Agree fully. She seems to be good at balancing her videos and being a mom to them. It’s not easy for sure. I love these videos but anytime she takes longer to upload I’m ok 😂 cuz I know she’s spending time with her family and/or taking a break for herself. Look how she has raised her first daughter. Definition of success to me. I look up to her.

I was in third grade when my friend Andrew went missing with his brothers. He was one of the few kids who was nice to me, and always was making everyone laugh with doing funny voices and cracking jokes. It was so heartbreaking to go through at such a young age. I didn't think anything of it- saying goodbye before thanksgiving break

@marshall2238 I'm so sorry, no child should ever know that pain of losing a friend. I was in 1st grade when my best friend went in for a tooth pulling at the dentist. I still remember coming home and telling my mom I was gonna see if she could play. My mom had to sit me down and explain to me in a way I'd understand that she had a tooth pulled and had a allergic reaction to the medication and passed. I still to this day think about what kind of person she would have been as a adult. Again I'm sorry you had to go through that. Prayers from Va Beach Virginia

Him telling the pastor he sent the boys home, not to their mothers house or his parents, and as a pastor she should know what he means tells me 100% that he took their lives. I wanted to believe they were still out there somewhere but if he gave them to people why wouldn’t those people call police when they see the news? Makes no sense at all.. if they were alive we would know it by now. He confessed to his preacher 100%. He also did it in a way where it couldn’t be used against him or prove anything. Rip you sweet baby’s, I’m sorry this happened and your lives were cut so short by your own father, I can’t even imagine! :( Prayers they are at least found so they can be laid to rest as they deserve to be!
@loko7914
@loko7914 4 года назад
I thought the same exact thing after hearing what he told the pastor. And at first I also thought if he gave the kids to someone, why haven’t they called the police -it would be impossible for this person not to hear/see something about the missing boys, or have a family member, friend, boss or co-worker, employee at a place this person often frequents, etc., the list is endless. However, then he said that he gave them to an Amish community, and that’s literally the only thing where that could and would all make sense. The Amish have their own communities, towns essentially, where the very vast majority rely solely on themselves. They run their own society which includes a judicial system, schooling, jobs like wood making, butchers, clothing, wig making, etc. they don’t have nor use electricity. They wouldn’t have a tv, radio, phone, etc., where they could learn the truth of the 3 boys. The accept anyone into their society that would like to join -especially children in dire situations. Either John used the Amish situation because he knew it’s literally the only option where things could make sense in what he’s said and he believes that excuse will work, or there may really be something to it.

I was married to a John. It's terrible and it's all about control. In his mind, he has won. Tanya will never be truly happy, he'll never be gone from her mind or soul and the boys were collateral damage. He won't even let her lay them to rest, even the location of those poor babies is his secret to keep and control. And his parents are part of the reason he is how he is. Most narcissist people are helped down that path by enabling, obviously controlling (the moving deadline?) parents. It's heart breaking.
@wordsleuth992
@wordsleuth992 4 года назад
I agree. Behind every narcissist is people that are close to them who have played a part in shaping them into who they are or at the very least allowed their warped thinking to go on unchecked. They allowed them to believe they could never be wrong, that they didn’t have to take responsibility for themselves for their mistakes, coddled them, never criticized, made them feel entitled, allowed their delusional thinking and grandiose fantasies... I wonder how the parents feel now knowing their “deadline” pushed him over the edge and into acting in haste. It’s clear he was going to go on this path either way if he couldn’t have those boys- it clearly was pre-meditated. Very sad. Yet another reason narcissists should never be parents. Tanya’s fatal error - saying “no” to a narcissist. You don’t ever leave them, they leave you - either dead or absolutely devastated.

Yeah my daughters father is a John. He knew I had a warrant because I missed court on a BS misdemeanor possession charge so basically I couldn’t call the cops on him.. so he did whatever he wanted, I was the only one who worked , etc I would wake up and my tips from the night before (say $200) would be gone and he would leave me with $10-$20 because I don’t “need” more. He would have random people moving in (always female) saying that they would pay rent, never did, in fact one girl stole my car key and went MIA so I would have to find her or pay $500+ to rekey my car .. he barely lifted a finger. He took $7000 and bought himself a new car without asking and then promptly lost it within 6 months. I couldn’t get in his phone but if I didn’t give him my password he’d hit me. He could go out and do whatever he wanted without answering my calls or telling me but I wasn’t allowed anywhere other than work or my parents. He had 5 other kids with 5 other women and I was the sixth. I got myself into treatment and moved back with my parents to get away from him after I lost my apartment. He was living in a house with no running water, was 35 and never had a real job, didn’t help with his other kids , etc. I had a tough pregnancy and was in the hospital more often than not and he did nothing. Then showed up at my parents 7 months after I had her flipping out because I gave her up for adoption. He said I had “no right “ and it was “illegal “ I had to “raise her, unless he gave permission otherwise “ etc. like not even that HE wanted her (he had no custody and barely saw 2 of his other 5 kids even once a month ) but that he wanted ME to raise her alone because he said so. It’s a sickness these people have.. they don’t care about the person only the control.

