Nice review. I have wanted one for a long time. My current EDC neck knife rotation is either the old Cold Steel Scimitar Spike or the Cold Steel Scottish Spike, both are discontinued and I love them. After this review, I may think about getting one sooner than later. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the close-up look at this knife Baz! And for the history lesson. I had not seen this knife before. Or one like it. I really like the pattern on the FRN too. I could see that being a boot knife as well.
Very good review. I own this blade and it is very handy. I would like to see this knife with a slightly longer handle and a 5" blade but retain the same style.
I agree about a larger size. Although I am thinking a 1" increase on both blade and handle. My intended usage wouldn't be utility, but more as a hideout piece to carry with my firearm of the day.
I disagree with you about the utility of this blade. It's a 3.25" FFG blade, just like a paring knife. You can do all the EDC tasks most people would need.
Built as a modern Sgian Dubh, it is by design thin and flat. Just what is needed to lay flat against your leg tucked into kilt hose. A Sgian Dubh was Intended more as a weapon than "utility knife". Most are simply for dress use these days.
The reason why I like at max 4 mm blade stock its not because of utility. Its because it will allow powerful slashs in the bad guy. Just like it will slice that tomate, it will slice the bad guy. Moreover this is perfect for people like me who prefer the edge on the inside. Cold Steel is the best bang for your buck again and again.
Looks like a cool knife, especially for the price. Like all the cool facts. Btw, how long do u usually research a knife and its history B4 u review it?
Christopher Varner, most of my research is done before I buy the knife rather than before I review it. Like anyone else I try to be an educated buyer so I get the best out of my $$$'s.
Hi man thanks for the review, I've been looking to pick this one up. Have you noticed the sheath dulling the blade? I usually have that issue with securex and not sure I want to go the custom sheath route like I did with my Kyotos...
I would like to be able to give you an answer, but I gave the knife away as a gift shortly after filming the video. I will say this though....Those sheaths are known to dull knives if the blade edge rubs while inserting or removing the knife. I would just assume this one will as well. That way, if it does, you are prepared. And if it doesn't you can be pleasantly surprised.
@@BazonBlades hehe i thought so, but maybe I'll be more lucky on after all this blade shape is pretty straight and symmetrical and the edge will be less likely to be dragged against the seam of the sheath on the draw. We'll see about that, either way I could still try and see if I can fit it into a pocket sheath by Delta sheaths that I have, that might work. Thanks man!
