The first time I listened to this song was September 17, 2018. It was a bad time for me. I remember sitting on a makeshift roof, having climbed it with so much difficulty, at 4 in the morning. I listened to this song on loop till the sun came out. That was the first time I ever wrote and here's the poem I wrote that day: Cold Little Heart You win. Amidst the tyranny of my agony, I realize... My heart succumbs finally, To my guilt, or to your absence? Burdened by something, Is it your virtue or my sins? Can see myself fading, Is it the growing dark or the shimmering light? I feel myself sinking, Is it a dream, or just the starry night? Want to ask you once, Should l stand again or give up the fight? Bewildered,I run searching around, Am I blind or is there no one in sight? Rush to me, strap me in your trap too tight, This cold little heart may bleed yet again, Another day, Another plight. This song will haunt me forever and I'll happily let it.
Sorry, me again. He's from London, born to Ugandan parents. He started as a session musician, so he's got the skills. First album solo 2012, but 2016's Love & Hate was his first success. Songs in TV shows, performances on TV, awards, etc. 2019's Kiwanuka is gorgeous. He really battled some self-doubt and self-hate to make something wonderful. Sweet guy, super talented. Check out some interviews where he talks more about his life.
There's a live studio version of this song on RU-vid. Unfortunately it's not there on Spotify. That version is somehow even better than the official record. Camera work on that video is fantastic.
A fellow countryman, Michael K....we should be more proud of him than we are, indeed. Hey, if you get a chance, please do watch his "Live at Hackney". Think you will enjoy that quite a bit. Cheers, to you, and yours! ♡
Super awesome to see that the two of you have discovered Michael Kiwanuka. I discovered him a couple years back and have never looked back. He is a true musical genius, with STRONG resemblance to the greats from the 60's and the 70's. He s doing EVERYTHING himself. Love from Norway ♥♥♥
You should check out the live Session Version of this song: (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FngDSOuCNAA.html). Real musicians at work, more guitar, other arrangement. A little like the Video of Manchester Orchestra - The Silence which you reacted to. And of course a recommendation for Mike and his preference for sustained chords: Lana del Rey - Cinnamon Girl. You will love it
I think you'll like Michael's song "Love & Hate". It may be my favorite Kiwanuka song. Great reaction on 'Cold Little Heart", perhaps his best known song.
Fantastic choice, Michael is such an amazing artist , this song was used as the theme for Big Little Lies on HBO. Now you have to react to Love and Hate, its my favourite of his songs. I would also suggest Charles Bradley’s soulful cover of Black Sabbath’s Changes…beautiful stripped down emotional blues performance taped at the Toronto Star offices.
Love the vibes I’m getting from the two of you. I also love the artist and this song. Wins around the board. Thanks for the video. Subscribed immediately. ❤️
I know this is stereotyping but was expecting him to change into rapping when he first started. Having said that I thought this a very good song and a pleasant surprise. Really liked his voice. Mike I find myself agreeing to you quite often, only thing I don’t understand is the saying batting 1000? Maybe something to do with baseball?? ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺
Hi Steven. It is indeed a baseball metaphor. Batting average is usually expressed out of 1, so hitting one time out of three is .333. We always say it "333" instead of "point 333". So a perfect batting average is 1.000 but we call it batting a thousand. It just means 100% successful. Sorry for the long winded explanation, but now you know! - M
@@MikeandGinger Thanks for info Mike. Figured it was baseball, had never heard that term before as baseball here not so popular as we have cricket which is the predominant summer sport, along with Football (soccer). Winter being either Rugby League, Aussie Rules or Rugby Union. ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺
