I'm 20 years old and the last time i cried like a baby was 6 years ago, after listening to this song i couldn't handle it.. my dad has been diagnosed by a brain cancer 9 months ago and the doctor told us his life expectancy is 3 months from now i'm his youngest kid he loved me so much he gave me everything i needed i just can't think about losing him i need you guys to pray for my dad i love him so much.
I too have fought depression since my teens and I'm in my 60's now. Keep fighting it, please don't let depression win because you are important, your life does matter to others that love you; and if this song helps then play it over and over until you feel somewhat better. You do whatever it is that helps you to cope. I wish and pray you will find happiness.

Feeling as if I don't even deserve to be loved by anyone. I always ask myself, why do I keep falling for people that I can never have? This is just one of those few rare songs that expresses what I feel deep down in the most raw unfiltered way I can tell it.
I listened to this a few weeks ago while drinking after finding out someone I loved who i thought loved me never did. Was all a lie and they're now involved with someone else yet all I'm left with is memories, confusion and pain. This guy for a short time was the one person who I felt truly did fix me but it was so short lived that it only wounded me further after so much already. Now I'm just trying to move on but its hard.

I've been struggling with depression for a few years now, and it's really bad right now, but this song makes me feel hopeful. On May 20th, 2022, I was on the mood today during an online therapy... and I don't know what to do to make me calm down. But then, a friend of mine recommended me this song. I wasn't sad, I was *TOUCHED.* I would listen to this song whenever I feel like I can't do it or I was down and felt depressed. My parents, friends and teachers are here to calm me and help cope with my stress and anxiety, and this song reminded me of them. I told that friend, "I wasn't sad or gloomy, I was really touched with this song." At first, I heard this song in a movie I watched called Abominable. And I heard the FULL song this year, and this song is stuck in my head ever since and it pops out in my head when I am facing hard problems. Yes, I am graduating from Grade 6 to High School and I am encountering even more hard problems, but still, this song pops out in my head whenever I encounter these problems. This song LITERALLY reminds us that we have to stay strong no matter what, never give up. Let the lights leave a path to you. This song also helps with the feeling that you want to give up and you can't or don't want to do it. This song is about to have the commitment to not give up and overcome the problems you have ran away from, like a hard test or climbing a mountain. This song has the problems you are stressing at the start, and tells you the basics to fix the problem and your mood. And half the end and the end, it has the things you did when you had the commitment. Here's a message to the future generations, don't let this song die. Writing this comment while listening to this makes me cry so hard, the lyrics even hit me hard like a punch in the gut.
This song motivated me to come back to the person I lost...myself in a one-sided relationship. Every time I hear this, it pushes me to find my worth and fix the part of me that fell for the wrong person. In 2002, Gwyneth Paltrow's father died and she came home from the hospital crying, just showing remorse about what happened. Paltrow is famously known as the actress who played Pepper Potts in Avengers/Iron Man movies. She was in a relationship with Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin at that time. the first time i listened to this song was when i was 14 and i remember crying my eyes out cause i could feel every lyric. now i'm 22 and it has become such a special song to me, i always cry when i listen to it and i feel like i can understand it better now and i see it in a different light. back then it made me sad but it gave me hope. now it still does that but i can also appreciate the beauty of going through difficult times and overcoming them and growing as a person. coldplay always know how to get you in touch with your feelings, their songs are really beautiful and special. please don't ever give up y'all, keep going and always have hope. there may be things that will hurt forever but with time you'll be able to come to terms with that and accept it. life isn't perfect but things will get better and you will find your happiness. sending you much love 💗

