@chrilla1980 Making a car run on lpg is pretty easy, but I did swap the engine with a younger one which is suitable for running on unleaded fuel. Otherwise you need extra lubrication.
@zetnakatel This engine has an electronic injection which isn't wired to keep it simple. I only installed the LPG system and wired the ignition to make it run. The vaporizer is a Renzo-Landi.
@SierraCoz Not all of these injections have those air flow meters and this one doesn't need them, because I didn't connect the fuel injection. It only runs on LPG.
They did and America didn't like them when Ford introduced the MK3 Granada as the Merkur Scorpio but lacking a V8 seemed to upset people, the following Ford Scorpio sold little as well as the sister Merkur XR4Ti failed to capture America's hearts and the Scorpio Ultima had the incredible Cosworth 24v V6 in which was a pretty tuned up Cologne 2.9 but they stuck it into the failed Scorpio and never put it into the Cougar or the sports Mondeo's (Mondeo's did sell in the US but not very well) Here in the UK we had extra special Ghia X Executive special editions based on the Granada 2.8i with the same seat leather as Rolls Royces, funny too that the Cologne, like the Pinto engine became quite popular in America popping up in pickups and vans but sadly the engines for some reason were deemed unreliable when I have never had a Cologne or an Essex V6 ever go bad despite some heavy abuse. Just be happy too in the knowledge your Fox body cars were based on Ford UK's horrible MK3 Escort design which spread across Europe like a disease but at least you got V8 versions, all we got were 1.6 litre crap jobs and it never was as good as the MK2 Escort :(
@micrasupers557 I had a 2.8 from the same year, it had this K-tronic mechanical injection system. It sat for many years and all parts were stuck, I had to replace many components to make it run.
@auzzybloke You got that right, the Ford Falcon looks very simular. But it has a lot of small differences, for example the Falcon has mc Pherson suspension, the Granada has double wishbone. Engines are also completely different. The engine in my car isn't original.
@kayrol18 I fitted this engine in this car and never connected the wirings for the electronic fuel injection system, I only connected the ignition and so it only runs on LPG
greetings from England, even though we dont get interesting winters like what you obviously do, Id still recomment running a car at least every two days [especially if the car is french or italian], it means they always run properly and start quickly.
@SierraCoz That's right, this engine came from a Granada Scorpio. The Sierra you have has the same engine, only more cc's. I had those before this 2.4. The 24v engine isn't good to run on LPG, it will wear fast.
@poseidon26ful Nee, kan niet. De motor is een 2.4 EFI uit een Scorpio waarvan de injectie niet is aangesloten omdat de Granada oorspronkelijk een 2.3 met carburateur had.
@pietjanhenk Ahh ok it´s the same here with "benzine" and diesel then but i don´t know how much the taxes are with gas. Cheerz and a HUGE thank you for answering my wonders :)
@chrilla1980 But this car is an exception. Because it's older than 25 years it's taxfree and insurance is only 80 euro's a year ;-) And.. because it's also older than 30 years it only needs MOT once in 2 years.
@mastermilo82 Yepp that´s actually exactly what i wanted to know :) but i think you missed my other question if it runs cheaper than with regular gas? Cheerz
@chrilla1980 yes, in the netherlands the order of paying tax price from low to high is this: benzine, diesel and the one that has the highest tax is LPG.
scorpio is the rename of granada for several countries in europe and sierra is the taunus renamed , both for comercial reasons, in the u.k. the names were changed later, the first scorpio in england was still called Granada.
@mastermilo82 ah that explains it!! i have a sierra xr4x4 with the 2.9 cologne engine in it. love the sound they make. did you get the 2.4 cologne engine out of a later granada scorpio? they made a 2.9 24v v6 cosworth engine in the last of the granada scorpios. at the moment i'm putting one of them engines in to a mk3 capri 2.8i special
ehehe old carbed cars with LPG are a bit a pain in the ass starting them, my father had a 1.1L Renault 11 and in winter he started the car with gasoline first, then switch to LPG
