Interestingly, in the Vedas, devas and asuras (ahura) are not enemies and the same gods are referred to as both devas and asuras such as Indra. It is only in later hinduism they become sort of enemies and even then not in this extreme sense. There are also stories of asuras worshiping Shiva and receiving boons.

All Indic religions Hinduism Jainism and Buddhism all talk about reincarnation and how to manage your Dharma (Duty or right deed) and Karma ( fruits of your deed ) to attain Moksha. Also the Indic religions are polytheistic to some extent but one would be surprised to know Hinduism specifically shares some traits with Zoroastrianism. Hinduisms oldest texts Vedas talk of Devas ( similar to angles the heavenly beings or demi gods ) who are good guys and Asuras the demons or bad guys in mortal combat. In Zoroastrianism Davas are baddies and AHura is good and both ancient texts talk about Soma the elixir of immortality / invincibility and the distillation and extraction process explained in respective texts is almost the same. So they must have been warring tribes at some point and both had concept of fire ritual. Persian and Sanskrit languages have lots in common. It seems like for Jews and early Christians must have lived in a world greatly influenced by Persian culture hence they needed to get association and approval of people part of the then popular culture. Same goes with Islam associating with Christianity and Judaism for the very same reason later.

I am truly intrigued by how i can understand a lot of words of a language I have no connection to , it seems very similar to my language in India . Gatha , asha , daeva , ashura are regularly used words and they also have a very similar meaning .we worship daevas not ahura , but ashuras are regarded as bad beings who aren't truely dark as many of ashuras are great devotees of hindu gods .