She probably felt she didn’t have any choice. Courts sometimes go way overboard in trying to make sure both parents are given equal rights to see kids, even in the presence of evidence that it might not be in the kids best interests. I literally was in the same position as her- after my ex abducted my 3 children - and the courts did not reprimand him but instead gave him unsupervised visitation. The court system does not protect children and tends to hold the view “they are with their father, what could possibly go wrong??...” It was very frustrating. The kids suffered for years because of his narcissistic personality. It just never ends and is all about possession and control.

@@alicjakrag313 any male can make a child, but being a parent is something different. It's the responsibility of the parents to keep those children safe, emotionally and physically. When he kidnapped them, he proved that he was not interested in their safety. And now where are they? We don't know because their "father" was allowed to be alone with them after he proved he wasn't concerned about the boys safety. The comment you made makes me think that you're not a parent because I can't imagine anything more terrifying than someone taking my children away from me, not telling me where they are or letting me meet who they're being left with. And being forced by courts or anyone to put your children in an unsafe environment is wrong. It doesn't matter if it's their father or not. The ONLY thing that matters is the child. In this case, those children were failed, and now they're probably dead. At the hands of their father. 2 people made those children, but only 1 was concerned for their safety.

In this specific incident, Stephanie said that the mother and her lawyer decided that it would look better to the courts if she agreed to visitation. When my daughter was a baby, I took as many Early Childhood Education and Child Development classes at an excellent local Community College, as my single-mom subsidy allowed for. I had zero professional interest in the field (jokes on me now, as I’m gearing up to homeschool Kiddo, bc online only, is not an appropriate option for her personally), but I knew I wanted to do things differently than my parents had done. And I knew I had no idea how to go about doing that. I sat in the front row; I took notes; I asked questions; I tried to find patterns that could help me understand some of the less intuitive aspects of excellence (or even, okay-ness) in this field. For many of us, it takes a phenomenal amount of work, consistently applied over long periods of time, to break a cycle of abuse, with any kind of abuse you’ve had modeled for you exclusively, as a kid. I knew I didn’t want to yell at, shame, criticize, or scare my child, but I literally had no idea what a parenting style that didn’t revolve around these things would even look like. I was profoundly motivated to learn, bc I felt like that was the sacred promise I had made to my kiddo, when I decided to become a single mom and to grow, birth, and raise her. It still took a tremendous amount of work, and even now remains an ongoing set of maintenance action steps. It also took a lot of resources. Resources I wouldn’t have been able to access, without support, guidance, and other help. I’m not saying anything is an acceptable excuse for doing horrible things to one’s kids, AT ALL. I am saying that I believe parents need a lot more support, including practical actionable direct and specific action steps. Maybe not every parent, but probably most of us could or could have benefitted from a chance to build our knowledge and confidence, and to see what radical transformative change can look like, in real life. Anyway.

I also grew up in an abusive home and have some issues because of it(tho I would never in my life abuse a child) and I also have some health issues(possibly brought on by the trauma and living in fear my entire life as a child/teen) which cause me an extreme amount of fatigue.. I just do not have the energy to put in this much effort. It’s not that I don’t want a child, I just don’t think it’d be fair to bring them into the world when I am still trying to work on myself. And that decision is being taken away from me soon anyways because I have really large fibroids and will be having a hysterectomy soon. Sometimes you also have to put aside the selfish wants and do what’s best to not bring a child into the world and I wish more people would do that especially people living in abusive relationships because I am a product of that and it had a profound negative effect on me, I’m 38 and still living with the effects of my childhood.

Samum 5 I think knowing that means you’re already way better off! My mother cared more about her wants tho I do think it’s important as parents to practice self care and make your needs a priority as well but my mother would leave me home alone to go get black out drunk.. not that I don’t want to exist lol but I don’t think my mom should have been a mother. I’m one of the lucky ones too because I did not turn to drugs or alcohol, I have a good marriage and a good life.. so many kids like me end up in way worse situations and bringing more children into the world and continue the cycle.

yeah or allegedly give them to a ''secret" organization that uses codenames and asks you to use burn phones and burn all traces of them. Yeah that sounds like a legit thing...I understand that there are organizations and such that protect abused from their abusers and they may change the names of the victims and such on tv or in newspapers. But the organization itself WOULD be registered somewhere. If his story is true-which I don't believe- then this organization sounds more like sex trafficking gang. People like that often pose as some sort of 'organization' or charity. Heck lesser scammers tend to do that. Tell people they're collecting money for a good cause or whatnot and then take the money and vanish into thin air.

