Hi, I never recommend rolling but if I did, This is how I would instruct people to do it. You kept the roll in one direction and did it gently. You also formed your spine correctly. Well done. Enjoy your Buttered Rum it ages into a beautiful color and shows its history well. I’m glad you are enjoying your Chic Sparrow Travelers Notebook. I’m looking forward to seeing updates on it as you use it more.
That's marvelous, haha! Thank you! I felt it should be very deliberate, and only where I felt I wanted the leather to give in a little more. It wasn't my intention to make it age, rather just make it relax so that it cradled my things more closely. I'm really happy with how it turned out and am loving very much the Buttered Rum. I think it's already darkened a bit since receiving it.
I’ve been watching all of her videos like crazy but I came back to this one because I just got my new Golden Brown Scout Cascade and it is wildly thick! I absolutely love it but it wants to bubble over the books/inserts (A5 size). How would I roll just to square up the spine section of it so it’s a little more form fitting? I understand it’s a process over time and one I’m excited to be patient on as far as aging but I simply want to loosen up the spine only. Any tips to lightly help quicken the spine formation without damage?
Your personality is so calming and peaceful, I have been binge watching your videos and I am in love! I played the viola and your cello videos have given me nostalgia! You have inspired me so much with your travelers notebook - the wool pockets with patches!!! Genius!!! You are a lovely soul!
Aww thank you so much! You ever play your viola anymore? How long did you play? I love having the wool folders and patches, it feels so tuned to me and my needs and my interests.
Yes!!!! You rolled it!!! Yay!!!!!!! Edited to add: and I think I see ink on the back!!! Another yay!!! Editing again: I have to say that you have a very gentle demeanor and/or spirit about you. Your videos are so relaxing, and feed into my love of paper and pens so much. When you show your apartment, the details stand out to me, like the old fashioned looking tea kettle, the books, the antique desk......you have a way about you that even tho you may be rushing around crazy in life, it doesn't show. What shows is the steadiness and the 'stop and smell the flowers' lifestyle. In this fast paced world of technology, you still have a balance to your life that doesn't feed into that but let's you be you. More people in this world should follow that path. Thanks for sharing, keep up the great work! And congrats on your new teaching position!
That is wonderful to hear, thank you so much! I'm really thankful to have rolled it, it helped the leather settle in so very nicely. I love the pacing I've chosen. It doesn't fee good to rush, and I don't want to waste any more time (ironically), nor energy into the rush! It's just not worth it. I may seem a bit slow to some and I know that could be frustrating, but I'm enjoying it so much more.
WOW! Not only is the aesthetic and atmosphere of your home ON POINT, but this is also the first time I've seen someone else write at an angle as steep as my own 😂😍
I second everyone saying how soothing your videos are. Thank you! You are interested in the same things I’m interested in and are showing me cool stuff I’ve never even thought of before. Your home, and everything is exactly my spirit. Keep making videos! They are the thing I didn’t know was missing in my life!
It’s true that you do have a very peaceful spirit. RU-vidrs can be so pretentious and chirpy, so thank you for being someone who is peaceful and just real. 😊 I have watched and rewatched so many of your videos, musical and journaling related, since finding your channel earlier this year. I feel inspired by the way you live. I have kept a journal since I was 7 (so I have filled up many books) but I am particularly inspired by how quickly you fill up each journal. Please make more videos, I look forward to each one!
I sought out a video for Mr. Darcy A5 Buttered Rum. I am considering ordering it to use as a teacher planner notebook. Of my four CS TNs, the largest I have is a personal Pemberly. I do have a pocket Mr. Darcy in Buttered Rum, but I just can’t decide between the Outlander Claire and Mr. Darcy. This video has helped me fall in love with the A5.
I agree. Your videos are very calming. The Mr. Darcy is amazing! I have a Pocket Plus Mr. Darcy in a pink color. I can't remember the specific name of the pink shade. Chic Sparrow sells it. Anyway, I love 😍 it. I use it to keep all my e-mail addresses. I wouldn't use anything else.
