I’ve had a ti lite in aus8 for over 10 years and it’s been an awesome tool. I’ve cut everything from envelopes to packaging and food. It’s definitely a solid carry option. Great video 👌👌

I own the aluminum S35VN version of this knife. I bought it for one purpose. To keep myself safe while out and about alone at night. It's clearly a tactical fighter thoroughbred. I love it. So far it's stayed in my pocket, thank God! But it's faster at the draw than any auto and it's better built. And the sharpness... Holy FUCK! A surgeon could use it for an operation. If you want self defense with less than a gun, buy it. It will most likely get you home alive. BTW, train with it. Knowing how to use a blade will only further ensure you're getting home in one piece.

It's just too bad that it's not set up for lefty carry. Some of us like to carry knives like this as weak (left) hand backup defensive tools. It's weird, because Cold Steel is normally very good with making sure their tools are ambidextrous.

I have a 20 year old aus8 with zytel handles it's been through more hard work than most knives and despite w burnt handle a heavily worn blade and no thumb stud she'll probably do another decade of heavy work ( including cutting roofing shingles and bags of sand gravel and concrete) if you wanted it to

That def has its place in carry. I think it’s defense and tactical purposes are great. It can prob cut tape and open boxes to if needed. Iv definitely been thinking about getting a long slender blade for self defense purposes

I've carried my Ti-Lite in AUS 8A for close to 15 years now. Good sturdy knife. Lock will fail if you smack it against a hard object. And, the two "guard wings" are sharp as hell and will tear up your pants pockets, and your hand from time to time. I do not recall the knife ever opening up because "I caught it on my pocket accidentally". It will do anything that needs doing in an EDC usage for me. Unless your EDC involves slicing tomatoes? I've never thought, "damnit" why did I carry this one today. Honestly, my Spyderco Delica from around the same time has spent 99% of its life in a desk drawer. This one is easy to sharpen and keeps an edge well enough. Big enough, and sturdy enough. Not perfect, but nothing is.
@Kinglymarker8988

It is made to automatically open upon removal from pocket. Lightning fast...... They don't really advertise this feature.
@angryagain68
@angryagain68 Год назад
@@Kinglymarker8988 Fully aware. And yes, they did advertise this feature. Not really a useful feature in my opinion. I can open it nearly as fast with the thumb stud. "If" I needed a knife to be open faster than that, I would simply carry a fixed blade instead. These things are sharp as hell and are more of a hinderance than a "feature". Being hard as hell on both your pants pockets and your hands as well.
@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALL
@@angryagain68 I suppose you could just sand down the wings and make them really smooth too. I just ordered both 4" and 6" Australia 8. Debating on this s35vn in 4" now too. 😅
@angryagain68
@angryagain68 Год назад
@@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALL Yes. If you have tools, time and a little bit of talent you could "de-horn" this pretty nicely. Great sturdy knife. Never was able to get it "super sharp". Just sorta "sharp enough". The s35vn might be a bit harder to sharpen, but will probably take a finer edge and hold it longer than my AUS 8A. Either way, enjoy!
@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALL
@@angryagain68 thanks! I hear s35vn is the more superior steel. I don't really have a "HIGH END" steel knife besides some nice 1095s. I got Aus 8, Aus 10, D2 (so they say), and the some of the usual 8crMov. Looking into some VG10 and S35VN next to add to the collection. On midway they got the SOG Pillar for $99!! Picked that up after seeing a comment! Check it out! 💪🥳

Stilettos and poignards were designed to get past chain mail during the middles ages. Except for that advantage, they are less effective for self defense than the common clip point. However they are very narrow blades hence pretty light for their blade length. That’s a big advantage in modern edc. This will definitely slice a submarine sandwich and share a BBQ chicken. However I have never done so in public since onlookers really freak out. It’s also poor for rescue work - seatbelt, clothing - since it’s hard to not accidental angle it a little wrong and poke the person you are trying to help. In other words the 4” Voyager is better. Than being said, it’s really a form of fan service for those who can remember the social panic movie “Blackboard Jungle”. And for that nostalgic impulse I put down my $44 and bought one.

CS TiLite was the first "real" knife I bought after a lifetime of box store junk.I had two 4" TiLite's; the budget version in satin Aus8 & plastic, & $140(2012) Aluminum, 4" bead blastCTS-XHP I think. That one was solid knife but unbearable for front pocket carry in tight cowboy jeans. Rode beside my wallet in the back pocket chewing into my wallet. Luckily I'm weird and had a thick HD wallet w/1" link SS chain.

I hope they keep iterating on this design. There are some easy improvements to make that should make it significantly more comfortable to carry. I think they should use G10 instead of aluminum scales, and I think they should also slim down the profile a bit. I think they should also lose the full steel liners and go with minimal support liners just around the pivot. Those three things would go a long way with this knife. I also think an automatic version without the flipper tab bits would be pretty nice.

It's a nice toy to play with at home though. I guess it is balanced like a combat knife, like my Coldsteel Tanto Spike is. It's fun wo whirl it around and stuff, but it really is poopy for gutting and great for violently stabbing.
