Coil is not so much a band to as much as they are a friend. I'll lose touch for a while but always reconnect, and in the process find wonderful things in it that I had not yet grown into before.
Had the great privilege of meeting Peter and being invited to his flat in Chiswick, London umpteen years ago, rats in glass boxes et al. Truly inspirational, he even let me view private vids....
I'm guessing these videos had illegal content on them. He encourages everyone to act out all urges and feed there demons. Listening to their lyrics, I can't imagine the urges he has acted out
Great upload! When explaining Coil to someone who has never heard them, Ive always use the phrase "music that is more than music". The intentionality and magic is so apparent, it really cannot be mistaken. amazing to hear Jhon and Sleazy speak to those intentions.
Great interview! Thanks for uploading! I like this because they get into the more theoretical and magical aspects of Coil as opposed to the technical, musical, or historical. I would like to hear or read more along these lines. Somewhere, in some dusty corner of a house, are the journals and papers of John Balance. Perhaps they will be published one day. Another thing that struck me about the interview was John's optimism and excitement...wanting to meet people and planning the future. Alas...
Yes, for such a brilliant artist, he died in such a pathetically stupid way, falling while drunk. Yet here he says "accidents are not accidents..." So there it is. Peace out, bro.
i normalized the audio in goldwave so jhonns not drowning her question out as much but i still can't hear it really "talking about silence.... blind" "blind?" "have you ever thought about silence"