I hope his wonderful spirit is free and that he has finally found peace. Our family will never be the same. The sun doesn't shine as bright for me anymore. ***** No, not rude at all. In fact, I am glad to share this with people as there needs to be more useful help and info available. My Aaron was happy-go-lucky as a child. As he grew up, still no problems. He had good friends, played golf, had girlfriends, had a job, etc. He was much loved and the treasured first-born, only son and perhaps little spoiled. We were loving parents and his sister, 4 yrs younger, adored her big brother and he was very protective of her. We were close and would have long conversations about music, books, movies, etc. We all lived the ocean and he was always happy there. He started having anxiety probs at 22 but he was in a management position for a retail store where he was in line for district manager. There was lots of pressure to "keep your numbers, or sales up". We chalked the anxiety up to that, very common these days as you know. At 24, he started seeing a girl and she got pregnant and he was very happy, he'd always loved kids and after he got used to the idea he was very excited. Personally, I think he was scared to death and not ready "to settle down" yet, nevertheless, he was thrilled when his son was born. He adored that child. He taught him martial arts, showed him his fav childhood movies, took him sleigh riding, took him outside and showed him the night sky, lightening, everything that he loved. In turn, Connor had a special closeness to his Daddy. Long story short, business slowed, he was laid off and fell into a depression. We worried, but not alot, he was still our Aaron and would find another job. He had family support and never had to worry about having a home or food to eat and his son, my grandson, was taken care of also. Last June, he went to my Mother, his Grandmother, and said that he needed help, something was going on and it wasn't right. He then started the round of dr.'s, counselors, etc. He got worse, not better, as they tried this pill and that pill. He had always been picky about his hair, clothes, etc. Not overly so but he never looked messy. He worked out, mowed my grandparents yard, took Connor on long walks, all the while trusting the meds to work. We were frustrated, not knowing how to help, we weren't familiar with mental illness and we wanted to help him, encourage him and not "enable" him. His girlfriend, mother of his son, appointed herself his caregiver. I asked her what we could to help, she said wr just had to wait for the meds to work.He had been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, bi-polar, the list goes on but you get the idea. Some days, he almost acted like himself, we later found out these were his manic times and he was more like himself. We thought on these days that he was getting better, actually, it was just part of the illness. I looked for support groups, there were none in our area, we hit roadblocks everywhere we turned. We felt helpless, frustrated, sad for the guy we had lost but we thought he'd get better, I never gave up hope. He came to family gatherings and I realize now how difficult that must have been for him, after awhile he would become so agitated, so nervous, he'd have to leave. He had always been the last to go from any family thing. I asked him, my parents asked him, his sister asked him if he ever felt suicidal. He'd say that sometimes he didn't care if he woke up the next day but, no, he wouldn't do that to Connor and he was afraid he'd go to hell. I honestly didn't worry about that. I just focused on the dr.'s finally finding the right drug "cocktail" and getting him back. On the night of Feb. 12, 2014, after a day of arguing with his girlfriend, she told him she was leaving and he had become co-dependent on her since she was his "caregiver". This strong, take charge, laughing, gentle soul didn't know what to do. I had talked to him that day and he said he was longing for the past, things were easier then and I told him that , yes, we had a great past but our future was going to be just as good, there were just a few bumps in the road right now. His gf called me at 12:20 a.m. saying he was being mean. When I talked to him he just sounded drained, his gf threw his phone, cussed me after calling me, choked him, all in the presence of my grandson. He had talked to his buddy earlier that day and told him that his soul was sooo tired. I told him I was coming to get Connor, who was crying and scared in the background. When I got dressed I called to say I was on my way and his gf answered the phone, screaming and crying, and told me that he had shot himself.
He put a gun to his temple and pulled the trigger. My grandson, 4 yrs old, will live that night over and over for the rest of his life. He misses his Daddy and needs counseling and I hope and pray that his mom sees that he gets it. Right now, she isso wrapped up in her own guilt/grief that their son is in the background. Thank God, we have had him most of the summer but he will be going to her, 8 hrs away. My daughter and son in law will be able to pick him up and take him to their house out in the country but thisis where we are. NONE of us saw it coming. I believe he was worn out, I think every day was a struggle for him. We didn't realize how bad he was, frankly, we didn't even know what to look for. I don't think he wanted to die, I think he wanted the pain to go away and when she said she was leaving, that was it. I spoke to a counselor afterwards, THEN someone talked, and she couldn't believe it either.She also told me that the dr. had put him on a new pill 2wks prior and it was a drug that he should NEVER have been on. She said I should check into that because she couldn't believe that they put him on it. Anyway, our family lost this special soul and we are still in shock. If you are having these extreme highs and lows, feelings of hopelessness, PLEASE get help. Question and research every pill they give you, and please, let your loved ones be there for you. It is a family illness, we are ALL involved in it if our loved one is. I had him for 28 yrs and now I've lost him. My daughter's future children will not know there uncle. He truly was special, not because he was my son, everyone liked him and any number of people would have done anything to help him. He had the best sense of humor and kept us all laughing. My daughter is trying to adjust to life without her brother, as she said, she had never been in the world without him. We've been told that many of these problems begin to show when people are in their 20's and from things I've read, that seems to be the case. There were absolutely no signs of this when he was younger. He was never in trouble, never gave me any trouble. He was just himself, didn't do what everyone else and was well liked, to see and talk to him you'd have never guessed there was any probs. When he passed, his hair was long, he had a beard, not that any of this bad, it just wasn't him. In fact, I was taking hi to get a haircut the next day, he said it was time and that it would be good to get out. We had planned a trip to the beach this summer and he was looking forward to that. We went to the beach and I spread some of his ashes in the ocean. I now know what hell is, our family has been living it since the early morning ours of Feb. 12. Please, please, please talk to someone, please get help. It sounds like there are people who love you, LET them help you. You will be in my thoughts and in my prayers. You can ask me about what we saw my son going through, etc. I will give you any info I can. Just leave me a msg here. I don't want you or your family to go through what we did. I don't want their future to be like ours which consists of trying to get through each hr, each day. I often wonder what he was thinking as he did that but I do know he wasn't himself. His sickness won. And I truly believe they just kept giving him pills hoping that just maybe one might help. Please let me know how you are doing.

