My 2001 would start but not idle correctly and die after about 10 -15 seconds regardless of engine temp. I had to start it with the pedal to the floor and keep the idle at about 2K to keep it running. I cleaned the IACV as shown in the video and now it works fine. Thanks for the tip!
my thottle body did look super clean too, but the cylinder of the idle valve was gunk with carbon, not that much but with the little clearance it has, it was enough to jam the cylinder to move around his axis, had to take everything apart, it's better now.
Yep. - did that on my 99 camry - It had been dying on idle. Cleaned it out after 200K km with kerosene after taking it off. Replaced it an it ran perfectly.
To reset idle control turn key to on, push brake while also pushing accelerator to floor hold for 5 secs. Then let up on both pedals and wait 10 secs then start engine should return to normal idle.
if a 3rd hose is at the bottom of the IAC valve.... the cleaner and carbon will go into the enfgine crankcase.... Filling the IAC with cleaner without removing it MAY be a bad idea
Well.... I guess if you are worried about that, you could completely remove it, clean it off the car and let it dry before reinstalling. But, my opinion is the potential engine contamination it is insignificant.

hi sir nice to see u video....i have camry 2007 2.4 ......i have same cold start problem.......I already cleaned injectors ...throtal body ....new spark plug and also changed new fuel filter .......but still when its cold it will take minimum 3 to 4 self then start .......after start going well no idle problem no jurking .......when its hot then start easily but when its cold then take time to start ...do u have any idea to solve this isuue ....i will be very tnakful to u .
In my opinion, it is not the throttle body itself that causes the cold start problem, its the part connected to the two wholes in the throttle body on either side of the butterfly valve. Those holes lead to the Idle-Air Control Valve (IACV). It acts like a choke, and is computer operated. But, the IACV gets gummed-up with carbon and then does not work properly. That is why I was squirting solvent down in those holes. But, it may take a few treatments if it is plugged, or has an excessive build-up. You might even have to remove the IACV and examine it. Hey Jeff, my 2000 solara starts and I have to press the gas for it to stay at around 700-1000rpm, once it’s warmed up, it kind of runs ok. Accelerates very slow, and doesn’t take off when you hit the gas all the way to the floor, any ideas??
My 2002 Sienna my dad gave me had the issue of starting up cold and dying. Once I get moving it’s fine. But it’s annoying in the beginning. I don’t want the starter to go out. Could it be my MAF sensor? I went to get the diagnostic done and there were NO error codes. So according to the OBD2 tester I have a top notch vehicle.
L am facing the exact problem. See,. When the car is cold in the morning, it cranks well then runs for like ten seconds, then goes off. I therefore have to crank it, then keep pressing in the gas peddle for it to warm after which the car moves very well. What could be the issue. Once it's warmed up, it, works perfectly well and starts smoothly, there is no check engine sign as well. Any help, guys?

Watched with it being a Toyota. Own a 1970s Toyota & live in the UK. All it takes is a few degrees cooler & starting problems set in. Until a few years ago the car was a South African market car where it's not by & large cool. Could a different climate from country to country be a factor?
I have a 1985 Toyota Factory 1 Ton Pickup 22R . Efi . 5 Speed I drove it for years Ok . In December 2006 I drove it throw a deep water puddle & it die'd . It has Not ran right since ! You try to start it . It starts for less the 1 Sec & die's! you let off the key & try to start it again . it starts for less then 1 Sec & die's ! It does This every time you try to start it ! I have replaced the { fuel pump, fuel pump screen , Fuel Filter .Fuel Pump Regulator . } . I took the gas tank off. & cleaned it . { it will run as long as you spray gas in to the Air Cleaner } you Stop It Dies ! today is 4/27/2018 I can find No One That Can Help Me! I have been trying to fix it . Now I will say that 2 times over the years I have got it to start & run till I shout it off ! & it did restart ! But I went out the Next Day ! & It would Start for Less then 1 Sec & Die ! I Love this truck Please Help Thanks George
Check distributor/coil/plugs/ wires Timing Marks/Chain Compression check Leak down test Water could off entered into the cylinder head/intake manifold cause the valves to bend (Hydrolock) Worst case scenario, bent con rod.
u saud it runs as long as u spray gas on air cleaner right... the that means the problem is fuel supply... if tank is ok, fuel filter is ok, try checking the pipe for clogs, and more importantly, check your injectors along with camshaft sensor and all connections in it.. that might work
@@elgatogordo9523 ur recommendation reiterates what ChrisFix did for honda his nieghbor gave to him for free and wouldn't start--his process of figuring out why a car wouldn't start resulted in an incorrectly timing belt replacement--the timing marks were off
So just a suggestion... I know you said you replaced the fuel pressure regulator... I’ve had similar issues in the past with my 00 Grand Am... and after losing my mind, I found myself back to step one... so on a hunch I removed the RECENTLY PURCHASED, brand new (and Advanced Auto Certified) Fuel Pressure Reg, and went back to the store... after arguing with the staff, swapped it for another one and VOILA... I discovered THAT NOT EVERY “NEW” part you purchase is fully functional... and believe it or not a few years later I ran into THE SAME problem in that car with a starter... (and that was thanks to OReilly Auto)... AND I even bench tested the starter and it passed. But some parts can pass a bench teSt but still fail under real world conditions (ex. Mounted onto a vehicle)
