I remember first hearing this back in 1994 on the Essential Mix and it completely took my breath away. It literally sends chills down my spine every single time I listen to it. Simply Beautiful and it will always be one of my personal favourites 💙💙
I used to DJ for many years back in the 90s and 2000s in a great classic café in Madrid called Café Belén. This track was an essential on my sessions, people were just hypnotised by the beauty of it. Then I would play "Five Strings Serenade" By Mazzy Star or some Cocteau Twins and it was just pure magic... and then back to some electronic stuff like Aphex Twin. Happy times!
Stephen R yes it still exists but new owners and really horrible music now. Back in the 90s we were a couple DJs and one of them was this gay guy who was very crazy too but was an early genius from the balearic style. He would mix electronics and then play Cold Song by Klaus Nomi and people would literally freak out. He was amazing!
I’ve been searching for this song for 21 years. Since hearing a more up beat version of it at cafe del mar Ibiza 2000. I’ve had the tune in my head all that time. Don’t suppose you played or heard of other versions of this classic.
yes Hiro, I own a copy...I have been listening to it since 1995....I suffered from depression back then, and i would put this track on repeat and listen to it a dozen times, then go to the lake and watch the waves and the sunset....some things go beyond words, and the track/album are a compilation of genius which aided in my cure!!!
I am choking back tears now listening to it. So powerful, the emotions and memories this particular track evokes. I need to grab a hankie and to let it all out Just beautiful. I’m 57 now, I wish Ibiza would hold an ‘OG’ event for us all maybe one week every season, so we can all go back there and experience it again without the risk of kids whipping their damn phones to film us for their damn tik tock or whatever, like we are dancing dinosaurs🙄
My sympathies go out to you. That must have been so hard for you. I can understand how you feel. I watched my wife pass away and that was tough. This song doesn't make me feel better! I love this though. I love Autumn - or used to. I don't anymore.
Autumn leaves fall and are swept out of sight, The words that you said have come true. Autumn leaves fall and are swept out of sight, So is the memory of love that we knew. The wind of forgetfullness blows them Into the night of regret. The song we so often did sing, Is echoing echoing yet. The falling leaves, Drift by the window. The autumn leaves of red and gold. I see your lips, The summer kisses, The sunburned hands I used to hold. Since you went away, The days grow long, And soon I'll hear cold winter song. But I miss you most of all, my darling, When autumn leaves start to fall.
Sounds as fresh as it did over twenty years ago when I first heard it. Simply one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever created... Αθάνατη μουσική
Agree 100%❤ Just totally knocked me off balance stumbling across it on here after SO long! The MEMORIES it has flooded me with! I was 26 in 1993 and just the biggest year of my life. Reliving the absolute rollercoaster of emotions! I need to play this WHENEVER I feel stressed. The only mindfulness I need ❤ No wonder I was happier then. WHAT a hauntingly beautiful timeless track. Ethereal ❤
Back to this masterpiece here in December 2021... it just hypnotizes... I've heard so many versions of this song, with vocal and without, old and new, electronic & pop, but this remix is the only one that has touched my soul so truly and deeply... heard it back almost 10 years ago for the first time and it still doesn't let me go... Happy 2022 to Everyone & Merry Christmas!
Not sure if anyone recalls but this version was the one used on MTVs famous Chill Out Zone in mid 90s which blended from song to song to song. Utterly brilliant 👌
I actually had a Ministry of Sound CD set that has this track back in the day, and I somehow didn't realise what a beauty this was and skipped right over it. Maybe it was fate, because having rediscovered this recently I think I'll appreciate it for longer than I would of the first time around.
Nostalgia hurts. Enjoy it in small doses and special moments. Keep change and balance alive. I love that sound as well. And many similar ones. Peace, freedom, love, belief, truth, insight… …and fun!!
Deep and chilled euphoria is in my humble opinion the best ambient mix. This track is on disc 2 and indeed is a timeless classic. Many an hour has been spent listening to this mix horsing around!
Man I can’t believe I found this song again. I remember in 2008-2009, I just got out of a toxic relationship and was single for the first time in my life. And I found this song. Got in shape and ran to this song every time. Rain, sun, snow. It’s surreal to hear it again. Love it!
