Little trick from a structural point of view : never modify the length of the beams with the blue arrows, but with the blue circles. These arrows do not modify the structural length of the element (analytical lines = lines of forces), but used for connection adjustments.

This helped me so much with how to make structure/construction plans in revit for my final project. Thank you!!

I built a parametric nested header, trimmer, king family for my struc firm. We really primarily use it for typ conditions but it makes the placement and alignment of all of those components really fast. I like your idea of beam systems here as well. I did not add cripplers to my family, although they could be added.

Cool idea to build it all into one family! Cheers!

Great Video RK. How are you using framing in your work flow? Who needs to view this framing or how is it beneficial to take the time to do?

Just a tip regarding the opening. It won't solve the other issues but if you already have the openings you can Edit Boundry for the Beam System so that you cut the openings and you lock so when you move the window the cut moves with ut cutting the joists as well. This will break if you change the size of the opening.

Good point! Not sure why I didn't mention that! :)

Good hint, thank you ! Just wondered I might actually define raw 'filling' wall-ie therminsulation w/ membranes etc and stick framing onto its either surface afterwards. A bit awkward but since no better way? Ps. Your manager's /Jacob/ master touch is obvious here ;)

Can you please do a paid tutorial on that house with all the vertical and horizontal beam system? Maybe on patreon? I know one other person doing tutorial be good to know how you did all that! Thanks!

Hello, thanks for this , is very helpfull! For the beam system approach, can you set an offset from the wall plane? How can you add the studs in a compound wall with insulation and panels on both sides for example and keep the framing in a particular offset inside the wall?
@TheRevitKid
@TheRevitKid Год назад
You can 100% offset from the plane with beam systems. For what you are talking about you can have them hosted even on the same plane and offset differently. There is an offset setting for all beam systems right in the properties, For a double wall like that, though... It might be cool to make a double stud beam type and do ONE system.... hm.... interesting.

@@TheRevitKid Thanks, you convinced me that I dont need to buy a USD 3k + plugin yet to do some basic metal or wood framing estimation.

@@Constantinesis haha, some of those plugins are great! But, it all depends on how often you do this stuff and how efficiently you need to do it… 😜

How you would do shop (production) drawings for finished frames? Not using AGAcad orsm.
@TheRevitKid
@TheRevitKid 5 месяцев назад
Honestly, if you are doing shop drawings and fabrication level modeling I would look at MWF or AGACAD... It is worth it if that is the type of work you do.

Hello. Is it possible to create a curtain wall instead? if it can be, how can we make the millions in the curtain wall structural?
@TheRevitKid
@TheRevitKid 11 месяцев назад
If you use the curtain wall method... you will be using mullions to represent the structure. they cannot be "structural" elements in the sense of Category or having analytical models. If you NEED structural category or analytical models, use the beam system method.

Hi, when I copy a joists from a framing system, it looses the association with the system and I can`t put it back. It didn`t always happen but I dont know whats causing it sometimes or for some specific joists.
@TheRevitKid
@TheRevitKid Год назад
If you copy it … the copied instance will not be part of the system. That is correct
@Constantinesis
@Constantinesis Год назад
@@TheRevitKid But this behaviour is not consistent, ocasionally it did keep the association. Very strange.
@TheRevitKid
@TheRevitKid Год назад
