Very informative. I’ve completed all of my prerequisites already and just paid my application fee. Looking forward to seeing the price and time adjustment for my own personal journey.
Thanks for watching! Congratulations and good luck in the program! Since you have completed all of your prerequisites, your tuition will be significantly cheaper than the entire cost of the program!
@@skorpia1443 Hi, I attempted the test but I didn't score high enough to test out of the course. I used the Hesi assessment book and Nurse Hub. I believe you have to score an 80%.
@@nikhajohnvalliyamannil8139 yes. It’s recorded / you’re monitored so if your camera is not built into your computer, you would probably need to get an external camera. Definitely reach out to an advisor about it!
I really want to test out on some of the courses but I’m scared. I started the online program in July and have taken some courses. Would you recommend or advice anyone to test out?
If you have the money and time to do it, I say do it because you have nothing to lose! I believe it costs about $30 to take a proficiency exam. If you pass it, you won’t have to take that course. If you fail, you have to take the course and have no other penalty. My advise is that if you feel that you are strong in a subject and don’t need to take a full course, sign up for the proficiency exam and go online to review any major topics you think would’ve been focused on in the class!
What advice do you have for someone who already have a bachelors degree , who is switching careers to nursing. How long and what is the cost at chamberlain
It’s awesome that you’re thinking about going back to school to switch careers, because it’s not easy but I definitely think that it’s worth it! Chamberlain is a three-year program and costs about $90,000, however the cost can vary and so can the time. If you transfer into Chamberlain with credits, you can finish in as little as two years and four months. Also if you come in with credits, the cost of the program can dramatically decrease. My advice would be to reach out to an advisor at Chamberlain to see how much the program would cost for you and what classes you would need to take in the program, because if you already have a degree you will not need to pay $90,000 and spend three years at Chamberlain. I would also advise you to look around at other schools. I love Chamberlain, but it is very expensive compared to other schools. A lot of community colleges have amazing programs that are a fraction of the cost of Chamberlain! Good luck!
Hello I am attending Chamberlain and I am curious as to whether you have any info on testing out of Nutrition? This is a course that I would like to test out of for next session which is coming up in May. Let me know, I enjoyed this video, it was informative. Thanks
Aw thank you! Honestly, if you search for Chamberlain nutrition Quizlet, that will probably help you the most! Sorry, I don’t have any specific tips though for testing out of nutrition!
Hello Rochelle, I’m also curious about testing out of nutrition & I was wondering if you decided to take the proficiency exam? if so, how was it? what did you use to study? I heard it’s hard & now I’m nervous. Any incite would be greatly appreciated :)
@@rochellemercy3387 Thank you for getting back to me. I’m sorry that you were unsuccessful. Do you think quizlet would have been a beneficial study tool?
I have my BA and just finished all my nursing pre reqs, like Anatomy Physiology and Micro. I would hope since I JUST took those that they would accept them
Hey! Most nursing programs will accept science prerequisites that were completed in the last 5 years! And I believe that Chamberlain does! I took anatomy and physiology one, chemistry, statistics, and a few other prerequisites at a community college before transferring to Chamberlain , and Chamberlain accepted those credits! A lot of universities also accept gen Ed credits that were taken within the last 10 years. I was able to transfer in a bunch of credits from my first degree. I had to fight for a couple and search for my course syllabi to present to chamberlain, but once I did, they accepted those credits.
@@theluckienurse wow that’s awesome!!! I just took all the science classes at a jr college so that’s good! Are you glad you went to chamberlain? Also I was curious if you do clinical hours everyday from the time you start there or how that part works? Congratulations 🎊 of nursing school!!!!!
I need to test out of History 410N and political science at Chamberlain. Does anyone recommend any material or quizlets that I can review before taking the assessments?
This may not be helpful, but I have a Quizlet account where I specifically am able to look up Chamberlain Quizlets… If you search Chamberlain 410 or the course number for political science, you may be able to find the right material!
Hey! I am not good at math at all lol so I can’t really advise you on this. But your school should have resources or a tutoring center to help. If you attend Chamberlain, they have VCAS videos on all subjects, and they should have some on algebra!
Your videos are amazing😊. I have a question. Do they use Ati to test for proficiency tests on chemistry, Algebra, and Microbiology? Do you have any idea about that?
Thank you! And yes, I believe that they do! I think the only subjects you can’t test out of are nursing classes (minus nutrition, which you can test out of). Reach out to your advisor to double check and let them know before registering for a class that you want to take the proficiency exam for it!
