It was really a perfect day on the trail - beautiful forest with a lush green understory at lower elevations, gushing creeks and waterfalls, tremendous views up the Icicle valley, a granite landscape reminiscent of the Sierra Nevada about 2/3rds of the way up, a lake basin surrounded by (still) snowy peaks, and a beautiful aquamarine lake with ice and snow remnants for great contrast.