Just wanted to say I really enjoy watching your videos, it's very soothing :) Hope to see more! I am also glad to see someone else is using Chic Sparrow similar to me and basically use it as a cover for a couple very thick notebooks instead of those thinner ones. I really like the end result of the rolling. I am so tempted to roll mine but I am afraid I will regret it! Asked you before but do you think you are going to slice off the pen loop? I really hate the pen loop and really want to slice it off but also super scared that I would mess it up :) Also your handwriting is so beautiful :)
The avec just means that it comes in two books instead of one. Tomoe river paper comes in two weights. I like the lighter gsm which is what that is in the Hobonichi I don't know that is says any where that it is but I would be shocked if it wasn't. For a heavier weight paper have you ever used the Clairefontaine in the French ruled? I like the 90 GSM when I practice lettering. Your writing is beautiful. Thank you for the video
Thank you so much! I'm enjoying this new format for videos, I'll definitely be doing more like it. Oh yay! Yes, fatty notebooks all wrapped up in Chic Sparrow goodness. You ever try smaller inserts? I like the rolling results as well. It's working out so nicely and I'm really loving the Mr. Darcy. And, yup... I did it. I sliced off the pen loop, haha! I like having them, but, it's just better I keep my pens in a case with a bit more protection. I have some reuseable pen loops though, should I find myself wanting to use a pen loop that day. Apparently, Chic Sparrow will be releasing reuseabe pen loops!
Ha! A "coffee geek" of sorts, too! Hario, as in V60 and Buono kettle, in the house! What grinder are you using? Oh yeah, loved the rest of the video, too! And, now I want a Chic Sparrow!
I am just discovering your channel and I have to post a comment. You have such a wonderful aura around you. Your presence is so calming and my anxiety instantly drops when I start watching your videos. I look forwarding to watching more! May I ask? Where did you get your wool folders from? They are gorgeous!
Really enjoy your enthusiasm for writing and how you love your paper products. What is the number of the Leuchtturm notebook you use? How do you like it compared to the Midori notebook paper? Thanks.
Wow ive been watching your videos since i found your channel, i like your simplicity and very natural in your videos hope we can be friends. Thanks. Love your book stand and your books. I have lots of books but dont have book stand so,my books is everywhere. 😊❤
Great vid! I like the Midori MD notebooks too and used them for my journaling last year....ended up with four books which perfectly lasted one per quarter (I journal quite a bit). I liked them but prefer the smoothness of the Hobonichi Cousin Avec's tome river much more which I also have and love very much!! Hope you enjoy yours and i love your cover, looks like it will age beautifully.
I love that your setup is primarily geared for your journaling needs. I'm wondering if you're missing your Maverick at all and if you see yourself moving back into it?
I love, love, love your wool inserts. Okay, well I love all the things, but especially your wool covers for your notebooks. I'd love to try to create my own. Did you finish the edges?
Jenny Olsen thank you! That’s the thing I love about working with wool felt, no edge finishing necessary! It’s just a matter of personal preference and what look you like. I did not finish the edges.
Love your videos and I love journals. I am seriously considering getting a chic sparrow journal for work (right now I use an A5 leuchtturm1917 hard cover, which only has a few blank pages left.) I take a lot of notes at meetings--does the TN journal-style lay flat enough? Is there a size or an insert that you would recommend--thinking for portability I may go smaller than A5. I am not as fussy about it for personal journaling, but at the office I need to write quickly and do not want to fight with the pages. I look forward to your advice! Thank you for all these wonderful videos.
Love you and your channel ❤️. I have used a top of the line leather zippered Franklin Covey for decades but I notice now I get bleed through ghosting with almost all my fountain pens, especially vintage (f) flex ones. So I tested 6 pens. Only the very thick Moonman C1 (EF) did not bleed through. Any thoughts, do I need to switch to your Japanese one? No zipper on a planner scares me a little with expensive pens. 🙀 (PS: crescent sketch books never bleed through)
Thank you so much! I wrote with a Sailor Professional Gear, and the "Thanks for watching" was written with a vintage Wahl No. 2 with flex nib. Such a great pen to write with. Oh and yes, the green ink! It's SO incredible. I love Iroshizuku inks.
