Good an explanation of how the index works. So it has a backbone of retroarch that's been modded. Knowing this I can set a directory for roms. Recalbox and bocetera don't allow for internal rom directories without overly complicated steps that no one will explain. I'll be going with coinops for now. Hopefully the others will make it easier to do so in future updates.

Great tutorial on this! Thank you so much for sharing. I mess around with emulation every so often but love this one stop shop feel where everything I want is there with an option of adding anything else i want. Is there a mini pc you would recommend to run this smoothly?

Hey! I'm glad you found this useful! There's a variety of mini PCs out there - I've found a few that I'd use myself, however mini pcs can rack up in price very quickly. But for a good setup that would be great for emulation (potentially some AAA titles as well) would be: Beelink ser5 for emulation alone, however the ser6 Pro should do you for the more graphical intensive things. If suggested systems is something yous be interested in, I could put together a comparison video for you!

Many things, you can compare the 2 on the arcade punks website, but it will be different in the systems and or roms include, theme/style and I believe legends 4 will be more up to date in the emulators used. But legends 2: bitwars seems to have the most variety in my opinion, so it's a good pack to start with

Great video!! I've just bought an ROG Ally and thinking of installing this. It's a Windows system so should work no problems right?

Provided the Ally can run all the emulators included and you have enough storage - I would recommend to actually download and extract the files on a PC, then copy the extracted files over (if you have a pc you can use) That way you'll save space temporarily on the Ally and should get better download speeds on the PC

Love these videos! Was able to set all this up thank you! My one question I’ve run into so far is I have a dual monitor set up and when I launch bitwars it launches on one screen and the other goes black. Can I change this?!

Unfortunately I'm away for a couple of weeks so I can't test this, but potentially, you can right click the bitwars app, select properties and see if there is an option to launch in windowed borderless?

@@ShanesSpace Thanks I tried that and it didn't work. but what did work is going to setting.conf and changing the number of screens to 1. for some reason its default to 3. May have to tinker with this more. but I can multitask now.

@@ShanesSpace Yeah the only unfortunate part is when I change it, I lose the animation and title for each system at the across the screen and at the bottom. If I change it back to default all those things are back. Strange system but I look forward to learning more about it.

@shanesSpace Awesome guide ty so much for a step by step! Really helped me get this up and running. I’m still having one issues tho. When booting up Mario Kart 8 for either Wii or WiiU, it will only recognize 1 input for our controllers, so me and my wife can’t play together and are forced to take turns. Any ideas on fixing this?

Hey! Glad this helped - you'll want to press 'esc' then navigate to Cemus input settings, on pad 2 you can select xinput, and select your second controller, if you're still finding difficulties, I can upload a tutorial! You can also navigate to your emulators folder, find Cemu(wii u) open the application and edit/save the changes in there if you're not in game!

In the main folder I believe there is a batch file or app version that resets the appearance of the theme, let me know if you can't find it and I'll take a look

@@ShanesSpace Cheers i found restore defaults (large poster) and it restored it but the names of the consoles are missing, like when i press down to go to lets san n64, the n64 name doesent show up? any idea, thank for quick reply and help

There may be another restore defaults file (other than large posters) that you can use that should rectify this issue The batch files are fairly interchangeable so you may just have to play around and see which one helps

hey man great video. I do have a quick question though. I thought BitTorrent was done when it said checking but it wasn't so me being the dumb person i am i deleted the bit wars folder above all the WinRAR files. Is this needed? if it is how can i get it back without downloading this over again. Thank you

Hey! So, if bitorrent was 'checking' the file, it means it didn't finishing downloading. If you have downloaded it all, you should see like 330 winrar folders - these can be extracted. If you partially extracted them, you can delete the folder created from them and restart the extraction. If you deleted something by mistake, you can check your recycle bin on your desktop and attempt a recovery. If you deleted the torrent by mistake, you can try reinitialising it and hope that it notices you already have downloaded some files. Failing these, I'm afraid your best course of action may be to start from fresh and download them again Hope this helps!

If you are 'checking' in bitorrent by the way, let it complete checking, then it will continue to download afterwards. When the torrent says 'seeding' you may stop it

You'll want bittorrent classic if you want the app on your machine, but the Web client is also okay :)

Minimum 500gb I would recommend a 1tb. The base download is 300gb+, then you'll want some wiggle room to add more games.

Hello, I was trying to download the torrent file for CoinOps legends 2 Bitwars but I encountered a problem, whenever I click the link to access the website that holds the torrent file, I can't go to the website and download it, instead I have to download the normal files which would take me very long, so I am asking if you could send me the torrent file instead, cause I can't reach the website to download the torrent myself, If you could reply, please reply as soon as you can, thank you ❤

Provided you extracted every file together you should be good. Make sure you don't delete the folder created from the extraction

You can just copy the coinops folder, the extracted one - don't even need to copy the rar files :) I run my version on an external hdd between 2 pcs

You'll want to change your aspect ratio, I believe you will want (original) setting - you can find it under screen resolution I'm pretty sure! Let me know if that helped.

Did you extract every zip folder together? Run the updates in the Fixes folder Let me know of that works

Turn off windows defender before unzipping, or it'll remove files you need to make it work. If that doesn't work, try the fixes folder.

