To me, fair friend, you never can be old For as you were when first your eye I eyed Such seems your beauty still. Three winters cold Have from the forests shook three summers' pride Three beauteous springs to yellow autumn turn'd In process of the seasons have I seen Three April perfumes in three hot Junes burn'd Since first I saw you fresh, which yet are green Ah! yet doth beauty, like a dial-hand Steal from his figure and no pace perceived; So your sweet hue, which methinks still doth stand Hath motion and mine eye may be deceived: For fear of which, hear this, thou age unbred; Ere you were born was beauty's summer dead
I'm running on circles of love, joy, happiness, sadness, loneliness, even despair. I can't stop listening to Coil music. After some time it's become a thick troubling center of pulsating nerve somewhere deep inside me, almost only Coil music all along know a way to touch it. Now i feel a great sadness but that sadness is joyful, that sadness is beautiful. Even if they are not exist anymore their music will live inside me, along with themselves and with their feelings. I will take that music to my final grave with pleasure and confidence. True art can make you eternal.
Yep, Nurse With Wound got very interesting and unique sound, i like them. Should we make a full list here? I'll contribute with Sunn o))), Raison D'Etre, Throbbing Gristle (at some points). What else? Contagious Orgasm, Einstürzende Neubauten, Test Dept., Vivenza, The Angelic Process? David Lynch & Alan R. Splet Eraserhead soundtrack as a little bonus? I think i might forgot something. Also i thinks Trent Reznor, as someone who have a huge inspiration by coil, deserve a place here with his soundtracks.
I don't know, but this kind of music is becoming one of the best genres for me...first I was like WTF is this music? but now I really enjoy listening to this
I remember the times when i was into coil in the late 80's and trying to get my head around things in my life . and at many a time i found myself ever so unable to do so . i remember listening to the album this track is originally on 'scatology' and trying to end my life , spending hours on end , fantasizing , days on end on how to end my life .... fucked up times they where .
Well, I hope you re still alive and good since your comment is already a while ago. I lost a friend to suicide two days ago and wherever you are, have a good life
The important thing for me is: this is your life, live it, probably there's no other kind of existence, dont waste it thinking in the future (next year, heaven, etc)

It's from Derek Jarman's The Angelic Conversation. Coil provided the soundtrack some of which was released as How To Destroy Angels. This however appeared on Scatology.
coil have been trying to open the gates in the very psyche of our being. for some they have accomplished so. when this has been done, all is revealed, the gray world we are living in, the dreamless solutions we are offered by the capitalist system, the neoliberal solutions, and the so. coil tried to open a road in the way we perceive ourselves versus the other. the very understanding that in order to perceive "me" there should exist the "other".
Never forget that Coil where a very experimental entity which used musick as a medium for different purposes but modern Pagan spirituality was a recurring theme in their corpus and the main reasin I discovered their musivk along with Throbbing Gristle and P .T.v. off course..yet coil is the most impressive band it it's genre and beyond..Even NIN is eternally in dept towards Coil.
Technically, it wasn't Trent Renzor who did the NIN version - his friend, Richard D. James, alias Aphex Twin, composed the version you hear on the album.
Aphex Twin did the other half of 'Further Down the Spiral', yes. However, Richard did with with 'stuff he had lying around', meaning tracks he had made, but didn't feel it was worth putting into anything he was personally working on. Not a whole lot of anything went into it. The thing is, it still sounds brilliant. Trent Reznor + Aphex Twin working on something..? No wonder why it's my favorite remix album, a proper 'sister album' to one of the most influential albums of the 90's.. and very high on my list of all-time favorites. My favorite track off of 'Futher Down the Spiral' is 'Beauty of Being Numb'.. something so odd about it. Odd in a great way, of course.
"Ah yet doth beauty, like a dial hand, Steal from his figure, and no pace perceived; So your sweet hue, which methinks still doth stand, Hath motion, and mine eye may be deceived: For fear of which, hear this, thou age unbred, Ere you were born was beauty's summer dead. "
Wow... I listened to this song yesterday expecting it be something similar to Cold Cell (idk why, Cold Cell is imo COIL's saddest track), and wasn't really feeling it. Now I'm listening the next day, and I must say, it has totally grown on me. It's a different kind of sadness then that of Cold Cell. I don't know how to explain it. Hopefully someone know's what I'm talking about lol.
Poeple who really lives doesn't care about all this stuff (what's after death, or before life); they just live. So can we. We'll see when the time'd come.
wow i have to say, i'm really knew to this. I knew the NIN version (who i love) but, i expected a really harsh sound. Instead it's eerie, but utterly soothing. Absolutely amazing.
I love this. I don't think I've ever heard of Coil. Time to find out what the rest sounds like. And the video is amazing as well. A morbid music video can't get any better than this.

anahitamus im more interested in the movie coming out by oliver stone in november. unBALANCED. THE COILED ONE HITLER. failed like weyland yutani corporation. the crook eyed pissing its pants weak stomach tetsuo to some. drowending raptor in a triathalon. couldnt make the 800m swim team or the mile swim.
this looks to me like its from derek jarmans "the angelic conversations" film which featured an alternate version of "at the heart of it all" called "montecue"(i think the cd isn't handy)
@Schaard interestingly enough, neither Jhon or Peter believed that death was "the end," even if you do. However, I agree with you that references to traditional concepts of "heaven" certainly do not apply when it comes to Coil's message.
Is it really a fact that the coil catalouge is nearly sold out? Im sarhing for 'Black Antlers' and 'Remote Wiewer' and have had no luck so far. Im really happy had had the honour to see Coil, in Oslo(!) . The Key To Joy Is Disobidiensce i think that tour was called. In 2004 or 2005, sorry for my miserable memory. Anyway, i'll continue my search. Goodbye.
A great song...Reminds me of "Summer of no content" by the Prunes. This is no accident, of course - since Gavin Friday (ex-Virgin Prune) actually contributed to this album ("Tenderness of Wolves").