Love your videos! I don't know why but they make me feel peaceful... Also I have a question if you don't mind: when you put your fountain pens on the pen loop and close your TN with the elastic, are you worried that you might damage that area of your pens in the long run? I'm always worried about that... But then I love how convenient it is to just have your pen with your TN. Haha I'm so torn!
mo zhou hello and thank you! I’ve actually not have had a problem with the bodies being damaged by the loop or elastic. Perhaps if it was a painted pen, it’d create damage in the long run. But I’d say most pens will be more then fine. The only damage I’ve experienced was when I dropped my tn and the way it fell, landed on the pen in the loop and cracked it in half. I am much more careful now. -.-
Just stumbled on your videos........thoroughly enjoy them. Do you sew your own felt folders? If so how thick is the felt? I'm tempted to trymyluck making one . Thank you
Jennifer Novara hello! I can’t remember the thickness of the felt, it does add some bulk, but it’s a great material to work with . It’s easy to sew felt, no edges need to be finished!
I don't regret it. Sometimes, you just got to experiment first hand in order to get a sense for what you like. And sometimes, tastes and needs change. Now, I'm journaling in a B6, haha. I'm enjoying it so far, but I don't doubt that it will change again in the future. xD
looooove watching your videos and seeing your setup. by chance, do you know the approximate thickness of the wool felt you used for your wool folders? have a great day 💕
Hi! Sorry for such a late reply! I found them on etsy. I can't remember the seller, but I know I searched for 100% wool felt on etsy and many options came up.
OOoh congratulations! What model/size did you get? Did you have a classic style prior without any pockets? That's a really tough question to answer. I have a few that have been in my daily rotation for a couple of months now. I just posted a video about them actually! There are a few vintage pens though that hold a special place in my heart.
@@adventuredenali I just ordered a deluxe A5. My other one is a pocket with stitching no pockets. It is very thin leather. What ever position I bend it in it stays. Like if I were to fold 1 inch of top cover back it would stay there until I bent it back down. I prefer something a little floppy.
I know that I am pretty picky in the smaller ones I Have a Maverick and it Is a little too stiff for my taste but I think it's because it's small (pocket) I'm hoping that my buttered rum is thicker I just like it in a thick leather I like the pemberly and cream but my all time favorite is The deep army green Outlander I love the feel of it I also have a small Claire but it doesn't feel like the green love love love that green Outlander. I have in the weeks cover. I have thought about getting it in a B6 and asking for one a little lighter in color
@@adventuredenali Thanks for the reply. I'm just starting to journal. I bought an impressive prompting journal called 'Better Every Day' and it will be good to start the practice, but want to explore some other journaling options such as list and gratitude journaling (which I do in way already.) Anyway, I've found several of your videos very inspiring because of your passion and enthusiasm. Thank you. PS What do you teach ?
Welcome down the rabbit hole lol I have a notebook recommendation if you haven't used it before; nanami studio note A5 498 pages of tomoe river paper grid pattern.
Hahaha rabbit hole indeed! OH! Thank you! I'm always looking for notebook suggestions! I'll check that out right away. I'm currently running a Midori MD Notebook with grid and have really enjoyed it quite a bit.
Olivia Eff hello! I actually made them myself! Super easy to do, just requires a sheet of felt, folded in half essentially. I wet and iron the fold so that it’s well creased.
Your silent video parts are very good artistically wise and very entertaining . Maybe you should consider to make a video completly without talking. I think that would be a really important contribution to the art world 🤗
Oh yes! I would love to do something like that very much. A day in the life type video, all sped up with no talking or music, just the strange sounds recorded on video as I go about my day.
@@adventuredenali Thank you! I have a personal size now which I love for portability but I feel a little crammed for space. Yours looks like you have so much room but it's not too huge to take it with you so I was intrigued to know the size