Does it matter what school your transferring from as long as it accredited? Like a big 4 year? I took classes at university of Kansas and want to go to chamberlain in Texas
Hey! It does not matter. The only thing is that Chamberlain does not accept nursing credits… So if you have gotten gen ed’s like English and math out of the way, they may accept that.
@@theluckienurse Seriously I cannot thank you enough for responding to me. I’ve had a hard time getting a straight answer from my case manager at Chamberlain. I appreciate your help!!! Do your science classes like anatomy & physiology & microbiology have to be completed before entry to Chamberlain ?
@@highvalue1195 Aww I'm sorry that you haven't gotten a straight answer from your case manager.. Unfortunately, it just depends on who you are assigned and how responsive they are. And no. So you can apply to chamberlain without any pre-reqs being done, which is the great thing about Chamberlain. If you have already taken these courses, you can see if Chamberlain will accept them, which will save you a ton of money! But it is not necessary. Chamberlain has Microbiology, A&P, chemistry, etc. So you can take those course in the program!
@@theluckienurse awesome I was thinking it would be more cost-effective to take as many “easier” classes before I apply in the fall and take the harder science classes during the program. I seriously cannot thank you enough for responding to me!!!! ❤️ ❤️
@@highvalue1195 No problem! And my advice is to take as many pre-reqs outside of the program as possible. Chamberlain's credits are so expensive! More than double the average cost of a credit at a community college. I took Biology, Chem, A&P 1 and all of my non-science gen-eds before entering the program. I'm still paying a lot for this degree lol but it saved me about 30K in the program! Good luck!!!
Quizlet is actually surprisingly a good resource lol other than that, the only way to actually study for the proficiency exam is to try to get your hands on a copy of the syllabus for that course. When you take the proficiency exams, they do not tell you what topics are covered or give you a study guide. So anything that falls under that subject is fair game.
@theluckienurse I would appreciate this information too what private loans are the best? I would appreciate a response btw love how you’re helping with all these info thank you.
Wow ! what a treasure of a video. Do you think ENGLISH exam was equal to TOEFL ? As english is my 2nd language, if you can give me any hints, i will be SO thankful.
Hi! What is TOEFL? I'm not sure what that is, so I'm not sure if they are similar. But I will say that when I took the English exam, there was a heavy focus on grammar (knowing verbs, adverbs, nouns, pronouns, parts of speech, and basic grammar rules like when to use a comma in a sentence). There was also material on identifying the purpose of writing material (opinionated vs fact, and persuasive vs. compare and contrast). Hope that helps!
@@theluckienurse Awesome. so nice of you. TOEFL is an exam which is required for foreign graduates to prove english skills. Its lenghty exam and checks everything related to english. I am currently kicking out science classes through profeciency, wasnt sure about english but, you have changed my mind lol
I'm starting the program in Jan 2022. I took the TOEFL iBT since English is also my 2nd language and I graduated HS from a foreign school. It was a pretty challenging exam. There were 4 parts in it and they were lengthy. My strong areas has always been reading, writing and listening. Speaking requires you to be somewhat confident and with a good flow with words. Well, being on a timer doesn't help at all lol so be prepared to be concise and to be on point. Speaking over a mic knowing there's someone remote proctoring you will cause some anxiety, well at least for me it did. I suggest practicing your speech skills prior to the exam. Brush up on the other skills too. BTW, I had to pay out of pocket for the exam and prior to this, they made me take HESI A2 and I also had to take placement exams. All because I was a foreign HS graduate. It didn't matter I'm a Licensed Practical Nurse for 15 years already. I wish they would at least offer some Pharmacology exam you could challenge to take some months off the program if you passed.
Hello! I am taking my English 147 proficiency exam tomorrow. I already took English 2 at my other school because I placed out of English 1. What did you use to study?
Hey! I think that I used Quizlet and the ATI review book to study. I think that a lot of the exam focused on grammar… I believe I made a video about this, but it’s been so long now that I can’t remember off the top of my head lol
It is a pass or fail. It would say successful or unsuccessful. And if anyone has any information that I can use to test out of history and political science I would certainly be appreciative.
Hey, yes they are. All exams are either taken in class and the professor watches you, or they are taken online when the professor is also watching and listening to you through a camera.
Hey I can’t set your full original comment for some reason but I saw that you started on the Atlanta Campus… I know it’s not nursing but good luck with your degree!!!
