In this bass fishing video, we took the Native Watercraft Slayer Max 10 (kayak) potentially on the last fishing trip of the year here at the Des Plaines river in Illinois. It was a cold morning and temperatures were in the low 40's. Kayak fishing during the fall/winter can be tough sometimes but we managed to catch a few largemouth bass on the kayak. As I've mentioned before, I primarily throw Geecrack soft plastics, and in this video, everything was caught on a dirty jigs flipping jig paired with the Geecrack Bellows Craw. The Bellows Craw has been a fantastic soft plastic for me this year, and it's caught me a ton of largemouth bass this year. During this time of the year, it's important to understand your surrounding as many folks were duck hunting and is why I wore bright clothing...better to stand out while kayak bass fishing in that situation.
The Des Plaines river has produced a lot of good size bass for me this year and fishing out of the kayak has been a ton of fun. At this point, I've made made the switch and am only fishing with Geecrack soft plastics...give them a try. I hope you enjoy the video, as it likely may be the last kayak bass fishing video of 2023.
