There are times when I think, I wish they would have done a reunion episode. To see those characters tell stories of those days in front of their lived ones. Then I think, no, as a fan the show left it up to us to reminisc about those stories.
My favorite episode of the entire series was when Potter gave his tribute to his WWI buddies. I always felt there was more to his portrayal then just following a script.
I was 12 when the MASH Series Finale aired. My momz gave me permission to stay up way past my bedtime to watch it in its entirety and she let me skip school the following day to rest up. I took that following day off not because I was tired from staying up but because I cried quietly in my room for hours after the ending credits ended. Almost forty years later and I still haven’t found the emotional strength to watch it again. This was the greatest series finale of any show in the history of television. Thank you for posting this tribute. Stay Safe & Stay Strong, The City of Boston
At least you got the day off from school because of your mother let you have it. I was only 13 year old kid in the seventh grade when mash went off the air for good in 1983 and I have to go to school the next day even though I did watch the entire final episode in February of 1983.
What a wonderful and heartfelt comment. I was in my formative years as well. Believe it or not Hawkeye was my hero. I didn’t turn out to be a womanizer or anything like that. I married the first girl I kissed. We celebrated our 43 anniversary last year.
I've heard of M*A*S*H for many years but never actually sat down and watched it. About 4 months ago, I decided to watch it since it was on Hulu, and I finished it about a month and a half later. I cried at how beautiful this show was. It had good humor but, it also reminded us that it was war, and while not all the main cast could be together for the whole series, it was still well written. Many laughs were had, some tears were shed, and some tension was spread. R.I.P to Harry Morgan, William Christopher, Wayne Rogers, Larry Linville, McLean Stevenson, and others who have passed away from one of the most brilliant shows in television history.
My father was about to be sent, as an Army doctor, to Japan for the invasion that did not happen. Dad would never have survived the brutality: the Japanese did not mind shooting unarmed doctors. God spare every man, woman and child when China invades Taiwan. I am 73 and fervently wish to see an end to war now, before Asia boils in radioactivity. I speak for the traumatized children of all veterans. Our service never ends.
Every time I see this, the stubble hair on my beard - stands up. I get chills. Then some smiles. And tears. I want everyone commenting to know ....I feel so good to know that others feel this show was as important and special as I do. In a crazy divided world, I oddly feel camaraderie with all of you.
Dear Carl… Wow… Looks like a comment I would write 😉 This series is still my wife and I’s favorite show of all time. No other series that I can recall could have the same character have you laugh and cry, in the same episode. Its humanity is, more than ever, relevant in, like you so aptly put it, this « crazy divided world ». I expressed this sentiment in a letter I sent to Loretta Swit, Alan Alda and Mike Farrell. The latter actually wrote me back ! A warm, heartfelt letter showing clearly he had read my letter. Then again, what do you expect from BJ 😉 Here’s to the spirit of M*A*S*H… May it accompany all of us forever.
Thanks for taking time out and posting this..it lets us all reflect on those wonderful memories and honour the man that helped bring them to us.R.I.P. Harry thanks for keeping me, and so many of mine, enretained.
I feel like I'm in M*A*S*H; because of work and school, I feel like I'm using these crazy times as an excuse to act as weird and crazy like the 4077th personell.
I've lost a lot of friends since 2016 and I'm way too scared to talk to them because of hpw nuts they've been because of these crazy political times. Really miss the times we had when we were kids 20 years ago, and we could agree to disagree.
What an officer, and of course, a gentleman. We could all learn something from Colonel Potter. Hooah! Oh, and Harry Morgan did a great job sitting that trot!
A Generation Of Memory's Love, Laughter , Tears, but most of all Good Time with Friends, Mash will go down in history as a way to get thought the though time, an come out the other side Laughing in tears.
Hawkeye never gave Trapper or BJ a salute and they were best friends and I bet they never saw each after the war ended. I know its a tv show and a fantastic show to watch i love it. But it could happen not seeing each other.
MASH was anti-war, Korea was a substitute for the quagmire of Vietnam War, war ended in defeat with collapse and conquest of South Vietnam in 1975. Korean War is known as America's forgotten war, but unlike Vietnam and Afghanistan, should be viewed as a win, the UN Intervention prevented North Korea from conquering South Korea. In 2022, South Korea is a prosperous Democratic nation- Hyundai, Kia, LG and of course Samsung are prized around the world, K-Pop is world wide phenomenon, "Parasite" won the Academy Award for Best Picture and "Squid Game" is one of the most popular series on Netflix. North Korea on the other hand, has been ruled by the same Stalinist Psychopathic Family since the end of the Korean War, they have Nuclear Weapons and starving population.
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE FATHER MEANT...SOME HAVE DONE MORE TIME N THIS LIFETIME THAN OTHERS....AND HAWKEYE WHITE 🌹...HE SALUTED 3 PEOPLE.... MCWJW 1974/2021+- SEE YOU SOON MY FRIENDS...
When I first saw this I didnt pay attention to the dialogue and assumed that potter wS Rising off on his horse out after healing I now know he was giving the horse to an orphanage and avehicle would pick him UP there.
When he first gets the horse from Radar he says He can’t be more than 4 years old so he knew but named him Sophie anyway! Maybe from his old cavalry days?