Using a beelink 5800h. All the sudden the majority of games show up in the top left corner of a huge black screen. The screen image is about a foot wide on a 65" TV. Any idea how to fix this so it's actually full screen. Worked fine on my prior system. I am in Fullscreen mode

Hey! So yeah naturally some emulators will struggle to guess the resolution they should run at. This is usually a retroarch bug. If you open the retroarch menu (f1 or l3 and r3 on a controller when in a game, navigate to aspect ratio, or screen resolution (can't remember off the top of my head) Then you can change it to 'core provided' this should then centre it to your screen. If the resolution is too low, just try playing with the settings until you're happy. Note- once opening retroarch menu, you may have to press backspace or B/circle on a controller to access advanced options to tweak the aspect ratio. If you are still struggling, let me know and I'll make a short video explaining this further.

I have just installed this and it looks to be working well, however I cannot access the menu using either L3+R3 or F1, I am using PS3 Remote through SPC, I have checked the controls.conf file and can't see any reference to a menu in order to change the key bind - is there any pre-requisites required? I am not using retroarch which is mentioned below, Cheers

How you change controls is dependant on what emulator you are using, for example, Wii U, you'll want to either hit ESC, or windows key to minimise the game, then you can edit the input configuration there. Failing that, find the emulator you want to edit in the coinops folder, (wii u - cemu) then open the application and edit the controls. Once done once, it should stay set up for future games. Let me know if this helps. I will be putting together a tutorial for in depth configuration soon! P.s. you can only use F1/L3+R3 on emulators running retroarch, I.e. snes or gamecube etc

Hey! Yeah so unfortunately the L3+R3 shortcut (F1 on keyboard) is limited to emulators running retroarch. To edit emulators outside of Coinops, navigate to the emulators folders, select which system you would like to edit, find and open the application in said folder. Once you have opened the app, I.e. for Ps2 I believe it may be pcsx2 as the emulator (not at PC right now so unsure!) You can edit your emulation settings here I.e. graphic settings and input settings. Once done, you can launch coinops again and your settings should remain. Same for Cemu for WiiU. You can do it as I mentioned or failing that, after launching a wiiu title, you can minimise the app by pressing ESC or the Windows key and edit settings there. Hope this helps!

Hello. Perhaps coinops is getting confused with your monitor. Try pressing F1 or Tab, and adjust configurations for aspect ratio and resolution. If you are still struggling, let me know and I'll get round to checking it out :)

@@ShanesSpace I solved the problem. When I ran any Arcade Classics game, it was running on my second monitor (which was turned off) so I only heard the sounds but had no picture lol. I don't understand why it runs on my second monitor and not on the main monitor. But I disable it and voila! Thank you so much anyway for you quick response.

You should have no problems using any controllers. However Xbox one controllers tend to work best in general for PC gaming so that'd likely be your best bet

It depends on the emulator you're planning to use, any system that uses retroarch will have settings panels accessed by f1, arcade(mame) games are tab key. Cemu(wii u) Ps2 (pcxs2) etc, you may need to edit the controls in the emulator folders Hope this helps, this is on my list for tutorials to make, so please bare with for a video:)

I just use an xbox one s controller as its Bluetooth, best controller to use for Windows in my opinion, but maybe doing some extra research for your own needs. In terms of buttons not working, maybe you needed to update drivers/download a software from 8bitdo, that allows you to map buttons/mimic an xbox controller?

I have a few problems with my build for some reason. Wii has no sound, wiiu, and ps3 take FOREVER to boot up and I'm not sure what the problem is. I have a more than capable cpu and gpu so not sure what the issue it. 🤔

Hey! Personally I haven't had these problems but there are a few things you could try - first thing would be to make sure all your drivers are up to date. Secondly, there's a folder in the coinops folder called 'fixes if not working' make sure you have run through that. You could also open the emulators manually and play with the audio and graphical settings to tailor it to your system, making sure audio is enabled for the wii of course. For Wii u, Ps3 and other higher systems, it is possible you are creating caches for the first time for each game. Let the shaders compile, then next time you launch the game, it should be quicker. Do the games run fine once booted? Is your issue just initial launching? If all else fails, you can check the coinops forums on the arcadepunks website (link in the description) Apologies if this isn't helpful, it can be difficult to diagnose an issue without seeing it first hand!

@ShanesSpace thank you for the response 🙏 the audio started working for the wii now. I didn't even do anything lol. But as for the higher end systems it's just launching them. When I click on a game it takes me to a black screen and stays there forever. I've only once gotten to play wiiu and when launched, there are no issues just loading them.

Hey Daniel, yeah so all the games run on my i7 7700 , gtx 1060 I would suggest either reextracting the files and starting from scratch or tinker with the emulators settings yourself (cemu) for wii u. If you could link me footage of you issue, I could try resolve it. You can always try launching the roms from the emulator itself, once cached it should hopefully boot fine from coin ops. But please run through the settings mentioned before, install the fixes etc and try again.

What is the point of posting a useless video that skips steps and doesn't inform anyone exact how long processes take, or what the end result will be? This is yet another in a line of pointless videos regarding these Coinops builds with incorrect instructions that do not inform as much as show off something that will never work without a ton of trial and error.

Hey man, I'm sorry you feel this way about my video, I'll take your notes into consideration for the future. However, this exact process has been followed by multiple of friends and I have done it myself multiple times. I haven't skipped any steps. At what part have you struggled? Perhaps I can help you..
