Glad to see that Cold Steel kept up with its quality control standards.
@kylehenline3245

More like arrived at them haha. The hyper expensive stuff has mostly always been solid but In the 90s cold steel under 200 was basically junk, just standard mall ninja crap with slightly better metal than their Chinesium competition. Maybe I just had particularly bad luck but I recall the grinds being god awful. Their improvement from like the mid 2000s on have been super impressive, all the sudden we have great axes and tomahawks even in their budget lines. Can't really comment on the knives unfortunately, I should probably give them a try, but it's incredibly difficult to beat Morakniv or Opinel in the budget market and I would rather buy from a private blacksmith if i'm going expensive.

@@paulscountry456 China can make some good metal, but you gotta be hyper diligent in your QC and often need to send people over to get shit dialed in directly. Trusting them to source good steel is still a gamble, but they do have a number of actually world class cast iron manufacturers.

@@kylehenline3245 They can make very high quality optical glass and great shoes....lol .Come to think of it Chinese clothing and textile products are really rugged for the most part and I own at least three Chinese firearms and they are rough but dependable , I shot a Norinco 1911 clone that was far better overall than a GI 1911.

Proof that a knife doesn't need to be fancy to be good. Edit: I get it. It's really really good steel. What I mean by "fancy" is that there is no saw, no compass, no "mall ninja" accessories. It's a simple blade, and that's all it means to be.

What do you even mean, do you mean bending it back and forth without it breaking is absurd, that proves it's quality steel, or do you mean bending it back and forth without taking a break between bends is absurd, because he's testing the knife on video, he trying to show how much and it can take, he tests knives and gear to see what is better and what is crap, so I'm not sure exactly what is absurd about either one

I used to work at a gun store and a Cold Steel rep called us up one time to try to get their products in the store. I was in no position to make a call like that, but the rep was insistent on sending me whatever knife I wanted from their catalog. He literally just let me take my pick. I got a Recon 1 with a serrated blade, but he sent an extra one without the serrated edge "just in case". I gave the non-serrated one to another worker, and still carry that knife to this day. Probably 10+ years old. You could shave with it right out of the box. I tried to put in a good word with the product manager, but I don't know if they ever talked. It's a great knife, and their customer service was top notch

I carry this same knife in all black. It’s solid if you’re not worried about having a $500 knife for the name. 5mm thick blade helps a lot.

After doing bashes and bend tests, would you show us a close up view down along the spine or blade please. The Visual affirmation builds trust.

I've owned my share of their knives, never had a problem with them. Excellent knives.

Is have cold steel folders. Great edge retention. Also Spartan blades. Spartan I used for operations and with the cryo treat the blade it has never even deflected.

Fun fact, the small essee pouch will mount to the srk sheath and is big enough to handle an altoids tin. Mine came with a convex grind

The only reason haters dont understand your integrity, is because they have none. Its unfortunate that you had a reason to make a follow-up to this review. That knife is an amazing piece of kit.

I have been carrying the old school AK-47 folder. This is the one with the thick aluminum handle non-painted blade and the old I believe it was called trilock system. Anyway I have one that is 23 years old that I still carry every single day now the blade has worn down from 20 years of sharpening but it digs in soil scraped coating off a steel pipe as I am a gas line inspector. Unbelievable knives and I also have the cheaper version of this SRK that is always on my motorcycle along with all of my machetes are the two handled cold steel and I also have a 15-year-old cold steel hatchet that also stays on my motorcycle at all times. Every go bag has a cold steel product in it.

That's my every day carry. I like this knife and hope that mine is just as durable! The grip is awesome. The weight is lovely for me.

I used to hate cold steel until someone told me the machetes weren't actually made by them just stamped with their brand. Gave them another shot. Gotta say their knives and axes are superb.i love spyserco, crkt and others but cold steel is great.

I got the SK5. Great knife. Full tang. Can run with it unsnapped and not worry about retention. Hard pommel for combat.❤
