I see it like this… if Senga stayed healthy then it was worth trading off 2-3 top prospects for a top starter and bullpen arm to actually go for it. But without Senga we don’t have enough even with a trade to win a World Series. We will go to the playoffs but not enough to win so I’m saving prospects for next year for the all in. I’m not going all in this year. I’m happy as hell we go to the playoffs. Didn’t think they could. But here we are. Let’s enjoy it and see where this goes but I don’t see sterns blowing up the future unless something crazy pops up. And by crazy I’m not talking Snell a guy we could have had for just money and passed. Not giving up money plus top kids for him now with his 5+ Era and high walk rate. No way.
And TEX "had enough to win" when 2023 Playoffs started...?? Oddsmakers didn't think so, and neither did "experts/pundits" and fans alike - Please identify who picked TEX to win when the Playoffs began...??. News Flash - 2024 METS top-to-bottom are BETTER than 2023 TEX Rangers - So, yes, the METS can win the WS this Year
You said, Stanek whatever. Why did you say that 😊🤔😐 In his next appearance he should be making what happened on his debut go away. He'll catch on with his fire for the Mets. It wasn't really on. He wasn't really burning on his debut with fire. But you can see his stuff. His next outing should be a shut down one.
Billionaire owner, small market GM: the Mets are hot and the GM isn't really trying to put them over the top; strike while the iron is hot, the owner is RICH, Stearns make your pitch. This guy was a coveted GM? Make the adjustment to the long-term plan, seize the moment.
@Gemz...POSSIBLE - Here's how - (from another post I made earlier) METS well on-track for 88 Wins - 31 - 24 (.564) gets it done...If METS and PHI continue their respective pace, METS catch PHI for NL East Crown...not saying it WILL happen, but is is starting to look possible...METS are 35 - 17 since May 29th (.673 Winning %)...PHI, on the other hand, is 27 - 25 from the same 55 games-played period...There are 55 Games left for METS & PHI, including 7 vs each other. 8 Games separate METS & PHI...If PHI goes 28 - 27 in last 55 games for 93 - 69 regular season record, the METS would need to go 37 - 18 for 94 - 68 to win NL East...37 - 18 is .673 Winning % and EXACTLY the same as the METS have been playing since May 29th over 52 Games since then...Not likely, but POSSIBLE...?!?!
Sal I'm with you. I've complained about things you've said in the past but I'm with you in this. The time is now. It became now and I believe Stearns with Cohen need to adjust to the fact that it became now. They have to be fully aware that they can really charge forward from this point and be a real threat to make it into the post season and be a real threat in the post season. They are only a couple of the right pieces away. They can't be this close to being that team and not change into that team when they have the opportunity now.
@jason...They have been well on-track for Playoffs since May 29th with this team "as-is" + the brilliant Stearns move to get Maton...They are 35 - 17 (.673) over the course of the last 52 Games since the low of 22 - 33...88 Wins in sight by cooling off and playing .109 points less Winning % ball from here...31 - 24 (.564)...2nd Wild Card - at worst
I am just worried that the price is going to be too steep for anything significant and we shouldn’t go super hard to ruin our future for this year but we need some pieces to look here. I think generally speaking we should just get “another” pitcher or two rather than a huge risk high reward play
Roger's is off the table. To the Orioles. Good. Take Roger's. Take Taillon. Give the Mets none of those lesser options so they are forced to go for Snell or Scubel if the Yankees happen to land Flaherty who I want the Mets to get.
Cant believe we didnt get Scott! I agree 100 % with ya Sal!!! Whats the percentage of prospects making it to stardom??? Paul Friggin Blackburn??? He with a 4.83 era & 139 whip in 8 seasons with the A's??? Thats Goin for it??? When I saw the pic of a guy with A's Uniform I was thrilled!!! I thought it was Miller thinkin .boy we really are goin for it! Instead another scrap heap pickup!
There's no Cespedes type player that could dramatically change this team. The current team as constituted already made the big move to change their season in how they've played since June 1. There's just no big move to be made with this trade class.
Exactly. This isn’t a WS team. If Senga was still here then maybe go for it and grab top pitcher and pen arm. But now? No. Let’s enjoy the wild card race and the playoffs and see how far we can go and next year is all in!
I don't believe that this lineup or rotation is better than in 2022. They're playing well, but 2022 was something truly special, until the ending, that is. Another Licata L take
@@stanfromwestport2024 How is the roster better when the pitching staff as a whole isn't better than 2022? Scherzer, Bassitt, deGrom later in the year definitely trumps this year's rotation. Diaz was at his apex. Huh? The lineup isn't better, either. That was Marté's only healthy season here and he was an All Star that year, along with Alonso, McNeil, Diaz. McNeil won a Batting title for not just the NL, but led all of MLB. I'm sorry, but you're not going to convince me that this year's team is better than 2022
@@manintheglass254 2022 METS - .259 BA, 4.76runs/gm, 1.055 HRs/gm 3.57 Team ERA...2024 METS - .250 BA, 4.95runs/gm, 1.30 HRs/gm 4.17 Team ERA....Some stats better some stats worse...But, if METS play out the remaining 55 games @ .550 Winning% or better, all those Team #s should improve...And if (?) METS make 2024 Playoffs, we'll see how far they can go vs. 2022
WHaaat...?? McNeil has been lights out since AS Break...+ he will help the rest of the way + Playoffs...Pitching is very solid now top-to-bottom + Senga returns for World Series possibly
Neither the Yankees or the Mets will not acquire anything else significance. They'll both disappoint to end season. we'll look back and lament not selling at the deadline as they both loose significant peices for either nothing or next to nothing
Are you nuts...???!! Jazz lights out 6 for 15, 8 RBIs & 4 HRs - Judge & Soto-like #s...Maton lights out 10 Appearances, 9 IP, 3 Hits, 1 ER, 2 BB, 11Ks Cy Young-like #s Both Yankees and METS stole these guys and made BEST AL & BEST NL acquisitions all Year - Already a proven fact by their play...!!
