The first singer is Ian Moss, the guitarist from Cold Chisel and a music legend in his own right. This song is one of the band's best - and one of the best rock ballads of all time. You should check out the original recorded version to appreciate the full emotion of the song.

John has the voice of an Angel. Jimmys voice erupts out of the bowels of hell. Neither can touch each other its like comparing apples and oranges. Ian Moss is the first one to sing and was singing on a lot of Chisel songs my favourite of which is Bow River. Also had a solo career and is probably most well known for his song Tuckers Daughter

I grew up listening to these guys. Watched them more than once in venues with less than 500 people. Aussies grew up with this like we grew up with vegemite. It blows my mind that the rest of the world are only just catching on.

This song is very special here in Australia. Written by Steve Prestwich, it illiterates the story of soldiers (Anzacs) returning home from war. This is by far my favourite cold chisel song.

Hey my request here. I know you did this song with Jimmy & Farnham, but I reckon it was a trash effort from Jimmy in that song. To me, this is how the song is supposed to be performed, as incredible as Farnham is, Ian Mosses vocals on this song are absolute perfection. There's a vulnerability to them that just didn't carry over. Then Jimmy comes and kicks the walls down. There's a girl in the audience there (the one that screams at the end), you can see how moved she is by it. She wouldn't even have been born when the song came out. Cold Chisel is part of the Australian fabric. Those 11 minutes waiting for the 4 minute mark of the song had me giggling.

Greatest music from growing up in Oz , we were spoilt , no one else around the world in the 80’s even knew they existed.

It's Ian Moss, there's two singers in it. Ian Moss is also a very good singer. His song Tuckers daughter is good but he hasn't had anywhere near the success Jimmy has had. lmfao I feel like I am responding too much but this is the last one, I am going to address 7:24 .. I could send you 100 tracks where he belts over E5 in chest, the Tina video as I said has a pretty much 90% pure chest f5, which is the note Tina gives a thumbs up to, but I could send you way too many videos. The difference is that Jimmy's voice is heavy, and generally speaking heavy, dramatic voices need to thin a lot more in the chest to hit the notes. The f5 in the Tina video though, is pretty much all in chest. Obviously, you'd pick Johny to cover the high notes in a tenor/tenor duet but he has a light, more agile voice, and he thins a lot faster. Also the thing is with Jimmy's rasp.I have mentioned this before hand, he has cleaner notes in his youth before he started doing drugs; it then developed into the rasp you heard on the Tina video,and then it developed to the harsh drill like sound; and not to say he 'a rock star' doesn't scream on occasions like every other rock star, but he belted a G5 in the bside of 'Boys cry out for war' that is crystal clear, even by John Farnham standards; so the haters can't tarnish his vocal ability because he had Crystal clear belts in his prime from 1978 - 1984 era.

It’s been really nice seeing your reactions to Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham, two singers I grew up listening too. The first singer, playing the acoustic guitar is Ian Moss. A really great singer in his own right and he did some of the lead vocals for Cold Chisel, though Jimmy did most of them. A really good song to listen too would be Bow River by Cold Chisel. Ian Moss does all the lead vocals on that one. Khe Sahn and Flame Trees are two others which Jimmy was lead singer for.

Love watching your reactions. Since you're well & truly gone down the Aussie rabbit hole, you should check out Jimmy Barnes singing "Good Times" with INXS (Official video). There are so many awesome Aussie bands/singers from the 80's/90's that you have yet to discover, such as Midnight Oil, Noiseworks (Hot Chilli Woman), Australian Crawl, Ice House... I could go on. However, there is another unique Aussie voice that is completely different to Jimmy & John. Check out Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. Nick is not a belter or a gritter, but the timber and depth in his voice is sublime. His song "Into my Arms" (official video) is the one to watch.

I won a radio competition and not only got two free tickets to an Ian Moss concert, but also got to sit in for his rehearsal before the concert, just my sister and I there! Later we got to meet him and took a selfie together. Lovely man, so friendly and gracious. Wonderful memory.

Great to see people discovering Cold Chisel and other great Australian bands. I've been listening to Chisel for over 40 years, and I would list my favourite songs as Taipan and Twentieth Century from the Last Stand concert. Moss's epic guitar solos on Taipan, Forever Now and others are just legendary. I would definately recommend listening to the earlier versions of these songs, as these are recent, and both of their voices, although still great, and not as strong or as amazing as the 70's/80's versions. Jimmy's voice sounds very strained on this version. Big shout out to Dave Blight, he and I were both pageant artists, and he is a phenomenal sculptor/artist as well as amazing harmonica player.

I saw these guys so many times and even had beers with Jimmy and his band in the 80s at kangaroo valley.All great down to earth guys.went to a huge party on a property next to his on my Gibraltar NSW..Was so blessed back then to see most great Aussie bands in the local club along with iron maiden,motorhead,canned heat,The Mick Fleetwood band,and so many others with the club capacity was only 1500 people.Those were the days but now nothing except poker machines where nobody even talks to each other.sad.sad world.

At 7:50 this is the argument that my husband and I have all the time. My husband says farnsey is the best Aussie singer, I say Barnsey. But realistically (I think) Farnsey has more of a white collar appeal, Barnsey is a blue collar, grit, Aussie appeal. Both legends.