You just know when you are emotionally attached to a beautiful sound like this one. You feel tears from your eyes. This is still a very powerful song many years later. I hope you think so too. Dec 2019. ❤👍🙏😎
i never really comment on videos but this moved me so much. Found myself here from a Mixmaster Morris mix on Mixcloud. I think it was the first time i heard this song just last week but maybe i did in the 90s someplace and somewhere (I was 17 in ‘93 when it was released and was going to Megadogs, Whirlygig and Megatripolis etc). I lost my mum early to cancer on Sept 22nd 2014, the first day of autumn. and i miss her so. she loved the summer so much and waited for this day I feel. This song has brought me to tears, it’s so heartachingly beautiful ♥️
It really is a masterpiece. The way it draws you into a trance (No headache, No MK layers that one can pick up on) before reinforcing with all the percussion and the glockenspiel. They really don't do it this way anymore. And I get, this was a one of a kind to begin with.
If you all can find it, I recommend finding the compilation album TWO A.D. This song is featured as track2 alongside some other great, chill songs like this. Really great stuff.
Franswami Sisti I was fortunate enough to find all four of the series, and each are really good. Sadly, it's tough to track them down these days. Not even Amazon and the like have them for less than ridiculous prices. Still, great albums for a day off.
Yeah, nor did I until about a year ago, Lisa McIntyre. Found it at Amoeba Records in L.A. You might be able to order it from them if you look them up and they gave a copy on hand. That way you don't have to make the trip.
Hiro Nocturne 2 A.D. is one of the best ambient compilations ever! I think I picked up the cd in 1995 from new age /alternative spirituality book store in Marin County, CA. At the crossroads of new age ideologies, electronica and legal medical cannabis. Opened my mind then and now. =)
and i’m back to say again. my heart heals and my pain is eased, this masterpiece of music will be playing at my wedding or funeral whichever comes first, or both. Morris is a legend of a man. so much love for everyone who listens.
1993!! I still remember the very first time I heard this BEAUTIFUL ethereal remix on Nick Warren’s ‘Back to Mine’ album, 29 years ago! I was about 26/7, and madly in love with the only guy I have EVER truly loved. This became ‘our song’ ❤️ (The whole album is ‘ours’.. some VERY good memories of nights with this playing 🔥❤️) Anyway, I completed stuffed it up 🙄 I was SO insanely jealous of his (very cute!) ex from Aus , who flew over 3 mths after we’d got together on a pre-planned trip to visit , that I was just a nightmare😵😳 Behaved like one of those drama queen crazy women on TV!! Ran away on an impulse decision to the Greek Islands for a month in a huff! (He did not take me back when I got hone 😵🤣) Everyone says “Oh you shouldn’t have any regrets!” But that is BS. I absolutely regret self destructing that relationship. He WAS The One. At first sight. Like lighting bolts hit us both. Not had that before or since. No-one else has come close. I’m 56 now and been alone a long time since ending a bad relationship. Just heard via a friend that he has recently got divorced, so who knows? Maybe there’ll be a happy ending after all? I need to build up my nerve and contact him, don’t I? Wish me luck 🤞🏼 (Sorry, that is a POWERFUL track!! I regressed there for a bit!! 🤣🤣)
John Digweed Bunker #16 - John opened this weeks set with this track - his lockdown sessions have really helped me cope with all that is going on right now. Stay safe.
The best cover version ever, in fact "thee" best version of this song ever ever done, including the original. I have a version that is just minutely different from this, but it is even better.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE SONG I HAVE SEARCHED FOR YEARS FOR AFTER FIRST HEARING IT END THE TREMENDOUS ESSENTIAL MIX ON PETE TONG.. DONE SUPERBLY BY THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON GOT TO BE 1993?? 🍾😀👌🎉
I first heard a short version of this song around 2002 on a double cd chill mix that I had. I lost the cd soon after and was gutted because I loved this song, but forgot who sang it. I just found it and I just downloaded it. Best remix of the song ever.
The Autumn leaves drift by my window the Autumn leaves of red and gold I see your lips as summer kisses your sunburned hands I used to hold since you went away the days grow long and soon I’ll hear old winters song I miss you most of all when Autumn leaves start to fall, when Autumn leaves start to fall Absolutely beautiful song and covered by so many great singers from Matt Munro, Sinatra, and this stunning version, it’s the summers of long ago of love and heart ache and of the one person in my life that I let slip through my hands like grains of sand, she was my summer of all my summers and I miss her, I’ll love her for all time, Pauline, if ever you see this you’ll know who this is, and you’ll know that I absolutely love you and I want you, I miss, but most of all, when Autumn leaves start to fall Stuey xx
wowowowowowow wtf :O amazing originality in this track! I love how the way you expect a drop of a beat but it never comes, and still the track stays amazing as hell!
Today, 8th August 2018, is Severe M.E. Day and I have shared this in remembrance of those who have lost their lives to this disease. I have a curtailed version of this track, but this full, extended version, is so calming, soothing and oddly vivifying accompanied by such a relaxing image. Thank you, migoa75, for posting & sharing. %)))
