Voyager Tanto XL is so good, I bought 2 of them . > No bigger than my phone when folded. > It's my mini machete on trail, giving me 8 inch reach with good chopping power. > Stainless enough to be used on the ocean > Easy to sharp and get razor edge > Stay sharp longer than carbon steel knife.

That's the one that I have right now besides my Microtech Hellhound OTF knife. That Cold Steel Voyager XL Tanto is a good pair with my S&W 4006 TSW .40 cal pistol. A tanto folding knife and a 40 cal pistol makes a good couple, they're great couple. I always carry Knife and a Pistol everyday wherever I go. Actually I also bring utility knife with me as well because I'm not gonna use my cold steel voyager XL Tanto for cutting boxes or opening packages the knife will get dull, and I don't like that since I'm always want my knife to be scary sharp and combat ready everytime everywhere I go.

Same here man. But I'm not into Tanto that much I'm much more into drop point and Kris blade. Voyager XL Kris is paired with my Springfield XD 10mm. Then yesterday I got my new knife the cold steel 5 Max drop point I will pair that knife my with S&W 627pc 357mag. Just like you bro I carry knife and a gun "concealed" I don't like it when everybody can see what I'm carrying I love it concealed carry I don't wanna lose the element of surprise. The voyager XL Kris is huge! It's wicked! And nasty. There's no way I would invest on Spyderco knives they look queer. I feel safer with cold steel knives

@@twinbee4243hey man do you have anything bigger than that? How about Cold Steel Espada XL? That's what I've been carrying for over a year now besides my Desert Eagle 44mag I'm also carrying a big ass knife such as Espada XL. And the Spyderco fanboys are intimidated by my knife. I used to carry cold steel trail master, but I began to get annoyed and irritated because of how the people looks at me whenever they see me I'm open carrying a big ass Bowie knife. I was like what did I do why these people are giving me a bad look. So I decided to invest in a extra large folder like the Espada XL is a big ass Bowie! So huge! It's like you're walking around with a big ass chick with a big boobs that's what I felt when I'm carrying my Espada XL but it's a good thing that knife can be conceal carry.

I'm 6ft7 and I got big ass hands, I'm handling my Desert Eagle 44mag like I'm shooting a Glock 19, and my cold steel Espada XL I'm handling that knife like a little Spyderco. I got big ass hands! And when I'm wearing my leather jacket, people can't really notice IF carrying something or not because both my knife and my gun are concealed.

At the beginning when I had the knife I pushed a Chinese chopstick under the clip for 15 minutes, and after that the tension is now absolutely perfect 😅🤷‍♂️

Great review. I own one myself. Love the Cold Steel tanto blade shape. It’s defensive like the Vaquero but can be utilitarian like the clip or drop point. However, nothing beats the “Holy Crap” factor of the Kris blade Voyager.

I absolutely love this knife my Voyager Tanto XL is scary sharp. The first day I got it I closed it on my index, finger knuckle and cut it. It bled like a stuck hog definitely my favorite EDC knife I would hate to be on the receiving end of this thing. Thank you sir, for producing such great knife review videos.

Got one of these with an Amazon gift card for like $65 last year. It’s a lot of knife for the money! I use it when on occasion I travel to a neighboring state that doesn’t recognize my CPL but has very lax knife laws as far as carry. If I can’t have my pistol legally imma rock a big knife. 😅 was sad that mine came missing a pocket clip screw and GSM after reaching out to them said they didn’t have any spares to send 😑 not a big deal but 1 screw is kinda silly, just glad it was just for the clip.

Never unarmed!! Thats some wack customer service I had a similar issue but they resolved it after I didn’t give up - hopefully they start taking better care if their customers Glad you enjoy the knife though!

I love the voyager series. I have the tanto, vaquero, and the kris. It's always a hard decision deciding which one to carry. But lately I've been carrying the kris just out of homage and the love for the filipino martial arts. I'd like to see you review the clinch pick and get your thoughts on that.

I like it a lot. For self defense, the other two voyager knives would work better for me since I'd be using karate attacks. The Vaquero, serrated bottom one, is nice, too!

all of them work the same for self defense honestly technically the drop point and clip point are the best for "survival" or outdoor tasks but the tanto honestly looks cool as shit. I got a drop point but the tanto/clip shape both speak to me more, lmao

They certainly do an amazing job! Tkell Ops Hawk Tanto also really impressed me and so do the CRKT Williams lines like the Otanashi and HZ6 If you want modern americanized Tanto I agree no one does it better than Cold Steel!!

Some years back when I used to bounce, I carried this exact knife. One night after close, two meth heads tried to force their way in with framing hammers. When I came out to see what all the shouting was about, I pulled the knife immediately. They immediately wavered, and when I started to advance at them with it, they broke and ran.

@@tacticaltavern you can always test it. Regular small lockback knives can hold at least 300 pounds and it's been tested. Triad is way stronger, even if their booklet says 300 it's way more.

@@tacticaltavern no, but I have watched Joe X risk his fingers on tri-ad locks and they held. Blade HQ did a locktype test and a spyderco delica using a traditional lockback made it over 1500 pounds. In both cases the knife broke before the lock failed and it's the only lock type that handled that. It also uses FRN scales like a voyager and the blade and handle stock is smaller. Tri-ad is a modified lockback and has proven to be much stronger than a lockback so I'm quite sure the blade will break before the lock fails too. It can fail if you are swinging it into bricks but that's because a ton of force is going into the knife backwards if you did that, Joe X was able to disengage it that way. The tri-ad lock is just insanely strong and when it's locked up you can trust it like a full-tang knife. The most dangerous thing is closing it on yourself, which I stupidly did and I couldn't bend my finger for two weeks.
