Excellent video Mike! The large G-10 Espada, is our "family's" favorite knife. I have one, so does my brother, my two sons AND nephew! The moment, I showed them that folder, they "had to" have one too lol! I also have the large deluxe model but that one rarely gets taken out for pretty much the same reasons you stated. If I'm gonna be carrying a knife like the Espada, I don't want everyone and their brother to know it so, it's more of a collector's piece for me. For me, the large G-10 Espada has what I would consider, EVERYTHING that you'd want and or need in a folder... It's our (family's)"ultimate" folding knife!!! Again Mike, excellent video...
Going from that Large Espada to the XL looks more like going from a Medium to a XXL. That thing is ginormous. Interesting how much weight perception changes depending on what you are used to. I carry around a 24~ ounce pistol (loaded) pretty frequently and that would be considered a very light gun and that's not including however much it's IWB holster weighs. I couldn't imagine a 9~ ounce blade being much of a bother unless my pants were loose enough that it would cause them to sag, that's only an ounce or two heavier than my phone which is around 8 and it's a non problem.
I'll be uploading the XL review next week. There once was a "medium" 4 inch Espada but it's not currently available. I've gotten used to this one and it's perfectly comfortable for pocket carry.
The Espadas are a must own for CS collectors, even if you can’t EDC them legally.😅I don’t particularly need Lynn Thompson’s signature, the knives speak for themselves. The premium editions are outside of what I consider reasonable. I prefer to keep some spare change for future designs coming down the pipeline. 2024 is going to be a good year.😁
Personally, I am not really interested in the "premium" versions because they are heavier and thicker. But I am really looking forward to the comparison and your thoughts in that regard.
Id like to recommend what i used for mine. One eBay there is a company called pops clips. They make deep carry clips. I changed my pocket clip it made a amazing difference for very cheap. The clips fit a lot of coldsteel. I chose the G10 because im lefthanded. The fancy one is only righthand carry. A great knife. I only stopped carrying mine all the time because its Xhp and its not easily replaced.
I don't have the Espada because there is another CS 5.5 inches that is similar and for me it is the true masterpiece of CS... l don't tell what it is, l will wait to see on the channel... Anyway Espada L and Xl are gorgerous knives!
I always find that any cold steel folder with the thumb plate gets caught up in the material of the pocket and as I pull the knife out it the knife starts to open in the pocket and gets stuck is this just me?
@@michaelrizzo5523 That is my point I found it can open in the pocket and rip your pocket or even poke your leg not a fan of a fake wave opener that was poorly designed because they do not want to pay Emerson a fee for designing a real wave feature that really works.

I don't have an Espada L, but it seems difficult to hold the end of the handle However, the Espada XL has a palm space at the end of the handle, which can be held with the whole hand. Reach is important for defense equipment ,this is the advantage of cold steel large defensive folding knives. Please make the most of this advantage.
I love CS folders! I've carried a XL version for well over 10 years now and have adored both. The first was a clip point that sadly disappeared and I currently carry the Vaquero. They pocket carry extremely well and I have found that they fit into. 25 cal pocket pistol holsters for belt carry with a bit of modding to the holsters. If you review the 6 inch ti lite be aware that over time the pivot will start to loosen and cause the lock to stick. A little polish in the pivot area of the Voyager will clean up deployment as well.
I have the 4" and 6" Luzons on the list to review and have had consistent "lock drift" and jams on both since they were new. Makes me reluctant to even try the Ti-Lite.