I just sent this video to my love who broke up with me. She’s a widow and is still grieving over her husband who passed over 4 years ago. I love her so much. She’s an amazing woman. This was my parting gift to her as I let go. When you love someone so much, you have to let them continue on their journey. Maybe she will return to me, most likely she won’t. I've been awfully depressed after my fiancee's recent passing, but I somehow need to stay strong and put up a forced smild in front of our 3 years old daughter. I try my best to stay strong for her, but there are times whenever she asks for her Daddy, i just want to embrace her and break down because I, too is longing for him. Waking up without him by my side is a challenge and is something i don't know I will overcome without thinking of giving up, but I'll be strong for him and our daughter. I'll go through this, I know I can. I know he's watching over us still.

I actually think, in many ways, that if the lyrics are taken to mean personal individual pursuits the song is much more impactful.
Robert Wilson III: Actually, it isn't about relationships. Chris Martin (the lead singer songwriter of Coldplay), saw his wife run out of the hospital and hugged him, crying. It was because her father passed away. Chris also started crying, asking her what he could do to help her, and she said "just hold me, because you're the only one that can fix me right now". And thus, the idea for this song. Martin is such a sweetheart, too bad his wife broke his heart 8 years later and divorced with him, but that's a whole other story, haha.

My cousin sent a card to my workplace 2 weeks ago. Inside were the lyrics of this song which was interesting because she hated how depressing and melancholy the music I listened to was when we were teenagers. But inside the letter, she told me she recently heard what I was doing for work and that she is so proud of me for being an artist/something I’ve always wanted to be… and she said in the letter-that I didn’t need fixing, lights will guide me home… anywho, I’m not going to respond to her because she hurt me too many times to count and I’ve decided just because someone is blood, doesn’t mean they deserve to rent space in my soul. Life’s too short to have those around that don’t add anything to your happiness. I am grateful she reminded me of how I would blast this song with her in the car and embarrass her screaming it at the top of my lungs with the windows down though!! Fun times.