I lived in Williams county when this happened, and I cannot overstate how much of an impact this had on our community. So many cars had notebook paper sized magnets on them with the boys' pictures and information for contacting the authorities, everyone had theories on what happened. When they called off the search, people were devastated. I obviously can't say what happened for sure, but the most popular theory among the locals was that the boys' father ended their lives and dumped their bodies into a pig pen somewhere around West Unity, Pioneer, or Holiday City. When they call this area rural, they aren't kidding. There's tons of villages and small groupings of houses too small to support more than a post office and maybe a gas station or bar. There's also so so so much country and so many farms in the area. It is beyond sad what happened and I genuinely hope their father gets what's coming to him.

There's a book that's been written and a documentary called Without Wax, that's a reference to what a sculpturer does or not do when they make a mistake, they fill in the mistake with wax. John also used this reference and that's why the doc and book was named that. He's book learned, wether he's gone to college or not he's intelligent.

I’m a little put off of how tolerant and calm Stephanie’s language was towards the mom literally rapping and grooming a 14 year old boy was. In cases of it being a grown man doing that to a girl, or even in the case of Shanda Sharer and Amanda, Stephanie is always extremely passionately outspoken in disagreement of their actions (rightfully so) and it was so unsettling to se that energy shift tbh.

thank you!! I love Stephanie and I know she said she "has a hard time with" people referring to the relationship as consensual, but let's call it what it is if that's the case. She raped that boy. I don't like the language of "she has sex with a ." Doesn't sit right with me.

That's not what this case is about. Her husband knew perfectly well what she'd done, he was okay with it for many years and had three children with her. She's not perfect, she committed a terrible crime, but she's not the one who stole and most likely murdered the three children.
@Emma.H06
@Emma.H06 4 года назад
Elena Proskuriakova that still doesn’t change the fact that she wasn’t referred to as exactly what she is: a rapist. She didn’t just “commit a crime”, she raped a child. If you have seen the way Stephanie has handled and spoken about rapists in the past, the way she spoke about this rapist was way more forgiving and minimizing in tone. It’s just really off-putting to me.

I wonder if when John was in the hospital, in the beginning before taken to jail, if anyone noticed scratches on his arms or face? Could've been defensive wounds from the boys. I think one of them hurt his foot while he was killing them or injured his foot while disposing of their bodies. He does give out truths here and there. If one takes out pieces of his stories, a true puzzle becomes complete.

You should do the Debora Green case and the Shanna Golyar case. Those two are CRAZY and I haven't seen them covered on other channels. Green was a doctor who tried to kill her hubby and eventually killed two of her three kids in a house fire. She told her son to wait in the house when it was on fire. Golyar case is about this woman who was fixated on this man (whom she'd dated for less than two months.) She killed his new girlfriend (of two weeks) then impersonated her online for over two years, sending threats to the guy she liked and herself -- all in a bid to get him to feel sorry for her and stay with her. Just insane.

Imagine growing up and living with two raging narcissists one of whom is a pathological liar who you know lies all the time about everything, but you Can't challenge her because Cindy will lose her shit on you for having the audacity to blemish her perfect family crap. And Cindy has no one to blame but herself. She played a significant part in turning Casey into a narc and manipulator and she only realized how much she screwed her up once she figured out that her granddaughter was dead and her daughter lied to her about it for weeks with zero guilt. Of course she forgives Casey, she knows that her shitty parenting is largely to blame and she just can't admit it outright. George was her first victim, then Casey and Caylee would have been next. And poor Lee, every time I read something or watch something about this case I tend to forget he's a part of this family at all.

I just subscribed to your channel after becoming impressed by several of your videos and seeing how you reverently discuss the abbreviated stories of the victims. The Skelton children, like all crime victims, had their own stories, their lived lives. The narrative of their parents overshadow THEIR existence, and that always hurts my heart. Years ago I was pursuing a career in forensic anthropology, and my professor had been a student of the legendary Dr. Bass (of Body Farm fame). She shared her experiences with our class, but her stories always included more details about victims than offenders. We learned strategies for coping with devastating facts and the emotions those details would generate within us. I am almost a senior citizen now, and I STILL want to be her when I grow up! The way you present the cases you cover reminds me of her lectures and discussions. Thank you for producing such great content.

@lilyw.719
@lilyw.719 4 года назад
@@megmcguireme That's true, in that I'm sure it's not more traumatic than violent rape. But then I've heard that a lot of people who were raped or molested as kids but who didn't see it that way at the time have a hard time coming to grips with it when they come to understand what happened later. It's sort of delaying the trauma. Plus, you got to figure that that kid got mixed up with things he shouldn't have way too early, so he probably ended up getting into other destructive or risky behaviors as a teen. I wouldn't be shocked at all if he got into drugs.

John Skelton keeps saying that the boys are safe and fine, it harkens back to three whole months ago when Lori Vallow Daybell kept insisting that her children JJ and Taylee were "fine" even though they were dead and buried in Chad Daybell's backyard. I think this is what religious people say when someone is dead, they say that the person or people are "in a better place" so the murderer(s) might be able to clear their conscience, they can feel like they did a good thing sending them to heaven, because being with god is safe, right?
