnight visitor... I would have a hard time keeping up with you the way you travel the mountains!
@@mountainwanderer I dunno, the elevation out there might do me in with a big pack! I slept outside for the first time in a while a couple nights ago. Something was making a real ruckas around 10 PM with all the crunchy leaves on the ground. Definitely spooky to hear something walking around nearby!
Love the hiking trail. Really beautiful out there. I like where you said “ I’m getting my mind in the right place before heading out “ I know what you mean. Cool video and area
back in the late 70s i used to hunt the area north of Jordan camp up off of Beaver peak. Man there are some tough areas in there. the elk had wallows deep in the ravines and even at 18 years old some of those hikes made you whimper. Hard to believe its been 45 years or so but now my knees make it tough to go to the mailbox. MAKE YOUR MEMORIES WHILE YOU ARE YOUNG.
Thanks for sharing the great video. I grew up elk hunting with my family in this area. Watching this brought back a ton of memories of family that isn't here any longer. I tried to hike Alden Creek a couple of years ago. The blowdowns were thicker than Timber's fur. Since I only had a couple days available, I gave up after half of mile or so of trying to fight my way over, under, up, down, and around. Next time, I need to plan a longer trip and take a saw.
As soon as I read this I had to jump back to my map and make sure I knew where you were talking about. I've thought about taking that route many times. There is no good way to loop back to the trail without a massive road walk, so I've never done it. Sounds like no one else is doing it either. The blowdowns can be hell!
I did not know you are from CDA. I live in PF. One-time years ago, when we had our pack Llamas, we had a large male with full pack on roll off that steep section of trail at the top of trail 20. He rolled all the way to the bottom, pack and everything in them just all over the place. He gets up as if he just fell over, we packed him back up and went along our way down to Jordan camp. I love your videos... even a lot of them that I have done, just love watching you do them, and your editing style is great.
Wow! I thought that story was going to end differently. Glad it was ok! must've been a ton of work gathering all of your things together! I'm not in CDA, I'm in the Silver Valley
I asked some folks of they wanted to go on this trip and once I started talking about the milage everyone dropped out! I do love solo trips though! I try to get at least a couple every year.
Beautiful area! You were punching the miles! Those Cervid visits after dark can be a bit spooky! Glad you had Timber with ya! It’s good every once in a while to see what you’ve still got in the tank. Some really nice fall color! 🍁🍂Great solo trip! 🥾⛰️
Beautiful area and someone did some nice rock work along side the trail. 17 miles is a long day for sure. Good thing you have a good trail partner. Thanks for another great video and take care, Al
Nice video, Travis.....Good to get out alone and push it once in a while, see where you're at, so to speak. I like the fact that you appreciate what's all around you. Many don't. Bird Dog Tom
Great trip and video! Love those flying buttresses of Cathedral Rocks. Your videos really make me miss that area. If you are ever looking for new nearby areas, check out the Kettle Range. Shasta Bubba has somewhat of a recent video. I’ll be sticking around here until at least Christmas, and even then wont have time for a trip. Thinking I need to head up the Elwha again soon though. And I’ve never been to the Bogachiel. Big, beautiful trees, but I really miss the North Idaho, somewhat open forests. Thanks again for sharing.
I've been looking at the Kettle Crest for years! Anything in Paysayten Wilderness as well. They've had some big fires through there though and it has been tough to choose a route.
@@mountainwanderer The Kettle Crest also requires careful attention to the logistics of water. I did a springtime (winter conditions) trip to the Snow Peak Cabin. Pretty cool area.
Sure have enjoyed your videos, especially the Eagle Cap trips. Curious how you include trail progress animation. Hoping it's not a complicated process using several different apps. I would love to add this kind of animation to my hiking videos. Thanks and happy hiking!
I love the Eagle Caps so much! About the maps, assuming that you have your map file/image, I use a program from Apple called Motion. In that applications it is pretty easy to animate maps.
The part hiking to Cataract Creek was a bit blurry to me. Ha! Damn dude 18 miles....so in perspective thats walking from Libby to Troy. I could see yiur cheekbones when you were under your hammock tarp..were u dehydrated? Did you cramp up during the night? Hell of a journey Trav...Tell timber Blitz says woof!
@@mountainwanderer If you would like to watch a podcast I recently shared on my channel regarding the connection between the Irish and Spanish through a meeting between Red Hugh O'Donnell and the Spanish King Philip III(it was very therapeutic to share it indeed); slan go foill(bye for now) 🔥🌧🌈🌊🌬⛵
@@mountainwandererthanks for replying. I live in this region and love the mountains. It's not so much not liking the music, I just like the sounds of the mountains better.
