Dad always preferred horses to feed hay because they started at 40 below. My experience was they were pissed off at me for making them go out in the cold. When heading back to the house as soon as they saw the barn I couldn’t stop em with the Queen Mary’s anchor.
That looked cold strapping down that hay. 11,700 bales of hay. 30 bales a truckload, 390 truckloads to the mushroom barn. That's a lot of hauling. Happy New Year.
You were heard, but a heater with a separate exhaust is still what I prefer and recommend. Can run it all day in my shop, and only thing in my shop is hot air as the exhaust is lead out through a metal pipe to the wall. The pipe also gets hot and is great for drying work gloves.

Maybe one day i'll get to me you. We all want to thank you for taking us along with you on that GoPo ,, You are a great person thats not only smart but funny as hell... Sorry for your lose. 91 that's a good life. . Wes I really enjoy your videos. Thank you. I know you don't have time to respond, so just keep it coming!
When i drove semi a couple years I was taught to roll the straps up like you do(everyone else i see wrap the strap up with the ratchet) I would throw it over the opposite way though so hook doesnt hit anything, i would hook it first then baseball pitch the roll over to the otherside. Just an observation
Was wondering if something was wrong beings you didn’t upload early this morning. Anyways, thanks for the daily content, you bring light to the daily trials and tribulations of agricultural life. There has been many hard, stressful days where my problems have been somewhat alleviated with your videos(sorry if that sounds weird). Keep up the always amazing work, best of luck to you in 2018.
Sorry for your loss Wesley , my mother passed on at Christmas last year and it kind of puts a downer on things . Take good care of yourself in the Cold weather . Wise move to let the bale trailer Go. So Tim wants to rebuild an old vehicle eh !! I wonder wear he got that idea from . Chip of the old Block. !!DW
Some of us love our old jeeps. I have a old Cherokee I am very fond of but in all honesty it should have been put on the scrap pile a long time ago also. I just keep fixing mine also. Hard to part with a vehicle or tractor that has served you so well. Raptor would be sweet though. Tim better work long and hard alright if he wants a raptor lol!
Hey Wes love the videos watch them all don't miss any. I do have a question why do you use the 2 in straps instead of the 4 in straps with sliding winches
I lost one of them Horst trailers last year with 22 round bales on it I picked up the last bale to load when I turned around the trailer was gone lol was sure somthing to see going got to the end of the field hit a bank and jumped a ditch just the the general lee
"There is always a tractor that starts"........Wes, with around 16.5 John Deere tractors, If NONE of them start you got issues......lol Thanks, Keep em coming. Btw, heated battery blankets worked well in Alberta on winter equipment. They made batteries last longer in addition to helping the battery get a machine started.
Can you show us the cedar trees the trailer hit? Just curious to see the damage your trailer did because it seems like those trailers and built strong.
My uncle was working on a grain truck once and the brakes let go for whatever reason and it pinned him between the front of the grain truck and the side of his pickup truck. He was there for 3 hours before somebody found him. Things happen in the blink of an eye.
I think you should invest in some trailer breaks for your hay wagons, it just sounds a lot safer and if they default to locked when unplugged then I think you could have saved yourself some trouble, I still think Tim should use whatever vehicle he wants, too many people always have to have a nice pretty new truck that isn't really necessary
Ummm OLF, did I detect Tim sounding like Dad when you said get rid of his Jeep and Tim’s reply “it can get rebuilt”. You’ve taught him well. Happy New Year to you and yours.
That sucks about the guy getting run over :( youch! Cold weather and diesel don't mix! My jd diesel won't start unless it's plugged in. Glow plugs are ok for temps 25 to 40 degrees but block heaters are pretty handy for artic weather ; )
yakyakyak69 everyone here sells it winterized. I didn't know they added kerosene to it. .. is it bad to run it year round? Our delivery company only offers the winterized stuff :(
WTFarm Girl kero has less calories then diesel so long term you will burn more to get the same amount of work done, I'm not sure of its lubricity so might cause problems in common rail high pressure fuel systems in hot weather, also not sure how tier 4 emisions systems deal with it but most winterised diesel has kero in it so that must have been tested during development.Cheers mate 🍻
7530 was failing weak battery and of course the cold, in case of emergency you use that JD heather happy newyear Wes and Teresa and family, sorry for your loss of aunt Margaret
Goals for 2018, let's see what we can do to get Wes's Subscriber's over the 100.000 mark! Looks like that should be possible this Year. Great vids and down to earth commentary. What do we all think, can we do it!
Hey Wes, I'm looking at newer trucks and the 5.0 Ford peeks my interest. Could you inform me on how you like it? I'm coming from a Chevy and looking to jump ship! Thank you!
I'm sorry for your families loss. I have a ? about your load securment. Have you ever considered an X strap configuration on the front of the load to add extra piece of mind to prevent the load shifting forward under a hard breaking situation? While I hauled shingles for Owen Corning most guys would cross strap the front pallets of shingles to keep the load out of the cab.
My 97 7.3ps is been firing up with minor grief in our minus 9 days here in mi. Im so glad my gm 6.5td would say f you at 15 above if not plugged in. My 7.3 i got to fix the oil cooler? something over there is leaking Tims jeep is a little bit new lol Sorry about your aunt
Does the 'glow plug' light need to go out before you attempt the first start. Not even a good comparison but my Dad's little VW Diesel Rabbit had glow plugs and you had to let the light go out as I mentioned. Don't get after me because it was just a thought. :) :)
Wes and family sorry to hear about the loss of your aunt. Yep lifes a numbers game, a tragedy is 300 killed in a plane crash. The part many don't get is the victims numbers all came out the hat the same time and day !!!!!!!!.
I'm guessing that everyone who has farmed has a runaway wagon or wagon and tractor experience. It's a dangerous business we're in. In no other business that I know of are we exposed to the number of potential hazards regularly.
pete.lamonica - I kind of figured that but he has owned both of those tractors for a year... I thought it was funny that the sold sticker was still on the tractor.
I was listening to OLF bitching about the trolls and the heater and thought what heats better, longer, more efficient coal or wood? I haven't seen people use coal for years here in Virginia just wondering
Sorry to hear about your aunt. I am sure you pay your family that works for you very well but maybe give Tim some incentive to junk the jeep and step into something newer. I learned long ago not to tell somebody their vehicle was going to kill them. When I was about Tim's age a friend came over to the farm to show me his "new" car, I told him he needed to get rid if that pile before he killed himself. Before I knew it he had done just that in a horrible car accident.
