Welcome to our English lesson today! We will practice our listening and speaking skills and also learn some interesting vocabulary and expressions. Our story for today is “Priya's Conversation at the Coffee Shop." Listen carefully. Priya's Conversation at the Coffee Shop Narrator: Listen carefully to Priya's story about her conversation at the coffee shop. Priya: Hi, I'm Priya. One of my favorite places to relax and study is the local coffee shop near my house. The atmosphere is cozy, the coffee is delicious, and the owner, Suraj, is always friendly and welcoming. Narrator: Priya continues to describe her visit to the coffee shop. Priya: Last Saturday, I decided to visit the coffee shop to work on my assignments. When I arrived, the shop was bustling with customers, but I managed to find a quiet corner to sit. Suraj, the owner, greeted me with a warm smile as always. Suraj: Hello, Priya! It's great to see you. What can I get for you today? Priya: Hi, Suraj! It's good to see you too. I think I'll have my usual, a cappuccino, please. Suraj: Coming right up! By the way, how have you been? How's college going? Priya: Thanks, Suraj. I've been good. College is quite busy, but I'm enjoying it. Today, I have a lot of assignments to work on, so I thought I'd come here for a change of scenery. Suraj: That's great to hear. This place is perfect for studying. I'll get your cappuccino ready in a jiffy. Anything else you need? Priya: Actually, could you also get me a slice of your famous chocolate cake? I've been craving something sweet. Suraj: Absolutely! One cappuccino and a slice of chocolate cake coming right up. Narrator: Priya describes how she settles in to start her work. Priya: I set up my laptop and notebooks on the table and began working on my assignments. The coffee shop was filled with the pleasant aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and the soft background music was soothing. It was the perfect environment for studying. Narrator: Suraj brings Priya her order. Suraj: Here you go, Priya. One cappuccino and a slice of chocolate cake. Enjoy! Priya: Thanks, Suraj. This looks delicious. By the way, I've always wondered, how did you decide to open this coffee shop? Suraj: That's an interesting story. I've always loved coffee and the idea of creating a cozy space for people to relax and connect. So, a few years ago, I decided to take the plunge and open this coffee shop. It's been a rewarding experience meeting so many wonderful people like you. Priya: That's amazing, Suraj. You've created such a welcoming atmosphere here. I always feel at home when I come. Suraj: I'm glad to hear that. That's exactly what I wanted to achieve. If you need anything else, just let me know. Narrator: Priya continues working on her assignments and enjoys her coffee and cake. Priya: Every now and then, I would take a break and just enjoy the ambiance of the coffee shop. The cappuccino was perfect, and the chocolate cake was delicious. I spent the next couple of hours working on my assignments. Narrator: Priya describes another conversation with Suraj. Suraj: How's the work going, Priya? Do you need a refill on your coffee? Priya: It's going well, thanks. A refill would be great, actually. I think I might stay here a bit longer. Suraj: No problem. I'll get that for you right away. It's always nice to have good company here. Priya: Thanks, Suraj. I really appreciate it. Do you have any recommendations for a light snack? I might need something to keep me going. Suraj: Sure, we have some freshly baked croissants that are quite popular. Would you like to try one? Priya: That sounds perfect. I'll have a croissant, please. Narrator: Priya continues to describe her experience at the coffee shop. Priya: The rest of the afternoon went by smoothly. The coffee shop was the perfect place to focus on my work, and the occasional chat with Suraj made it even more enjoyable. By the time I finished, I felt accomplished and refreshed. Narrator: Priya describes leaving the coffee shop. Priya: As I was packing up to leave, Suraj came over to say goodbye. Suraj: Heading out, Priya? I hope you got a lot done. Priya: Yes, I did. Thanks to you and your wonderful coffee shop. I'll definitely be back soon. Suraj: Always a pleasure to have you here, Priya. Take care and see you next time! Priya: Thanks, Suraj. Have a great day!
