It's great hearing someone that i can relate too in the trades who looks at a white wedge as a one day (these kind of looked great the first day I got em) type of vibe. I asked White's since they offer some MTO options whether a black Vibram 100 lug is an option and they said no. Really preferring the compromise that a Thorogood 1957 Moc Toe has with their black wedge sole but it's cut not to look like Frankenstein elevator shoes and equally as comfortable. PNW makers seem to focus more on the leathers and build midsole up while others focus on stitching and soles down. Happy birthday, Carl!
Triple Aught Design used to be kind of a bargain for Made in USA clothes (still is if the quality is still high), especially compared to heritage brands. Their denim jacket, the Interval PD, is such a cool twist on the classic denim jacket, I love both of mine. But the company was recently sold at auction because of financial issues and the new owners have run sales nearly constantly. I'm hoping the quality hasn't dipped, would love to hear if anyone has had experience with post-buyout TAD gear.
Been watching for years. Bought a pair of your first collab with Nick's. I'll never own a $300 flannel shirt, or $200 pair of jeans, but it's still fun to watch.
I think the people aren’t buying expensive garments because they’re expensive. It’s because they last longer than the cheap stuff. Cry once buy once is my mantra. I still have the same flannels and jeans from over 10 years. They were a little pricey but I only had to do it once.
@@bfettrules1239 Mine are also that old, or older. I wear stuff until it falls apart. Nothing over $50 (shirts and pants). Probably can't replace them for that, at least not the flannels. Jeans are still cheap, unless you want a label. Rip that $500 shirt on some sheet metal, or snag it on a piece of angle iron and you will definitely cry twice. A $500 flannel shirt is like a $10k watch. It does nothing "better" except make the wearer happy...maybe.
Happy Birthday to the May Murwaskis. My girlfriend and I are moving across the country (Canada) so I can do my MA and there is a lot to sort out for the move and it’s all very expensive and rather stressful. At the same time I try to be mindful that a lot of stuff has worked out well for us too, I got into the school I wanted and we got into the student family housing. So that’s my thought on gratitude in my current moment.
I have the TAD Intercept PD jeans and they are less like Origin Work Jeans and more like if 1620 designed a pair of jeans. I love Origin, but TAD blows them out of the water. Only one issue: they are really long and cut like 1620 regular fit. I typically wear 36x32 in most pants. The waist is great, but the length fits like a 34 inseam. I had to break the golden rule and wash my jeans before wearing to shrink them up a little. I will be purchasing another pair in 36x30, because these are a perfect tactical Jean for larping on the weekends and working on the job site.
dang man, those UES flannels are sweet! i took the plunge to nicer flannels this past winter with a couple of Pladra's and have really been loving those. defintely got the bug now and wanna try out a couple of other guys and UES is for sure on that list... also, can't wait to see your collab with Thursday! :D
I just order my first pair of nicks. The moc toe. I was educated about boots from your channel. I made the decision to sell off some of my boots and put that money into a pair nicks so that I can wear what have instead of having to pick every day.
Don't forget Mothers Day and high school graduations as well. I also those White's are a bit pricey. But, White's has a MP Sherman Cao Toe made from Kudu leather from CF Stead. It's $750. Do you think that price is worth it. I have them on my radar, but the price is up there. Really like the channel. Look forward to seeing them. That UES flannel is pretty awesome but everything Capital makes looks like an accident in our old bleach farm. When you saw someone wearing threaded hem Capri pants and shirts with holes in them you knew they didn't wear their PPE. And $525 for a half ruined shirt> PASS!

The Kapital stuff is too much fashion for my tastes and the bottom of those shirts/jackets look like the dog got to it when she was bored and angry about being left home alone. The FreenotexWhite's also strikes me as aiming for fashion, for a statement and that's cool but understated elegance this is not. I'm sure every geek noticed how well the UES flannels match on the pockets, which is an expensive and careful touch that adds so much but remains nearly invisible. Nice job, as usual, Carl.
